Pros: Works great as repeater with WRT54G. Easy setup. Good Range.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Great price for a working WAP54G. Got two of them in my house as repeaters to extend wifi. Rock Solid. Buy a refurbished and some some cash.

Pros: Open box, setup and working perfectly within 5 mins.
Cons: Quit working after 18 hrs.
Other Thoughts: I think that linksys recert is lousy. The screws were loose on the antenna connectors and the reason that it quit working was because the pwr connector had a short or open of some type. Wiggled the connector around and it starting working and has been working since. Once the initial warranty period is over I will go in and fix the pwr connector and loose ant connectors.
This WAP replaced one, just like it, that had been working perfect for 3 years.
Newegg=good. Linksys before cisco=good. Recerters=not so good.

don't try ddwrt on WAP54g

Pros: It (only) works with other WAP54G units, or occasionally with the WRT54g unit, depending on the feature you desire....
Cons: Tried using ddwrt. It bricked my unit. Maybe I should have listened to the instructions for using ddwrt say "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK". The instructions are a list of things to do with a bunch of annotations saying things like "it didn't work for me, so I did this and it worked!".
So, if you like hacking and feeling the frustration of knowing your equipment may get fried, by all means try ddwrt.
If you like depending on a wiki created by some very high-level techno-geeks, by all means, have a go at it.
Bottom line - don't try ddwrt unless you have a high level of technical prowess in networking and don't mind gambling with your units.
Other Thoughts: I'm disappointed in Linksys. Why do have have to purchase two WAP54g units to form a bridge for my PC (with no wireless adapters), when I own a WRT54g? Very frustrating. I'm going to research purchasing a new router, and Zyxel is at the top of the research list!
