5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This thing will shoot WiFi signals all through your house.

4 out of 5 eggsReliable for Quite a While!

Pros: - Reliable.
- Easy to customize.
- Works with a number of different bands.
- Firmware updates are a snap!

Cons: - Not enough Port Forwarding slots for hardcore gamers.
- Takes a while to find the internet connection after the modem resets. (This can be circumvented by manually releasing/renewing your connection, however.
- Becomes randomly unreliable after four years of use.

Other Thoughts: Now, I know that things tend to wear out after a while, but I can't recall a piece of hardware I've ever owned which, one day after four years of constant use, just randomly decides to stop working properly, but doesn't appear to be doing so.
As of the last couple days, it's stopped allowing access to and from the modem, see, but according to the router itself, everything is working perfectly fine. Yesterday, I sat there for a good 40 minutes waiting for the Internet to come back up. When it did it again later in the day, I reset my router/modem setup, which fixed the problem. When it did it AGAIN later that night, I just released/renewed my IP address and bam, I had internet again. What kind of hardware does that?

Still, it served us quite well for four years. Maybe a bit longer. So I can honestly say we got our money's worth from it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood solid router

Pros: I've had this router for about 4 years, reliable, solid connection, good speeds, perfect for everyday home use.

Cons: The WiFi sync button is kind of a pain if you need to use it (especially if router is upstairs).

Other Thoughts: Maybe I just got lucky and had a good one that didn't drop my signal.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware

Pros: 2 out of the 5 I bought works

Cons: 3 out of the 5 I bought did not work

Other Thoughts: In my quest to find a decent router at a decent price I bought a batch of 5 of these. Only 2 worked. The other three would either not hand out ip's or would not access the internet. I tried numerous factory resets and firmware upgrades but couldn't make anything happen. I guess it is true what they say, you get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsUSE TOMATO USB

Pros: Amazing router. For all that are using ver 1, 1.1 and 3 and want a stable router I suggest installing Tomato USB. If you are familiar with the other very good DD-WRT then you will have no trouble with tomato. Tomato is a lot easier to use for beginners and it is very similar in performance with DD-WRT. Tomato uses different wireless drivers which means no wireless drops on the v3!!!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Use DD-WRT micro to flash first and then put Tomato USB on it, you will not regret it for sure. Like I said before, NO WIRELESS DROPS!

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Simply Elegant

Pros: -No antennas to get in the way.
-glossy classy look
-easy setup
-set it and forget it

Cons: -can't attach higher DB antennas for better reception
-I don't like the push button on the front that acts like a bluetooth device sync, if you wireless card has the tech you have to push the button in order to sync. which can be annoying if your router is in a closet.

Other Thoughts: overall good reliable router so far, always happy with linksys.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid hardware

Pros: Looks slick, cool blue indicator lights. Can take DD-WRT firmware.

Cons: Stock firmware can be a little buggy, lack of options. New Linksys/Cisco shell design is no good for stacking. No option for external antennas.

Other Thoughts: For those that have the patience, loading an alternative firmware is well worth the effort. I am running a desktop, file/media server, and Netflix streaming through a Wii -- no complaints.
