2 out of 5 eggsWorks but doesnt...

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: It works and it sends a decent amount of throughput.

Cons: Sadly when hooked up to my ps4 or PC and turned on with wireless it not only cuts out the LAN but interferes with the WLAN connection.

Most important without even a wireless connection made the device suddenly drops the LAN connection.

REASON BEING!!
*it is because of the electricity in my house, seems to have interference with in the circuitry.*

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: Good products, give you internet when you need it, it will not get to 200mbs but it will give you the speed you need as long as you have good electric current. You plug them in and a few minutes later they are giving you connectivity.

Cons: None as of right now, they have been working since day one.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch better than wireless

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: Amazing product purchased on sale from Newegg. On my FIOS 75 mbps network the first connection is router + switch + PLE400 (1-port). Second connection is PLS400 + computer. Units are operating at different ends of the house. During setup with both units in the same room, getting 72 mbps transfer speed. With distance through house wiring, getting 55 mbps solid. Each unit has the latest firmware.

Cons: Documentation could be better explaining how to set up the user defined network key for both units. That is, found it best to hook each unit up to the computer when changing keys.

Other Thoughts: Initial home network setup was wireless via the crummy Verizon Actiontec router and two high gain antennas (purchased from Newegg), but results disappointing. Moving the router helped and increased the transfer speed, but still disappointing. Tried a wireless repeater, but kept dropping the signal. Next I tried a low cost LEA Networks (France) Powerline kit that was better, but still not up to par with the LINKSYS Powerline kit. Even though LINKSYS clearly states in the User Guide that both units need to be on the same circuit breaker, they may really mean on the same breaker panel box. These units work fine between different circuit breakers in my home.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than WiFi

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: Much better than the WiFi speed I was getting. Now I get high bandwidth streaming to my TV. 4-ports are a big plus since I can connect multiple devices to the receiver instead of having to use an Ethernet switch.

Cons: None yet.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy It

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: None

Cons: According to Linksys, this does not work unless it is on the same circuit breaker as the item that attaches to the router. What are the odds that the remote room is on the same breaker....ZERO

Other Thoughts: This should be stated in the specs so people don't waste time returning this. Why even make this item.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as fast as it says it is

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: A nice looking gadget. If you can't have a wireles in your home then this is pretty neat. Works right out of the box. Basically you have nothing to do. Just plug it in and it works.

Cons: It actually slows down my connection a lot and I ended up not using these. It should be at least faster than your wifi to actually make sense to use this.

5 out of 5 eggsThe right device for the job!

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: My son has been gaming from his room on wifi for about 3yrs. The more games or content data he consumed the worse his connection would seem to get. My son could not watch youtube because of the streaming delays over wifi. I bought this item when it was on shell shocker to give it a try.
I installed it on the top floor of our house from one end to the other. Now that we have this item installed he has no issues with accessing the internet at all. He has both his XBOX and PC hooked to the hub end on this device and it works flawless. It is also faster than the previous wifi hookup. I am pleased with this item. It is truly the right device in this scenario for the job.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: In the description it states a bandwidth throughput higher than theoretically possible on 10/100 Ethernet ports but it is stating speeds over the electrical connection between the devices not output at the Ethernet ports. This can be confusing. Just wanted to clear it up a little.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money

This review is from: LINKSYS PLSK400-NP Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: 1) expands by 4 ports, not one.

2) I got them on sale for $39.99

Cons: 1) No manual or any type of documentation. I normally don't even care about this, however since I ran into issues right from the get go it would have been nice.

2) They don't like to pair. I have in fact never been able to get them to pair with each other, and then only with with my existing set of TP-LINK TL-PA211.

3) They single port adapter is significantly larger than than others, but feels lighter. (as if they spared money on the internal components, and gave it a large case to make it look more significant)

4) The reset button is very hard to use when these are plugged in (which I assume they must be for it to work). It is recessed, and requires something to be inserted to use it. Depending on your home layout, this may be difficult to do.

Other Thoughts: I bought the TP-LINK TL-PA211KIT some time ago, and have always been very happy. They were a breeze pair, and were very reliable. In the 22mo I have owned them, I have had a single glitch, where unplugging one for 5 seconds resolved the issue. I spent 4 hours "fiddling" (yes, that is the technical term) with the new adapters. I was never able to add them to the existing network, and never able to get them to pair with each other. When I would disconnect them for 10 seconds, I would need to repair them when I reconnected them. The tp-links did not suffer from this. Once I became annoyed and reconnected the original adapters, they immediately re-paired. It is not my intent to tell you how great TP-LINK gear is. In fact, I usually try and avoid them. But look at the higher priced linksys/cisco experience in comparison. Way back in the day when Cisco first purchased Linksys I remember my only worry being that they would become more expensive. Over time, this fear was joined by the realization that Cisco no longer seemed to care about quality in the Linksys line. The products coming out branded with Linksys by Cisco seemed to slowly loose quality. I found that the bigger the Cisco Name, the lower the quality became. This was my last attempt at trusting the Linksys name. Of course now that they appear to be owned by Belkin, who knows what to expect. Having trusted the name for so long, I am somewhat saddened to need to finally admit that Linksys is dead.
