1 out of 5 eggsfailed in less than 6 months

Pros: worked well for around 6 months if that.

Cons: died fast.

Other Thoughts: i will never buy another repeater.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: Extended the range across our house by almost double without any noticable lag. It's simple and easy to set up and link to other devices. As a bonus, it's also subtle. It doesn't stick out like a sore thumb or have annoyingly bright LED lights.

Cons: Whenever the router goes down the extender needs to be reset. While rare, it's annoying if there's a random "blip" that causes the router to drop. The RE1000 starts pulsing (when it's trying to reconnect) but never reconnects. Power cycle the device, plug it back in and it's good as new.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks As Advertised

Pros: Easy setup - took just minutes
Works as it is supposed to
Nice design

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wife's work laptop is 55' from the router (Linksys EA3500) and the signal passes through 3 walls (with metal framing) on the way there. We were getting 2 bars of signal strength and a solid connection but didn't want to chance drops in business connections. Added this unit between the router and the laptop, at a point about 40' from the router and we now get 4 bars of signal strength at the laptop + wireless access anywhere in the house, garage and out to the mailbox. Good stuff.

1 out of 5 eggsUnacceptable

Pros: None - it doesn't work

Cons: I have a linksys router with a normal and guest network. I want to extend the guest network, but this extender will only connect to the primary network. Good concept but the unacceptable restriction of which network it chooses makes this unusable in my situation. There is nothing in the description that indicates there is any restrictions on what type of network this device can connect to. This is a case of not letting experts BE experts.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Plug and play setup and installation. Use a free wifi analyzer on your phone to tell the difference in your home. It works great for my home and coverage was extended for 2.4GHz wifi range. Fast startup sequence.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: It takes less than 10 seconds and it is ready to go after you set up and plug in where you need the extended signal from you wifi access point. Highly recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate from 8/28/2012 7:10:49 AM

Pros: See Other thoughts

Cons: See Other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I had to get an app that displayed all WiFi signals with channels to even see if the thing was working, turns out, it's on.

4 months and I have moved this device all around the house and the only way I get any kind of improvement is if whatever WiFi device I am connecting to it is less than 3' from it, and the closer, the better.

It does make a nice wireless bridge, that function works great.

All in all, still not impressed.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great For Us!

Pros: My wife purchased a Blackberry Playbook a few months ago, and while using it she was often having dropped or blocked connections from our wireless router. We don't have a large home, but it still caused a problem.

Last month, she found this unit on a closeout at a local big box store and decided to give it a try. I plugged it in at the opposite end of our house (from the router location), popped the included CD into our laptop (which also uses our router), and a few minutes later everything was up and working great. She can now take her tablet anywhere in the house and keep a good signal, and it even bumped up my laptop signal from 4 to 5 bars where I normally use it.

There may be applications where this wouldn't do as well, and perhaps if I was a 'gamer' it wouldn't be acceptable. But for our purposes it works fine!

Cons: Haven't discovered anything that I would consider a downside since we've installed it.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a good 30 days

Pros: Worked as advertised for the first 30 days.

Cons: Could not hold a constant connection a little over 1 month in.
Seems to be cycling up and down
Super Cheap Home WIFI device

Other Thoughts: I am use to cheap home wifi devices getting scrapped a year or two after purchase, this one only took a little more than 1 month!

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsnot working well with Elevate hotspot

Pros: easy to install.

Cons: Not working well with Sierra mobile hotspot. I want to find a solution with hotspot plus an wireless whatever solution so that I can replace my existing DSL setup. I thought the wire port on RE1000 can work with my brother printer. But it just doesn't wait up my printer in the morning. I thought RE1000 also has an ethernet bridge capability. But I can be wrong because I cannot find any information on the internet. I eventually go with Buffalo N300 and everything works like a charm.
