5 out of 5 eggsConfiguration Very Important

Pros: Small form factor. easy web setup.

Cons: default configuration causes frequent disconnects requiring unit reboots.

Other Thoughts: I found a configuration that works pretty well.
- I dont use Wise.
- I set the unit with a Static IP.
- I turned off Advanced Wireless / Short GI, I set RTS Threshold to 2307, and I set Fragmentation Threshold to 2306.
So far these settings have allowed me to download Gigabytes of data without issues and upload as well. I was ready to toss the device until I found these settings on one of the troubleshooting sites.

2 out of 5 eggsGet Something Else

Pros: Compact size, good form factor. Easy web setup.

Cons: I use this device connected to my computer with my Linksys WRT54GS Router 40 feet away with an 80% signal strength. During network usage the device will drop my Wireless G connection to my router for no apparent reason and in no typical spot. when I check the status through the web page, I find that it can't see my SSID; at least its not listed anymore. When I use the web page to reset the box it comes back just fine and I'm off and running again. A laptop next to my computer doesn't ever loose connection so the issue is definitely the WGA600N.

Other Thoughts: I really think it's a programming issues in the firmware and hope Linksys/Cisco comes out with a fix soon. I would really hate to have to buy a D-Link since I've had issues there in the past. but according to users at newegg its a pretty good unit.

1 out of 5 eggsexpensive paperweight!

Pros: works until the warranty expires

Cons: less than 2 months after the warranty expired this product became a $110 paperweight. do not waste your money unless you enjoy buying a new adapter each year.

and the wonderful linksys customer support will be glad to help you figure out that your product is completely worthless for a mere $29.99.

this whole company is a joke. they are more expensive than most other brands, while the quality is much lower. and their customer service, which i was told was excellent, is absolutely awful.

Other Thoughts: do yourself a favor, buy something from a different company for half the price. don't waste your money on this junk.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: WORKS perfectly out of the box and now I am setup with DirecTV on Demand without any problems. Couple this adapter with the LINKSYS WRT610N Dual Band Router (purchased here at Newegg) and you can stream ANYTHING you want. I wirelessly now stream HD movies on demand (DirectTV has you download movies then watch them, bottom line any movie service will work), weather, youtube, etc. and have yet to have 1 lost connection. Works with my 58" Panasonic Plasma, DirectTV, and my Panasonic blu-ray player.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Use the CD that comes with it to get setup. I don't know why people have problems with it. I used the CD for original setup and then again to update it to the 5GHz band and had no problems what-so-ever.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Stable N speeds. In over six months of use I could never attribute any network drop to this device.

Cons: The green lights are really bright - have to hide if using for an HTPC setup.

Other Thoughts: Used in an HTPC application. I bought this as the recommended wireless adapter for my DirecTV receiver. The DTV immediately recognized the adapter and set up automagically - something that was a chore with my previous wireless dlink gaming adapter. Very fast.

I just switched over the weekend to hard-wired because the DirecTV2PC media server broadcast over this wireless connection conflicted with my PlayOn media server. I broke down and ran CAT6 and now there is no conflict. However, I cannot attribute blame to the WGA600N.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Easy setup (when using supplied disc). Fast, good range, strong signal. Pretty green lights.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I own two of these, 1st one purchased from Direct TV to connect their DVR to internet 1 yr. ago(Newegg did not have at that time). This unit came with instructions not to use included disc when connecting to Direct TV device. I had difficult time manually connecting.
Recently purchased 2nd one(this time from Newegg) to connect Sony BluRay purchased at same time (you guessed it, Newegg). This time I used the supplied software to connect to my w. router on both of them with WPA2 security! What a breeze this time!

5 out of 5 eggsdoes what it advertises

Pros: PS3 network errors are gone (must've been the WLAN adapter)
Streaming video (all formats) from PC to PS3 and 360 with no stutter frames or pixelating
Rock solid on the 5GHz band at only 36% signal strength from a WRT600n

Cons: 1 port and it's not gigabit.....
Install software

Other Thoughts: Since it's not gigabit you can but a cheap switch or router behind it and then the device really shines.
If you have Vista just locate the IP address on your network map and install using a web browser.
This device is a must if you own any current gen console excluding the Wii and you are not able to run cable.
You could run DD-WRT on a WRT54GL as a wireless bridge for cheaper but sacrificing bandwidth.
If you're worried about bricking your router with 3rd party firmware you could also pair Netgear WGR614v8 and up as a base station and repeater.
Again your bandwidth will take a hit.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Rocks

Pros: Super fast
Easy Setup
Dual Band

It is working awesome with my WRT54GL Router

Cons: Absolutely None

Other Thoughts: I am surprised at the folks who are saying this adapter is difficult to setup. It was cake. Just connect it to the computer, put the CD in, go through the guide, and it is a done deal. I have it hooked to my DTV Receiver and it works flawlessly. I may buy another to use with my HTPC. Totally recommand this Gaming adapter. You will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Directv

Pros: Works great with DIRECTV. Setup without CD. Set up first time without a hitch. Connected to TRENDNET n-draft router no problem.

Cons: Only con is setup CD. Not very helpful. Do "clean" install with 30-second reset and Directv DVR will do the rest.

Other Thoughts: Great adapter for the money. GET IT!
