With four wired ports and the wireless connection, you're ready to take on the Internet and all it has to offer. Or maybe, you just need a local network off the 'Net for your small office. Maybe you'll hook your desktop up by cable, and carry your wireless laptop to your favorite seat. Control and configuration are easy with Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.0 (or newer). (It's best to do your configuration from a hard-wired connection, not the wireless.)

Could this be the router for you? That's your decision, not ours. But we'll be here, cheerfully waiting for you while you make up your mind.

  • newegg Dual-band Wireless-N Technology With Dual-band Wireless-N technology, the Linksys WRT320N provides faster wireless connectivity that's twice the speed of Wireless-G and offers the flexibility to connect on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency to avoid interference in your area.
  • newegg MIMO Technology MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology multiplies the effective data rate and uses signal reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area.
  • newegg Gigabit Network Connection The Linksys WRT610N features 4 Gigabit LAN ports that provide up to 10x faster speeds than most 100M network connections to handle massive data-flow needs.
  • newegg High Wireless Security The Linksys WRT610N supports WPA and WPA2 standards for use of the available supreme encryption regardless of client devices and features a built-in SPI firewall to prevent potential attacks from the Internet.

5 out of 5 eggsMy network is strong

Pros: Passable with stock firmware, better with DD-WRT, ridiculous with Tomato.
Gigabit ethernet ports.
5GHz wireless to separate me from 26 AP(s) in proximity, no more microwave or cordless phone interference.

Cons: Keeps dropping wireless with DD-WRT on 5GHz band that are only remedied by a power cycle, since this is not recommended by the manufacturer there are no deductions. An E2000 is better suited for DD-WRT although they are supposed to be the same under the hood (this unit can be converted, but the process is too involved for the average geek). This unit did overheat on me with an earlier build causing an endless loop of rebooting.

Other Thoughts: I never gave the stock firmware a chance. Within minutes I flashed DD-WRT to the device. I normally prefer DD-WRT, but on this unit it was just too flaky. I finally took the plunge and flashed Tomato and so far the wireless has been rock steady for 18 hours. Definitely a keeper.

2 out of 5 eggsFails randomly

Pros: The router itself and its individual functions are great. I bought this with the intent of using the dual band function. And I also purchased the Dual band adapters as well. Unfortunately this device was made when dual band is not simultaneous therefore it is useless unless you buy two of these or you have another router you want to use.

Cons: It has begun to fail after a year, out of warranty period. It intermittenly loses connection. speeds are very slow on this. the NAT type will reset itself without warning. I have tried power cycles and firmware updates and reset. No use.

Cons: Only real con is, it's not simultaneous dual band. One or the other but not both concurrently

Other Thoughts: That it

2 out of 5 eggs1.5 years then died

Pros: This router provided great speed constantly for 1.5 years.
I have a ps3, a torrent server, and 2 constant gamers in my house that all fight over my single 20down/3up cable connection.
this router handles all that traffic just fine.

Cons: Router died after exactly 1.5 years of perfect service.

originally bought this to do a wireless bridge with a linksys 310N but ended up doing a wired network instead. (btw the wireless bridge did work but was slower than expected)

Other Thoughts: this router just suddenly died yesterday and im forced to buy a new one because im out of the warrenty period.
the router no longer accepts new DHCP assignments from my modem and the modem doesnt allow me to use a static ip address.
i bought this router on 3/14/2010 so now 9/24/2011 it has been 1.5 years almost exactly and the router stopped working suddenly. just a few days ago i was able to watch netflix, upload music onto music.google.com, and the 2 gamers were playing games with light lag times around 20-40ms all at once.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk, Pile of Junk

Pros: Has N wireless, dd-wrt support

Cons: Well, too many to list.. but lets start with, OVERHEATING ISSUE!

can't keep a connection longer than 5 minutes.
wireless dropping left and right
turns out they overclocked it, and it destroys the internals and then it just gets broken.
you can convert this to E2000 as well.. but even then.. its garbage... worse purchase I have ever bought.. WRT54G was way better, but even then needed DD WRt for it to be great.. Linksys just lost a customer for life!

Other Thoughts: I couldnt believe they charge so much for this garbage.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works. Got this to replace my aging WRT54G, which eventually just wore out on me. Everything on this is fast, works well, and it's pretty easy to use. I also love the little easy connect button on it, to just instant allow any device I have to connect to it

Cons: Occasionally, I'll have to power cycle it. I'll notice occasionally that my speeds seem to drop a little, but unplugging it for just a second seems to instantly fix it.

Other Thoughts: It works, it's cheap (got it on sale for $50), it is what it's worth.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product With DD-WRT Firmware

Pros: Solid product with a good amount of memory and high throughput with the wired gigabit and the wireless n connectivity.

Cons: The Linksys Firmware doesn't fully support the hardware they installed it on, get dd-wrt and your issues with this product will cease to exist.

Other Thoughts: Linksys needs to uncripple their default firmware so that more connection options will work for the non-geek customers that buy this product and are afraid to flash the firmware on this or any other electronic device they might purchase for their home or office usage.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA!!!

Pros: None

Cons: Turns on, gets hot. After following all instructions to the letter, you can only get to step 4 where you get error 322: router or gateway not detected.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: price is fair, product is reasonable, performance is great

Cons: this model has blank admin username; this "feature" surprised me very much. These days, we are all concerned about data security, but this issue seems contradictory to our security concerns.

Other Thoughts: I didn't like the enclosure much, a bit on the silly side.
