4 out of 5 eggsGood VOIP Router

Pros: Combination Router/VOIP Adapter with 2 phone ports. Can be tweaked and hacked for even more features not previously available.

Cons: Questionable Quality Control on some units. Made by Linksys not Cisco. They dont write firmware for this AT&T does and they are too slow.

Other Thoughts: I dont know what the other reviewer is complaining about anyone that knows about VOIP like he claims knows what units are locked with a particular service. Besides this TA can be unlocked to be used with any service provider and can be tweaked to allow for additional features. It uses SIP and allows for a use of a few different codecs to transmit voice data. The router is fast and channels the lan packets efficiently. I got mine through AT&T and when it went bad they just sent me another one but I suppose its not a bad idea to have one on hand. Another good viable option is the Linksys PAP2

Pros: Voice Features:
Supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)

Cons: Last point under System Requirements:
Activated AT&T CallVantage Voice over IP Service (Router not compatible with service of other VoIP providers)

AT&T is not optional. It is required. Without it, the hardware is worthless.

Other Thoughts: If hardware is no good without an additional service, that information should be bold and in your face. It should not be the last item on a list of requirements. If anything, it should be near where it claims to do SIP.
