5 out of 5 eggsEasy setup, works great.

Pros: Very easy setup. I have two XP machines and one Vista machine connected to 7m dsl with this router and it works great. By jumping through some hoops you can install dd-wrt micro on it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Get one.

Pros: the wireless worked

Cons: the router part did not work. All 4 ports when network cable was plugged in, I could not get internet connection. I could not even ping the router. I could to all wireless but I wanted to use the router part.

Other Thoughts: Sent it back for an exchange. Can't blame Lynksys, I have owned other wireless routers of different brands. Some work while others decide to die after X amount of time.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!!

Pros: My wife set up our wireless network while I was offshore. According to her=no problems and she used the 128 bit encypt.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: She thought it was new. For a refurb, it is worth the money!!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome product - good deal

Pros: I received a WRT54GS version 7.2 (16Mb flash, 2MB RAM) and immediately put DD-WRT on it. Smooth installation. Running it as a repeater bridge in the apartment. No crashes, good signal strength. Way better than the Netgear WGR614L that I replaced. Bought the refurb for thirty dollars. Good deal!

Cons: I wish I had bought this in the first place.

Other Thoughts: Linksys products are supported by a lot of open-source firmwares. I have an older NSLU2 which runs openslug. Too bad they stopped manufacturing those.

4 out of 5 eggs3rd Party FW Compatible

Pros: Solid Broadcom based HW. Will accept micro version of DD-WRT software.

Cons: Non-removable antennae do not allow for any optimizations. Stock FW is not Linux based.

Other Thoughts: Used this as a wireless bridge for my HTPC and Wii. Initially it did not allow stutter free streaming from from server upstairs. However, I built some antenna reflectors out of cardboard and aluminum foil which greatly improved my SNR and fixed the stuttering issues. Easy to set up as a bridge with a little know how, much better than the wireless card I was using before. Will tide me over until I can pick up some "N" gear.

1 out of 5 eggsbad

Pros: none.

Cons: This router would work perfectly for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, and then the wireless would cut out. Not Acceptable. Disappointed in my last two Egg purchases and the way staff handled them. Probably the last time I shop here.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: I have been streaming music with it via wifi constantly for more than 5 hours. Here at work we have several WRT54GLs so I am used to configuring them. This unit (the GS model) is a little different in the config menus, but not much (you input the mac address with a ":" as opposed to "-" for example).

Cons: Refurbished? I don't see that as a con when it comes to Linksys. It came in a sealed box clearly marked as refurbished, with cables and everything. I would buy Linksys refurb any day, it's worth the rebate.

Other Thoughts: It is not uncommon to have to unplug (reset them) every 2-3 weeks or so (to get full speed back, they tend to get cluttered inside, if you will).

4 out of 5 eggsGreat router

Pros: Good range. Very stable connection, even with one bar signal strength, better than other brand wireless-N router purchased at same time. External antennas. Fast shipping. Upgraded standard firmware easily.

Cons: Antennas not detachable. Low RAM and flash memory. Item was re-shipped to me overseas & Newegg packed shipment in separate boxes, this one was in a VERY LARGE box & no invoice was included, so I was charged a lot for shipping & customs duty at the HIGHEST rate, double what it cost.

Other Thoughts: Version number should be in item description.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little router

Pros: - Works exactly as advertised

- External antennae for good signal reception and decent range

- Can run DD-WRT Micro firmware

Cons: - External antennae are not removable. Not a *huge* deal for me, since the attached ones get pretty good reception at the distance I'm using it at (see Other Thoughts).

- This is the version of the WRT54GS with only 16MB RAM and 2MB flash. People with loads and loads of BitTorrents running with lots of peers connected might cause the router to run out of memory and crash, depending on settings (I've had no problems with moderate BitTorrent usage).

- Because of the low RAM and flash memory, if you want to install DD-WRT (3rd party firmware) you're limited to the Micro package.

Other Thoughts: I actually use this router as a wireless bridge. I don't know if the default firmware supports this, but after installing DD-WRT the router does it admirably.

It connects to another router (by a different manufacturer) that's about 100 feet away in another building, and the signal reception is great. Some routers have trouble acting as a bridge if the other router isn't the same model or by the same manufacturer, but not this one.

No problems so far, a great wireless G router. Only got 4/5 stars because of the non-removable antennae, and because even for a consumer router 16MB RAM is not much.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: It's a great router for the price. It's refurbished but every bit of good as new. It's as good as similiar routers but with a great price of refurbished.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: none
