3 out of 5 eggsit works, no gigabit

Pros: most windows users will find it easy to setup if they follow instructions
it works, has familiar interface. the $60 price range it was offered for is a decent value.

Cons: no gigabit ethernet
they really want you to install their software to set it up, fine if you want to do that and use a microsoft operating system.

Other Thoughts: you can use a search engine to find the default password and ip address to configure it if you don't want to use the software or cannot use it because of your operating system. i made an assumption about it having gigabit ethernet, should have known better and read more reviews first. you also might want to search the reviews of the actual throughput of the wireless, the reviews i read didn't rank it very high, but i don't have complete faith the people that were doing the test really knew what they were doing. the average person that buys this product probably doesn't know what they are doing either. it's not a bad buy when it is half the full retail price.

1 out of 5 eggsHighly Disappointing

Pros: Easy to setup. Worked right away.

Cons: Constant reboots to connect back to the network. Then it just quit working. Finally after 4 1/2 months and several phone calls to tech support, I'm trashing this thing. I've hooked up my old Linksys WRT54G which still works great. Don't bother with this. In the end it will let you down.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: So far so good!, upgraded from the DLink that was 5 years old. I was having an issue connecting to the Dlink using WPA2 Encryption, after my laptop went to sleep etc. I have not dropped a single connection yet on this new Linksys Router

Cons: None so far.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Router, BUT!

Pros: So far, this is a great Wireless n router. Better range and more consistent speed than my old Belkin G unit. The area that really seems to shine is when we are using the desktop, two laptops and PS3 online all at the same time. The old unit would choke and we would all stall in whatever we were doing, and the ps3 would get kicked off. That has not happened yet with the WRT400N. Setup was easy for all of my devices, But...

Cons: I made a rookie mistake when I bought this in not doing my homework both for this router, and my PS3. The primary reason I chose this router was that it had a simultaneous Dual-Band capability so I could put the PS3 on the secondary radio, keeping the video (Netflix) and game traffic separate from the other network traffic. I am sure that works great, but I can't test it because THE PLAYSTATION 3 IS NOT COMPATIBLE W/ 5GHZ WIRELESS N! I would have to get an external adapter for the game to use this feature.

Other Thoughts: Again, the con isn't really the fault of the unit, and it seems to handle the traffic better than the old unit even with everything on the same radio, but I wanted to put this out there so people check their devices compatibility before buying a new router.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: I never bothered with the stock firmware, put DD-WRT on this and it has worked perfectly. Never any resets or dropped signals.

Cons: No gigabit, but I knew that going in.

5 out of 5 eggsDD-WRT v24-sp2

Pros: Even though Atheros chipset, supported by DD-WRT
Easy flash to DD-WRT
Separate 2.4/5GHz radios

Cons: Not compatible with FWB, manual add of iptables needed. Although v24sp2 is the standard build several tools need by Firewall Builder have not been compiled in the Atheros build.

Other Thoughts: Using two WRT400N's as "wireless" bridge to Sony to a "Internet Ready" BD Player. One is in AP mode, the other in AP Client mode. Consistently get 30Mbit speed across the 5Ghz link via Iperf. Smooth streaming of content from DLNA endpoints.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Router

Pros: Easy Setup, Good reception, Good Speed

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: This router works great with our mix of G and N devices in our house. The devices all chose the correct band, connected automatically have stayed connect. Our old router used to constantly drop the connection

1 out of 5 eggsLinksys Wrt400n

Pros: Very easy setup, Fast connection speed and very good signal. not a bad price.

Cons: Router reset itself every few days, so for a min or so the connection is lost.

Other Thoughts: Returned the router after a few weeks of use. Can't deal with the drop connections when downloading large files or when taking online courses. Got the Linksys E3000 instead.
