5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very simple setup
Customizable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Used in a small office with an RV042. Replaced a WRT54G and is a major step.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great, I Don't Understand

Pros: Sure, I didn't buy this one from the Egg, I bought it used at an auction so what I say here could be wrong, but it's not. It's a great AP. The one I have isn't falling apart, configured easily and I have a 8500 sq ft store and from end to end, notebooks and desktops have full signal or maybe one bar less. I am a CCNA and this thing was so easy, I didn't have to have any certifications to set it up.

Cons: Mine didn't come with accessories a new one in the box comes with but like I said, I bought it used at an auction.

It didn't jump out of the box and hook itself up.

Other Thoughts: I have never had a problem with anything Linksys or Cisco and I have dealt with allot of networking equipment. One of the reviewers was right, if you don't know, don't act like you do and discredit a good product.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat happened Linksys?

Pros: Web Interface, Lot's of options, WPA2, MAC filtering.

Cons: Cheap design and flawed. Like others have stated, antennas were lose right out of the box! The bolts and lock washers that hold the connectors in place, don't work well. Signal strength just dropped off after taking it apart this last time to fix the screws. Very cheaply built. As others have stated, I used to be a huge fan of Linksys.

Ever since Cisco bought them out, the quality of their products have dropped significantly. I'm replacing with a D-link 3200AP, commercial grade.

Other Thoughts: I had to open this thing up 3 times in the last 8 months to tighten the screws. As a result, the cheap thin antenna wire came lose.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome device

Pros: This thing is exactly what I wanted. It has a great signal and is leaps and bounds faster than the consumer grade device I had before. Works right out of the box with minimal config. Or take it to the next level and tweak every last setting in a very short amount of time.

Cons: Mine came with on of the anttenas lose and it will not thighten all the way. Not really a con because it still stands up how it needs to. And who moves there antenna once it's it place anyways.

Other Thoughts: Great device for the money, even better feature set for the money. Great speeds, easy config make this a knock out device. I've used them before on jobs and now own one for home. Will recomend to others and purchase again.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate: So Far, So Good

Pros: Performs well, reasonably priced, doesn't require as much attention as consumer networking equipment.

This AP has been running stable continuously since its installation in May of 2008 (haven't rebooted or power cycled). Currently, it supports 3 VoIP phones over WLAN bridges and random access by other wireless clients (laptops).

Cons: None since installation.

Overall, this has been one of the least frustrating purchases I have made for our church in terms of IT.

Other Thoughts: I see a lot of posts by frustrated users on this device. It seems that most either love it or hate it. I have a feeling this may be proportional to experience or knowledge with networking products, or the environment they have put the device in.

I will admit, our installation is not very demanding, but the prospective buyer should always beware of taking the face value of reviews.

1 out of 5 eggsResponse to "nothing but the TRUTH"

Pros: It didn't always work perfectly for me, and looking at the other posts on this product, I'm not alone. Also, I did Read The Full Manual. Some of these posts look like a trolls to me.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've configured lots of IT HW, and this one is a waste of time.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing but the TRUTH!

Pros: Exactly what you would expect from a LinkSys Business Class Product. It has tons of features and ALWAYS WORKS PERFECTLY!!! An Access Point works differently than a WRT54G router, it takes more technical know-how, and if you want to get the full benefit from the product then it will also take a visit to the support website to download the manual.

Solid metal construction.
Excellent Signal Strength and Range.

Cons: Pretty Big.

Other Thoughts: I am so sick of people posting negative reviews claiming to have high technical knowledge, when the only problem is they aren't smart enough to work it or they broke it trying to get it to work. IF ALL ELSE FAILS -- READ!!!

You have to be careful didn't anyone ever tell you don't believe everything you read! A lot of the reviews on Newegg are misleading just because people do not have high technical understanding but they think they do!

I would like to discredit every negative review but that would be against policy.

The default web admin page is not 192.168.1.1 and this is only an Access Point; IT DOES NOT HAVE DHCP.

1 out of 5 eggslots of features - little performance

Pros: This device includes many features that allow for advanced configuration and functionality.

Cons: Some of the advanced features don't work (i.e. SNMP, etc).

Other Thoughts: Had this unit for 1 month and then it just quit working. Reset device and it came back up with default settings. Any attempt to modify IP address resulted in inability to login to the web interface. I would not purchase this unit again, and would suggest that anyone considering it look elsewhere for a more reliable unit.

3 out of 5 eggsEasy to Use but with Packet Issues

Pros: It was very easy to configure. I changed the IP so I could connect via the network instead of it's default. So far it's been far more reliable than the Netgear WAP it replaced.

Cons: A major issue exists with this device and flooding the network with packet requests to each device. It seems to be inconsistent when doing this. It will work for a few weeks without a hitch then one day just start flooding the network with ping requests. I've installed a Firewall to notify me so I can do a restart while I wait for a fix from Linksys.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Replaced an old WAP in our building that would fail within an hour of restarting. This new device has been working without a hitch since installed. It was easy to configure and our computers connect to it without issue.

Cons: It didn't arrive sooner.
