3 out of 5 eggsUnreliable for streaming

Pros: It physically fit. Card worked. And drivers were provided and installed without problems.

I purchased this for my HTPC for streaming but the signal and throughput just isn't good enough for streaming. Maybe it's just my house and the walls? Maybe my router is to blame?

For $100 expectations were high, but probably could have gotten by with a $29 card from Rosewill instead.

Cons: An average card with normal wifi latency issues and inability to get high throughput without line of sight to the router.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect too much from B/G/N technology.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat for 2.4 ghz band

Pros: Very reliable, stable service for the past year at 2.4ghz. Advertised speeds are achievable during periods of low network traffic.

Cons: This card has trouble finding my Linksys ac1900 router at 5ghz and when it does find the router I have not been able to keep this card connected at 5ghz. All of my other devices are using the 5ghz range with no difficulty.

Other Thoughts: Maybe the issues with this adapter is the reason Linksys stopped making internal wifi adapters.

1 out of 5 eggsNot fast or reliable

Pros: Fast, when it works.

Cons: Doesn't work very often. Constantly has issues with identifying the network encryption type WPA2 and thinks it is WEP. (using MFG drivers) Changed router setting but no help. IE network security from wpawpa2-psk to just wpa2-psk. Plus changed network type from 802.11a/n to just 802.11n. Phones and laptops work fine.

When windows updates the driver to Ralink Tech Corp driver date 2/18/2013 version it stops seeing 5GHz networks. But will connect to 2.4GHz networks. Doing a speed test on it causes the adapter to drop speeds from ~130Mbps down to 2-3Mpbs.

Very disappointed Linksys / Cisco. Checked website and the drivers are at version 1.0. Really..? Come on never had to make an update and it worked perfectly the first time?

Router provided by Comcast which is also made by Cisco.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's the only Dual Band Wifi for standard PCI

Pros: If I SLI two video cards on my motherboard, all PCI Express slots will be inaccessible due to the video cards blocking the ports. Luckily, this device gives me a way to overcome this without going with an external RJ45 (Ethernet) or USB adapter.

Connections don't drop, and I connect to my Dual Band Router at through Wireless N and the 5.8ghz frequency.

My previous card was only a Wireless G and I would cap out at 20 Mbps on, but this one I'm downloading at 60 MBPS without a hitch.

Gaming performance is great.

Cons: I noticed that even though I'm right next to the room that has the router, the 5.8GHZ band is missing a bar.

The instructions is unreasonable in that they want me to install their bloat software before installing the card. What if I need to re-install my OS, am I expected to physically remove the card?

Moreover, the only thing I want is the driver because I don't like the Linksys bloat to begin with, and I'm happy using Windows built in Wifi utility.

I discarded the instructions, and I'm using the Microsoft one that the system autodetects. I'll probably see if there is a way to install Linksys official ones without the bloat.

Other Thoughts: I'm being harsh on the product for sure.

I still consider this an amazing piece of hardware even with the cons, and it is a great solution for those of us that want Dual Band Support on a standard PCI slot.

I strongly recommend this hardware to others. Thus I still give it 5 Stars.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Easy install, no driver hiccups, no operational issues, speedy

Cons: None really, could be cheaper I guess.

Other Thoughts: As close to a slam dunk as you'll get for an older system with only PCI slots available that needs 5GHz.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not work.

Pros: n/a

Cons: Simply didn't work. I installed it according to instructions, the Linksys software showed a network connection with excellent connection strength, but there was no connection to the internet. I spent two hours trying to troubleshoot the problem before giving up and reverting to another adapter. Two hours of my time is worth many times the price of this item. Save your time and buy a better adapter.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted, limited reliability

Pros: Because it is dual band, it can connect to almost any type of WiFi. Easy to install and setup, works quickly while provide flexibility to how you connect to your WiFi.

Cons: The range is somewhat shorter than the typical, regardless of the WiFi standard you are using. The worst is if you have a sustained high throughput traffic, the card would fail. Initially it just would cause a driver exception and BSoD would be the worst and happened rarely. As the card gets older, the chip would fail, cause a power interruption on the motherboard (think of it as if you pulled the card out while the system is running), so it caused my system to restart immediately. No BSoD, just a power reset due to the card failing on high-ish load.

Other Thoughts: This card does not age well, and likely has a hardware design flaw. Could be heat dissipation issues.

Ever since Cisco took over Linksys, their quality have dropped significantly. Avoid Linksys if you can.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Looks impressive, it's about ten times bigger than the wireless G card I'm upgrading from.

Cons: Can't maintain a connection, and is incredibly slow in any mode. I was upgrading from a very basic and old 802.11g card, but this Linksys is nowhere near good enough to actually use.

Other Thoughts: Trust the negative reviews! It could just be a driver issue, but for now this card is useless to me. I'm on Win7 64 bit. This is the last Linksys product I'm buying.

2 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Worked okay while it lasted.

Cons: Died after about 2 years. I wouldn't have been so upset about this, however it killed 2 PCI slots on my motherboard in the process. The first one after only a couple months of use.
