2 out of 5 eggsShipped Quick but Slow Speeds

Pros: Easy to setup device. Signal coverage for my home is just OK..On par with my 3 year Refurbished Netgear router.

Cons: No matter what setting I tried and after a firmware update I can not get a connection rate higher that 70mbps to my 3 computers..all have wireless adapter from different companies. On 2 machines the WiFi adapters are rated at 150mbps and the 3rd PC at 300mbps. I get the full rates on each computer when connected to my 3 year old Netgear. Video from my networked HDD now buffers thru the Linksys but plays smooth on the Netgear. Next is to contact Linksys for support I guess.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat little router, throw it out if it ever goes bad

Pros: Good signal, looks nice

Cons: Had one go bad and Cisco's RMA process is broken!

Other Thoughts: This little router looks nice and performs well. Good luck RMAing any Cisco router if one goes bad. I had two of these and one went bad and after two hours on the phone I still have no working RMA information. I think I'm going to throw it out and start looking for another reputable manufacturer (Buffalo, Asus?). That said it's been the first one in a decade to go bad, that's why they must make them so well?

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your time and money.

Pros: Reputable brand, nice design, good specs, stronger signal.

Cons: Data stream inconsistent. Streaming video buffering all the time. My other 5 years Cisco router won't even do that.
Exchanged once, shipping on my own. Not worth exchange again because the sale price is cheap. Gave it to my friend to give it a try, Same thing! Don't waste your time and money.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk/skip

Pros: I like how it looks.
ftp server.

Cons: It has low range. I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment and my laptops signal drops all the time or it is ultra slow. This router is right behind the wall in the other room (13 ft away). In the kitchen i have no signal at all. It was intolerable, I had to put back my old router which I bought for 20 bucks in 2008, which doesn't have this problem. I thought I was upgrading, but this is a disappointment.

Other Thoughts: It is certainly not worth $29 when my $20 cheap 5 year old router outperforms it, and absolutely not worth it's full price.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsGood Bargain

Pros: -Easy setup

-Good Signal

Cons: -Included ethernet cable was bad

Other Thoughts: Other than the ethernet cable being DOA causing a delay in setup, everything else was a cinch! Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Router

Pros: This router has pretty good speed and the setup disk is easy to setup. I had it from sealed in the box to fully working in just 4.5 minutes. The disk that they provide is so easy a caveman could do it. The speed is good on this router and it has a lot of functions including a speed tester included with the router which is a nice little feature for testing the bandwidth and ping directly from the modem instead of via wireless. The range is decent, but for some reason, Just 60 feet or so away I am getting about 65% signal, it might be my house, but it seems as though it could be a bit better. Overall a good router if you have a normal sized home and less than 5-10 computers/devices hooked up.

Cons: Range could be a bit better, but not a bad router by any means.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Router for the Price!

Pros: I bought and compared the E900, E1500 and E2500. The E2500 needed to have WMM disabled, which hampered throughput using N protocol at 2.4 Ghz. With the E2500, 5Ghz N range was too short, it may have been hampered by my cordless phone that worked at the same frequency. The E1500, had sufficient signal strength at 2.4 GHz N to give me the same throughput as my wired connection (36 Mbps/5.5 Mbps) from anywhere in the house. The reach of the E900 was a little short, and slower connection speeds from the back of the house downstairs (router was located in a front bedroom upstairs) reflected that. My house is 1664 square feet.

Cons: The Cisco firmware web interface is not as responsive or feature laden as Tomato or DD-WRT, but it works properly now. Use the latest version (v1.0.05 or better) to eliminate the problem with WMM. The Cisco Connect Setup Software that came with the router did not prompt me to update the firmware, so I did it myself.

Other Thoughts: It is inexpensive for its features (if you buy it at its cheapest price). Paid $5 less for the E900, but the E1500 was the better deal for me. All routers were bought refurbished. You may be able to get something new with similar attributes from another manufacturer at this price point if it is "off brand". I also chose these because, as an IT guy, I have a long history with Linksys and Cisco products.
