FASTORA NAS-T4 4x IDE, 1.2 TB Max Extendable Storage Device

Comments: I have this unit for the last two months. The unit was simple to setup and run. My only beef is the hard drives drop out of synce once in awhile and take it takes a half-day to rebuild. I have the Maxtor 300Gb, 16Mb Cache drives. Good for storage of data files with Raid 5 protection. I am currently using over 830Gb of data on the box.

Comments: This product is deceiving. NO hard drives are actually shipped with it, so the price does not reflect what the entire NAS solution will cost you.

I will review the product again once I get my hard drives and I can actually use it, but I put this out there as a "buyer beware".

Comments: Purchasd this unit for additional storage in a mixed environment: UNIX, Windows, etc. Works very well. Performance at 100Mbps is exceptional. Performance at gigabit speeds is not what one might expect - don't forget that the drives are IDE and even running four drives (as I am), you may not see the speed that you might expect. For the price, the quality, overall features, and capability - I'd rate this unit as excellent. When you receive the unit, you'll find that it's weight is surprisingly heavy. The manufacturer appears to have actually taken time to ensure a well designed and implemented unit.

Comments: Used this box to setup storage for DV video editing. Straightforward setup with RAID5 using four 250GB discs. Storing the original DV clips on this device and able to edit over Gigabit network. Although my DV library will soon outgrow this unit, I am already planning to add a second NAS device once the 400GB discs come down in price. Newegg did its usual great job of getting the hardware to me quickly and at the best price I could find
