5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine with Windows 7

Pros: Works well, finds all of the broadcasting networks around me. This device works fine with Windows 7.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not sure why the other people are crying about it not working with Windows 7, I didn't have any issues getting it to work, here's how:
1> Download and extract the latest drivers by running the exe.
2> Plug in the device and when asked point the device to the drivers

That's all there is to it, there are no specific Windows 7 drivers, but you don't need them anyway because the old ones work.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes work with Windows 7!!!

Pros: Works with Windows 7! Works as advertised.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Easily got this to work with Windows 7 by following these steps:

1. Download latest driver from Linksys website (yes, it's old)
2. Run the downloaded exe file and select a location to unzip all of the files
3. Plug in the device and point Windows to the Drivers folder that was just unzipped

That's how I have it installed and am writing this review with ONLY this device as an internet connection on my Windows 7 machine.

1 out of 5 eggsNot windows 7 compatible

Pros: WiFi finder helps troubleshoot B/G networks without having to establish a network connection.

Very reliable adapter. I own two.

Cons: Still!!!! No Windows 7 drivers. Company Linksys/Cisco seem to be extremely dense on this topic.

Also, XP & other drivers were not available to download from the web site. I had to dig through old copies of the drivers I had made several years ago.

Other Thoughts: Companies that don't support their product or support their products for less than 10 years don't deserve my business, or yours either.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad

Pros: It is, in fact, capable of finding wireless B/G networks. I bought it in Fall 2006, specifically because I needed to "wardrive" for an info sec class at college. It served me well.

Cons: Not draft-N. It died after about 2 1/2 years of service.

Other Thoughts: I would not pay $70 for this thing. It's several years out of date technology-wise and unless you have A) some need to find wireless networks and B) a laptop that won't hold a charge (& thus can't be used with a cheaper, better adapter) I don't see the value.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Works very good when it works. Getting 100% with no drops.

Cons: Well I have to say Linksys tech support was virtually worthless. Everything they had me do I had already done to no avail. I had tried 4 different USB ports up to this point, and all of them had working devices on them. After about 20 minutes the "tech" decided that my USB ports were bad even though I told them that other devices hooked up to the ports worked fine. At this point they had no idea what to do. For some reason I had accidentally clicked on Windows Update and noticed there was a SP3 for XP. Miraculously after SP3 was downloaded and a restart was done the device started working. Lots of heartache for a device that is supposed to be plug and play.

Other Thoughts: One recommendation is not to use the drivers on the install CD. Go to the Linksys website and download the newer ones.

I have this device hooked up to my desktop. After installing the new driver from Linksys it still would not connect up. I even tried setting my router to "Disabled" for encryption and nothing happened. After trying for a little while with the Linksys Monitor and the XP Wireless I downloaded the drivers to my laptop. After doing this the device worked right away, but I did not need a new wireless device on my laptop. The only thing this proved was the device was working properly. I decided, reluctantly, to contact Linksys via chat. See cons.

5 out of 5 eggscouldn't be better

Pros: I am very pleased with this product. It is everything I read about and everything that Newegg had told me while I was looking to buy it. Speedy delivery as well ty Newegg. I have to say that it has boosted my signal to double what I was getting prior to owning it. I took it with me traveling and the convienience of the finder without hookinh up the computer and walking around with the laptop in hand was great.I would definatly buy another one if I ever need one. more

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsNice 802.11b/n detector

Pros: Works as described.
(1) The LCD only displays one signal. However, there is a scrolling feature so if there are multiple signals in the area, by hitting the "scroll" button, you can go through the specs of each signal from weakest to the strongest.

Cons: (1) Internal battery only replacable by Linksys. Think "ipod" battery replacement.
(2) Incompatible w/ Vista. The XP drivers do not detect the device. Assuming you get device manager to detect the device, the Linksys software will not find any 802.11 signals even though the LCD tells you you have a very strong local signal.
(3) There is not any robust manner to connect the finder to a keyring. The embedded plastic allows for attachment to a lanyard via a very small piece of string.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked okay for a while

Pros: Seemed to work pretty well at first.

Cons: Dead after 3-4 months of on and off use. I think my internal power might have failed.

Other Thoughts: Be nice if device told whether was WPA or WEP encryption instead for encrypted networks.
