1 out of 5 eggsNEVER BUY A NET REPLACEMENT PLAN

Pros: Nothing is good about the device

Cons: Bought a 3 year NET REPLACEMENT PLAN for $29.99.

My device start dropping internet frequently so i call the newegg customer service and tell the problem, customer representative told me that NET REPLACEMENT PLAN starts covering the item after the linksys manufacturing ends which is 1 year.. So they make me call linksys to fix the item..

I called linksy and linksys have only 90 phone help for free after that you have to pay $29.99 for the service, so there is no help from Linksys as well..

Ending up paying $30 dollars for replacement plan and now i am going to buy a new router...

NEVER BUY A REPLACEMENT PLAN!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

There is two different information on Newegg website about the REPLACEMENT PLAN...below is the info for the plan...

1 out of 5 eggsDead In 11 Months

Pros: Some what fast. Worked for eleven months without an issue.

Cons: I've had this thing for 11 months no problems at all. Three weeks before the warranty expires and it just died on me. No warning no slowing down and no drop outs. Just died. Dragged out tech support from Linksys. Got that RMA number and ten days later the new one arrives and that could not hold a connection.

Other Thoughts: Now on number two. No matter what the tech told me to do it would not work. The even switched me to level two tech support and they couldn't get it to work. I finally got them to pay for the return and I sent it in today. Tech told me I have to wait until the third unit. If they can't get that one to work then they will give me an upgrade. To what? The AE 6500 and repeat all the steps for a fourth time. Time for the Ibuprofen. I should have went with a different brand and gotten the extended warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece o Junk

Pros: Dual Band

Cons: At least for mine the 5Ghz Band constantly drops or completely disappears and its only one device on the band, This is not my first router and definitely not the first one I've set up. And forget about talking to Linksys Customer Support for any issues as all you will get is a headache with no actual help. Everything else works to an extent (not the best speeds even with the 2.4 band).

Other Thoughts: Should have listened and gone with a better brand but I liked my old WRT54GL so I figured a newer router from the same company wouldn't be too bad. It was.

2 out of 5 eggsEA line of routers SUCKS!

Pros: Easy setup, good packaging, comes with a pamphlet with default settings, gigabit ports, ability to turn off indicator lights (Great idea!)

Cons: This is the third Cisco Linksys router I've tried out in as many weeks. Both the EA 6300, EA6500, and EA3500 all have ridiculous local ping times. My ping -t to the router varies from 2 - 10ms. Which doesn't seem like alot, but considering that I have a pair of teamed gigabit intel NIC's it's ridiculous. I've tested every conceivable option to resolve the "high latency" to no avail. The average response of every other router that I've ever owned was <1ms except under load average.

Other Thoughts: Save your money, Do not buy any router in the EA series as each of them has shown the same issue, which is a shame because I've always liked Cisco Linksys. I replaced this with my old DLink DIR-825 until I can find a decent new AC router. And my pings are back to <1ms.

3 out of 5 eggsRange impaired

Pros: I had a Linksys wireless-g router for so long with nary a hiccup; but was having some range problems with my iPad2 and wife's laptop. Time for a change. Went to BB expecting to get a range extender and salesman talked me into this wireless-ac unit for awesome range and speed. Price was OK and hoped this would do the trick. Setup was real easy for this pseudo novice and all our devices were quickly connected. So far so good. Speed for g units was good if very close. Same for wireless-n newer laptop.

Cons: The main problem I had was with its range for both g and n. Wife and kids complained about speed (fewer bars and slower). My iPad was markedly slower and only had 1 bar signal strength. Tried lots of things, reading posts, troubleshooting, playing with channels, bandwidth, etc. QoS/prioritization was off. I did get slightly better performance but still weak signal. Wireless-ac must be great, but backward compatibility to g and n are definitely not. Giving up ...

Other Thoughts: Decided to return this back to BB and exchanged for an ASUS RT-N66R (same thing as N66U). I decided I didn't need wireless-ac and this unit was hailed for its range and performance by CNet. It didn't disappoint. Head and shoulders above the Linksys for range (3 bars vs. 1 bar on my iPad).

2 out of 5 eggsRouter

Pros: Sleek. Works as described when working...

Cons: I continually ran into an issue of really slow down load speeds. The router itself has a speed test which would get around 55mbps down. This is what it's suppose to be. But my devices connected to the router (wired and wireless)would only get 2mbps down. I spent 2 hrs with Linksys support and they were unable to solve the problem.

4 out of 5 eggsSpeedy, works well so far

Pros: Fast with AC and N.
USB3 port
Interesting software tools/parental controls

Cons: I am moving from G to N/AC, don't really notice a range improvement yet.
Not free.

4 out of 5 eggs good so far

Pros: Very easy setup. Speed performance is very good. USB port is great for my backup drive.

Cons: Have not gotten the guest network to work, but haven't spent much time on that.

Other Thoughts: I did research for different routers. Been a fan of Linksys so I will always lean to them. After bad experience with a Linksys 2000N I wanted to make sure not to have the same issue with this one. I read all the reviews I could and the biggest complaint I saw was that the web interface was very bad, which its not. The reviews also stated do not upgrade the firmware cause might cause the AC speed to drop, to the design speed for this router. Last night I had issues connecting with my iOS devices connecting and poor performance. I decided to upgrade the firmware and so far everything is working great.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy Setup: Linksys routers have always been quick and easy and this one is no exception. Took less than 5 min to completely configure, including basic setup and advanced routing.

Nice tool set: Includes a speed test app, DynDNS config options and device prioritization.

USB 3.0 port quick easy setup for a share drive

IPv6: Great future-proof addition to the router.

Wireless Speeds: Coming from a WRT54G it's obviously much quicker than my previous router. I have not run any speed tests to compare to other Dual-Band routers. However from the research I conducted online it stacks up well with the competition

New Egg: As always NE has the best prices, got free shipping and received the package quickly.

Cons: Range: It's not a deal breaker but I do lose some range as compared to my WRT54G but I suppose that is to be expected with an internal antenna. The range reduction is marginal but worth mentioning.

2.4ghz band seems a bit sketchy: This could be a result of the devices I was trying to connect. My laptop and droid connect exclusively to the 5g band. However, my wife’s IPhone and Win 8 machine constantly had problems connecting to either. I had to drop the security from WPA2 down to WPA on the 2.4 band. Her devices will now connect but it still acts up occasionally.

Other Thoughts: Overall this seems to be a good product and I would recommend to others.
