Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works and has fast throughput. Newegg price was $40 less than local big box store.
Cons: Short power cords. Could not get advanced security setup to work and had to reset to factory default. Would have rated a 5 if not for this glitch.
Other Thoughts: Needed network access in living room for Sony XBR TV. Router is Linksys WRT-600N. Reviews of the Sony recommended wireless adapter were bad, so tried this option. Very satisfied. Downloaded software update for the TV without any problems. Widgets work. Would recommend this Powerline kit for any location without wired network outlets.

Not what I was hoping for

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works as it says it does, even with multiple breakers.
Cons: I bought this hoping to solve my terrible connection to my wireless router. On wireless using a netgear and linksys top rated router I was getting about 2-5ms delay pinging 192.168.1.1. For people that dont know what that is, it is the time that it takes to talk to your router. A wired connection averages less than 1ms.
With the plk300 I am getting 6ms 10ms 15ms and have ever seen 1000's.
It is quite possible the wiring in my house, I have tried multiple circuits all with similar results.
Other Thoughts: If you are just looking for an alternative to wireless this will work. For gaming I would look into 100ft cat5 cable

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: No need to re-route any cable lines to my office. Just plug the network cable to your router and then plug the power outlet. And on the other side, plug it in the wall outlet as well and Voila! instant network. Now i don't even turn on my laptops' wifi
Cons: A little expensive but compared to drilling and re-wiring i think it more than compensates

Works great after a little bit of setup

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works, even when plugged into a surge protector (does not need to be plugged directly in wall outlet like other powerline adapters). Ran bandwidth test to speakeasy.net, got same results as PC directly connected to router on the lower floor.
Cons: Had a little trouble with initial setup, was not getting internet access but could ping router and connect to all other PC's on local network. Ended up hitting reset button on both powerline adapters to get it working.
Other Thoughts: Would have liked better troubleshooting documentation to come in box. Other than that, it works perfectly.

Pros: Powerline adapters use your homes electric grid to transfer data throughout your house. These just work. All you do is pull it out of the box, plug it into a wall socket, and plug in your ethernet line from the modem. Plug in another one in another location in your house and you are setup. It can easily connect computers or stream video and audio to any location in your house. I use it to stream internet video from my PC using Playon's software, to my PS3 and HDTV in my living room. Cant match speeds of wireless N, but I have yet to find an application I can not use this for and it is so much less hassle then setting up a wireless network.
Cons: speed will be limited to under 100 mb/s, but what current application requires more? Wireless N is faster though if you want to future proof.
