1 out of 5 eggsFrequent wireless disconnects

Pros: Pretty easy to set up.
No problems with wired ports.

Cons: Some of my wireless clients like the kids' Nooks and a Tivo box lose their wireless connections. Reconnecting from the client sometimes works, but usually have to reboot the router (several times per week). Other clients work perfectly and never lose connection. I have the latest firmware installed.
Signal strength seems weak. No external antenna.

Other Thoughts: I didn't need the N speed and got tired of the disconnects so replaced it with a used WRT54GL which works perfectly.

1 out of 5 eggsKnow what you are buying

Pros: None

Cons: This router was shipped by a marketplace vendor, not Newegg. These items have a special part number that is different from Newegg's products. The router is defective, but worse than that, it was used when I received it. When I called Linksys for tech support, I was refused because it was originally sold a year ago

Other Thoughts: Be careful when you purchase something from the marketplace because if you have a problem, you must go through the vendor to resolve the problem - not Newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsStarted Great

Pros: Started out with fast upload and download speeds for multiple computers. Easy to set up.

Cons: After about 3 months the speeds decreased to a point that I couldn't even load webpages. I've had to replace the unit with a higher throughput router (N600).

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this for anyone using apple TV or multiple laptops as it isn't really built for high throughput.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi. We do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We would have wanted to see the cause of this but you have returned it. Again our sincerest apologies.

1 out of 5 eggsDecent Router - bad issue with wireless

Pros: It setup pretty easy with the disk then browser access which I prefer.

Cons: Shape, didn't care for how it lays down flat. I prefer a standing router like I had on my Dlink which I'll prob go back to and return this one. The wireless is a big problem, on my dlink I could get exactly what my desktop would get on speed tests. I updated to the latest firmware and the download speed was just horrible barely 500kb down. I disabled WMM in the QoS which got it back up near about 70% of what I should be getting on download speeds and this is testing with my RazrMaxx . I used wifi testing app to verify best channels but no matter which I changed the router to it wouldn't give me full stars or full ability like my dlink did. I'll keep this a few days till I buy another Dlink - if they fix the wireless issue this wouldn't be a bad $30 router but for $60 its too expensive for what doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: packaged well

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, Frank. We have posted your concern in our Community Forum and one of the experts there has a suggestion that may help get this issue resolved.

5 out of 5 eggsFast & Seamless Install

Pros: Easy install, pretty fast. Much faster than the older Linksys router I have. Strong signal. Excellent product. Can't go wrong here for a mid-priced router.

Cons: Having trouble getting iphone to connect but will have that resolved the evening.

1 out of 5 eggsVery poor preformance connectivity.

Pros: This router did allow my xbox to stream movies from my desktop alot faster, thats about it.

Cons: now i have owned numerous roters in the past, over 20 in the last 10 years. and to this day i have not seen a router completely lock up my on-board Ethernet. when ever my desktop comes out of sleep both of my ethernet ports are locked up and will not function in any way till i restart. that aside i also noticed huge internet slow downs on my laptop, i tried doing the recommendations from other reviews but the speed was just too slow. the setup was indeed easy but the fact that the range was under 50 feet in a small apartment is just pathetic,

Other Thoughts: locking up my ethernet ports. constant wireless droping, slow internet speeds even with the current firmware make this router a bust. i think ill stick with my old netgear for a few more months till i can find a decent replacement.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad. Missing some setting options

Pros: Routes
Easy setup
Reasonably Priced
Good basic settings

Cons: Class C subnet masks only
Cannot disable B only
Goofy QoS issue

Other Thoughts: It sets up easy enough for a novice user but is a little aggravating if you want to really customize some of your network settings. As a bonus you can turn off the LEDs on the back. Astonishing!!

Subnet masks can only be chosen from a drop down list and are limited to 24bit or higher. There is no setting to use G and N only (without B). This will give you a performance hit if someone with an older PSP (or other B device) uses your wireless. You have to disable WMM in the QoS settings if you are running firmware 1.0.02 or higher. Otherwise your wireless will only get about 512k download speed.

Did you know you can turn off the LEDs?

5 out of 5 eggsThis is why we bought Linksys

Pros: Easy setup through the browser - can you remember, admin, admin? Be sure to change the router password and set security. Remember the router password is different from wireless password.
Solid connection - have not had to reset yet, puts our other n-speed router to shame
Good speed - In the past 3 years we have used 4 routers. They all bounce around a bit in the speed they deliver. The E1500 gives many hours a day at the max speed for our usb wireless adapters.
Of course that depends on the hour of the day, other wireless signals in the area and other factors we have yet to determined. But of the 4 routers we have used the E1500 is a champ.

Cons: A manual would be nice. The included disk provides access to videos that seem to explain a lot. Videos are good for communication and education. But for reference - not so much. It is much easier to scan a table of contents or an index than to fast forward through a video. Fortunately, due to our previous experience with Linksys we did not need much help so it all worked out for us. For others - maybe yes then again maybe no.

Other Thoughts: If the E1500 is working as well a year from now as it is working now, it will be dollar for dollar the best wireless purchase we have made.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: Setup was easy, CD provided, no problems... nada... zero. Hooks up to IPad in far end of house. Let it install the Cisco Connect software for future use. Linksys has never failed me.

Cons: Had a port go "dead" on me. Removeal & reinsertion of ethernet cable fixed it. I dunno... Only problem and none since that.

Other Thoughts: Choose NO for Guests. Makes a USB ID device for future PCs to bring online. Make your Router Network name something to keep others away like DEA Van2 or ICE Team6. :)
