Pros: lights come on, will make a great paperweight

Cons: not compatible with qwest/centurylink vDSL. I guess that's what I get for not researching it better, and not hooking it up right after christmas.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you know which dsl you have before ordering, especially as a christmas present, because newegg will hold to their magic 30 day cutoff return policy NO MATTER WHAT.

Pros: Easy setup, practically "Plug and Play" right out of the box, decent wireless speed.

Cons: Wireless range could be better. I have this unit located on the 1st floor of a 2 story, 2,500 sf house and I get low signals on the 2nd floor. However, I have not dropped a connection yet. There is no provision for mounting an external antenna, so if you have a large area to cover, you may need a range extender. The unit also does run a little warm on the bottom with constant use. I have it on a shelf, by itself, and it does not seem to be a problem. I would avoid placing this unit on top of, or near, anything that generates heat and try to maintain air circulation around it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this modem/router to replace an aging Westell 7500 that was provided by Verizon back in 2008. I was constantly having to reboot my Westell 2 or 3 times/day because it was dropping the DSL/Internet connection. This unit arrived with everything "good to go" and in the box. I inserted the Setup CD as instructed and connected my laptop to the modem/router using the supplied Cat 5 cable. I connected the modem to the DSL line and plugged it in. After running the setup CD I did need to select the "Auto" box, along with the "ADSL" box under the "Setup">"Basic Setup" tab/screen. I used the same SSID and password combination from my Westell 7500 so as to make it easy to have all of the wireless devices connect with no problems. After saving the settings and rebooting the modem/router, I was connected to the Internet. Speeds with the Cat 5 were about 30% faster than I was getting before. Wireless speeds were about 10%-20% faster. Total setup from opening and unpacking the box to completed setup was around 10 minutes. Newegg free shipping was exceptional, as always. Total time from ordering to my door was 48 hours.

Other Thoughts: I thought I would update my review of this Gateway. I started having connection problems with it after a while, but like some customers seem to think, I believe it is AT&T. I returned the Gateway to Linksys and we switched to a Cable Internet service. Much more reliable.

Pros: Setup was a breeze took like 5 minutes.
I Noticed Faster Speeds.
Haven't Dropped Connection Yet That's The Main Reason I Got this Router.

Cons: Nothing So Far.

Pros: features if they work

Cons: This is a DSL only gateway. Not compatible with cable ISPs. Doing all the research there is appears collusion in the market place between manufacturers and cable ISPs - they make cable gateways BUT do not sell them to the public - only to ISPs so they resell/lease to you.
Getting Motorola instead

Pros: Setup was very smooth and had no problems installing.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I purchased this Gateway to replace my AT&T Pace 4111N Gateway that I was not happy with. This was one of the easiest gateways to setup that I have used.

Pros: Runs cool compared to last Netgear Router
Easy Setup
Works with AT&T
Computers on WiFi seem to load pages/online games faster

Cons: Only 3 Ethernet Ports

Pros: I installed this modem/router combo into a client's home that was 2+ story. The range is ok - didn't quite cover the upstairs well but that was expected (somewhat of a large home). The speed is excellent. Coupled quite nicely with a small repeater/range extender that grabbed the signal and boosted it nicely upstairs.

Cons: If you are going to use this unit as a modem also, keep in mind that AT&T loves to make this setup difficult. Cisco/Linksys does provide a nice little check-off sheet of items you will need to know, but this is a problem with AT&T and the PPPoE settings (specifically the network password). Unfortunately my client says they have to reset the modem almost daily to get internet access. I blame AT&T/PPPoE Settings - but it could really be many different variables. Still looking into it.

Other Thoughts: Had some issues configuring the PPPoE settings due to AT&T. A nice call-in to customer support and they SHOULD give you the correct settings for PPPoE, but they WILL try and sell you on a "support package" since it is not their equipment connecting you anymore. I verified all settings many times, but it still continues to drop the internet daily for customer. Hmmmm.

Pros: Looks to be a solid product when it works.

Cons: Defective out of box, severe wireless issues. I was charged by Newegg for my RMA label.

Was on the phone with Cisqo for a couple hours only to find out that my suspicions were correct that it was defective out of the box. Hopefully the replacement will be issue free, I will update when I can.

Pros: Plug and play right out of the box, no difficult set up! Linksys got it right! Much better that the 2Wire that AT&T sent me! Doesn't drop internet connection...at all!

Cons: None so far!
