5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable Range

Pros: The range is impeccable and is a substantial upgrade over the WRT310N that I previously owned. It also manages signals well, and provides a more stable connection in an apartment building. Most other routers can't handle the high concentration of wireless networks and have trouble establishing a stable connection.

Cons: It costs money.

5 out of 5 eggsBest WIFI / EASY Set up!

Pros: Easy set-up, great range, super simple, and RELIABLE!! Have not experienced one problem since bringing it online, it has been flawless. Will never purchase anything but Linksys in the future!

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: It is pricey but even if you step down one or two levels, you will still be getting a reliable and solid signal.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Extended Range; Fast; Easy Set Up

Cons: Overseas Tech Support; Confusing support site

Other Thoughts: Initial set up was glitchy; router downloaded updated firmware that is for both E4200 & EA4500 (same unit, basically). The result was incomplete set up.

Getting into default set up configuration is very easy, and adjustments are pretty idiot proof. I used Linksys help to verify my actions, and they were a bigger problem than the set up (language barriers, scripted support, etc.). Nonetheless, after verifying I did it right on my own, I was very pleased. (I am proficient with IT, but I am NOT an IT professional; just a guy that wants a good home LAN).

This is my third linksys router; all have performed well. I am very pleased with this one. I have a 2Ghz channel for guests, and a 2Ghz and 5Ghz channel set up for wireless connections. The range is great and the speed is faster than any other linksys router I have had.

Worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Router, Works Perfect!

Pros: Router works perfectly for my everyday gaming/streaming. I have had no drops and no issues on wireless. This was an upgrade from my old gaming wireless N router, a different brand and several years old, that started having heat, wireless, and speed issues.

For my setup I am using the bands as individual wireless types. The 5GHz signal as 802.11n and the 2.4GHz signal as 802.11a,b,g. Things that sat and buffered before when using one signal with all wireless types now load up instantly. Signal is strong in each room.

My wireless network consists of several PC's, laptops, a media server, print server, web server, gaming consoles (including mobile), tv's, android phones, and more. All are working great with this router. No drops so far.

Cons: None. Zero. A great purchase so far.

Other Thoughts: Did not use the software to setup the router, so I have no opinion on it. I set everything up manually. I upgraded the firmware as soon as I had it setup. All options were easily setup, navigation is simple, and gui is similar to most routers I've used.

I have not tested/used the guest network yet.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 2 months

Pros: The router was great when it worked...

Cons: The router stopped functioning after 2 months. The Ethernet ports on my router ceased to function.

Other Thoughts: After 45 mins on the phone with Cisco, RMA'ed back to them. They're replacing it with an EA4500 Dual-Band, I'll let you know if its any better.

1 out of 5 eggsConstantly drops connectivity

Pros: Pretty

Cons: Doesn't work

Other Thoughts: The Linksys E4200v2 wireless router drops connections frequently and without any pattern. It occasionally drops everything: internet connection and all connected devices. Or it will just drop connectivity to a few devices, perhaps one or two computers, maybe just the file server, or any combination, even when all devices have static IP addresses assigned. The only thing certain is connections will be lost, and most certainly 1 hour into a 6-hour overnight backup.
