5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works greats for me and I have it running in my apartment and lost of wireless noise coming for all around me.

Cons: Wish the firmware was more feature rich compared to other vendors. I had to get my geek on to turn it into an access point vs a wireless router.

Other Thoughts: I have this running as an access point connected to a meraki router.

2 out of 5 eggsOk, but not great

Pros: Fairly easy setup. Fast speeds most of the time, though I never come close to the unit's advertised max speeds. Wired works very well. Intuitive interface.

Cons: Wireless is somewhat spotty. Not as strong or stable as I'd like. Occasionally the wireless signal drops out completely. It always resets on it's own in less than a minute, but I'm not sure why it drops out in the first place. I have an early version of this router, but I'm using the latest firmware. Maybe that's the reason, I'm not sure. The signal strength isn't very strong in my apartment bedroom, even though the maximum range I'm using is less than 25 feet, and only one wall in between. Sometimes the wireless signal is spotty only a few feet from the unit.

Other Thoughts: My old D-Link router was more reliable, though not quite as fast. All things considered, I'd prefer reliable over fast. This router has it's antennae built in with no option of adding a better one. I'd prefer to have external antennae.

2 out of 5 eggsAll the elements of customer dissatisfaction

Pros: When it works, after ten minutes of thinking, it works fine til I turn the computer off. Deja vu.

Cons: 1. Live assistance is from Elbonia.
2. Live assistance is limited to 90 days, the first words out of the Elbonian's keyboard every time.
3. Won't connect for about ten minutes on either of my Win7 high performance computers, including the one with the matching Linksys N900 USB adapter.
4. After hours on the internet, with their support, and changing every possible setting, nothing is fixed.
5. CISCO NO NO not ever again.
6. Their cloud stuff, don't even ask!!

Other Thoughts: $250 router and adapter, sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

4 out of 5 eggsRock solid Wi-Fi

Pros: Ordered a pair of these: One as the main router/firewall in my office attached to the cable modem. The other is placed in the great room via wired ethernet as the Wi-Fi access point setup in "bridge mode". Separate SSID's for smartphones, HD streaming and guests.

Cons: Could not get bridge mode working using the "Smart" interface. Loaded the "Classic" firmware from Linksys support site and it works like a champ.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy setup, amazing range

Pros: Easy setup, can be managed from your cell phone or other IOS/Android devices. I am able to get over 200 yds clear range.

Cons: Cannot be mounted to the wall.

Other Thoughts: This device was very easy to setup (tried both the included CD on my mac) as well as logging directly into the device with the default user/passwd. There is a lot more configuration options when logging directly into the device versus using the included quick start CD, but I'm very picky about my configurations. For the general user, it's very easy to get running immediately from the CD. The only bummer is I would like to mount it on my wall, but have had to suffer and mount a shelf for it. I have managed to get over 200yds away from the device while still being able to maintain good signal (flat straight shot with the device mounted near an open window). Amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router

Pros: Simultaneous 450Mbps
USB for external HDD

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've owned this router for over six months and have had ZERO problems. No issues, nada. This router has worked like a champ right out of the box. It sounds like a group of people got handed a lemon, but mine is working perfectly.

My previous routers was a D-Link 4500 and I had lots of problems with that constantly requiring rebooting, not with this router!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: I bought this router to upgrade my media network. I bought it along with a LINKSYS SE2800 Unmanaged 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. Setup was easy with the supplied software. Performing well so far

Cons: Had to use the cd for setup, I miss the good old days of setting up a router just by logging in to it

1 out of 5 eggsBad router

Pros: NONE

Cons: I purchased the EA4200V2 to replace a main E3000 router which has a E2500 set up as a bridge. Behind the E2500 bridge I had a media/file server. All my wireless devices connect to the main E3000 router.

When I first installed the EA4200 as the main router, I can see from the E2500 bridge side the connection speed jumped to over 200Mbps which was great. However, my WD TV Live player connected to the main router would play a media file off the file server which sits behind the E2500 bridge for about 2 hours and then nothing! Right in the middle of playng a movie the WD TV palyer would lose the file connection. The file shares essentially disappeared. I tried to access via a Win PC to the file shares. Same problem.

So I put back the 'old' E3000 as main router and repeated the same test. The E3000 had no problem whatsoever. Swapped in the EA4200, ran the same test and got the file share disappeared problem again!

Long story short. . . The EA4200 is sitting on the shelf now and I am still using the E3000 as my main router. Not sure whether this is a firmware problem or just bad hardware design on the EA4200. Not going to buy another Linksys router again!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Seems fast

Cons: At least once a month this router binds up and loses it's settings. I have to hook up my prior DLink DIR 655 to make sure Comcast is not out. Never is.

This is the last time I'm messing with this router.

Other Thoughts: garbage
