Wireless-AC for Faster Speed and Reliability
Upgrade your wireless home network and enjoy faster speeds than conventional Wireless-N using the AC900 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router from Linksys. This router offers Wireless-AC technology, which delivers a faster, stronger Wi-Fi connection ideal for online HD video streaming services. With speeds up to AC900 Mbps (N300 + AC565), Wireless-AC provides gigabit Wi-Fi speeds that allow content to download faster. Wireless-AC makes it possible for you to stream shows on your HDTV while family members download music or other files—without interruption due to a slow network connection. The AC900 includes a USB 3.0 port and four gigabit ports to let you connect multiple devices, allowing you to quickly print, share, and store content across your network.

Beamforming Creates Stronger, Faster Connections
The Linksys AC900 Smart Wi-Fi router features beamforming, an innovative technology that optimizes the wireless signal strength between your connected devices and Linksys router. Beamforming enables the router to identify and connect directly with other devices, rather than simply sending out wireless signals in a general direction. The result is faster network speeds, better wireless range, and reduced interference from other devices. It also helps extend the battery life of connected devices and reduce their power consumption because data is transferred more quickly.

Manage Your Home Network Remotely with Linksys Smart Wi-Fi
With Linksys Smart Wi-Fi, you can access and control your home network from wherever you are using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. For example, you can set parental controls to restrict Internet access during certain times of the day and create unique, secure Wi-Fi passwords for your guests. You can also monitor activity on your home network, add new devices, and check upload and download speeds. In addition, Linksys Smart Wi-Fi allows you to prioritize which devices on your network receive the most bandwidth to reduce lag times and buffering when you're streaming HD media or gaming. Your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account also gives you access to of apps that provide additional ways to control and interact with your home Wi-Fi network. Block the Bad Stuff lets you add one of three levels of protective filtering to help safeguard your wireless network. Device Monitor allows you to monitor game consoles, tablet computers, and other devices, while NetProofer lets you restrict access to certain websites.

Upgrade Your Devices to Enjoy the Full Benefits of Wireless-AC
Using Linksys's family of Wireless-AC peripherals, you can take full advantage of the improved speed and stability of Wireless-AC. Linksys Universal Media Connector lets you connect wired devices such as game consoles and smart TVs to your Wi-Fi network and stream HD or even 3D HD video content. The connector operates on the 5 GHz band, resulting in less interference and a clearer signal. Additionally, the Linksys Wireless-AC Mini-USB Adapter (AE6000) makes it simple to upgrade your laptop or desktop computer to Wireless-AC technology.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor wifi

Pros: Lots of wifi capabilities
gigabit
no external antennae

Cons: wifi signal is weak. At first it was extremely unreliable so I changed the channel and that resolved that issue. But I can barely get a signal outside my house (driveway, porch), and it's a small house. Considering I'm using N I would thought it would have reached farther than the G signal on my old apple airport router, which did reach almost to the end of my yard.

Other Thoughts: Needs a signal booster if you expect to be more than 50ft from this router. I bought mine cheap because it was a refurb. Otherwise I probably would've returned it.

3 out of 5 eggsFast Yo-Yo

Pros: speed

Cons: reliability in signals

Other Thoughts: Every day or other day it drops the signal, and then brings it back up in a couple of minutes. Like a Yoyo.
I was getting about 70 Mbps on wireless N, now Im getting about 350 with wireless AC in the same room.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy..Signal is very weak

Pros: It was inexpensive.

Cons: The signal is very weak. You have to be in the same room for it to be accessible. I can't access it from the adjacent room but can see wireless signals from routers in other homes in the neighborhood.

Other Thoughts: This router doesn't work beyond few feet of line of sight distance. I tried calling support while under warranty (it is still under warranty) but they told me that this is normal behavior and asked me to use a range extender or pay $29.99 for a one time incident to do some troubleshooting or $39.99 for six months of calls. The router is still under warranty but the company does not have a solution. Please read reviews and issues reported on other message boards and sites before buying. I would not recommend this router.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Sanjiv,

Thank you for providing us with a detailed product review. We feel your sentiments and we'd like to apologize for the inconvenience that you had with using the device as well as your experience with our support. Allow us to make it up to you. There are actually a lot of things to consider why the wireless connection is not stable. Based on how you've described the situation, this may be due to wireless interference with other networks or devices in range of the router in your area. Neighboring wireless networks or any appliance that operates on the same frequency as your wireless device (e.g. 2.4 GHz) may cause interference affecting your wireless connection and signal. Please consider relocating your router somewhere high or in an elevated area to get around the obstruction. Changing the wireless channel of your router will also help resolve this challenge. You may try channel 1, 3, 6, 9, or 11 since they are considered non overlapping channels. Please also make sure that the firmware is updated. You can check the latest one here:
http://www.linksys.com/ph/support-article?articleNum=148429.

If the workaround we provided doesn't fix it, please provide your contact details to LinksysCares@linksys.com and the link back to this post for reference. We hope to hear from you soon.

1 out of 5 eggsun-stable

Pros: appearance looks good

Cons: Never ever buy this product, it is very un-stable, you may need tune/restart it every day, otherwise you can't connect to internet, even you restart it everyday, it is not stable enough if you have high connectivity task. (i.e. remote desktop, online moive, many wifi devices)

Other Thoughts: NA

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Wenjin,

We value your feedback and we appreciate the time you've spent in writing them. We would like to know if you've ever done an update to its firmware. Normally, intermittent connection is resolved by doing an update to the device's firmware. Allow us to help you in doing this and in checking out the unit further. Please send us the details of your network setup at LinksysCares@linksys.com along with your contact details and the link to this post so we can start doing so.

We will wait for your email.

2 out of 5 eggsBetter than my CenturyLink C1000Z

Pros: Bought this on a NewEggFlash promo for $27, free shipping. After the other reviews, I was not expecting much, just wanted better wireless performance than the wireless portion of my Centurylink ZyXEL C1000Z DSL modem/router. I got it.

The wireless performance, and dropped connections, and reset interval was eliminated. This router, for 3 smartphones, 5 tablets, and 2 computers, all wireless, works well with no resets.

Cons: I was coming from a Cisco / Linksys Dual-band N router (don't have the model, :( ) that I had left at my folks after using it for a couple years. I left it there because it was faultless for me: Excellent range and wall penetration, good speed, and no resets needed.

I saw this on the NewEggFlash and thought if it had half of the radio performance / router as that one, I would be happy.

It is. Half. Range not as good. USB port on back does not work, but don't / never did care.

Still don't need to reset it, though, and the radio performance is better than the DSL modem.

There is some complaint about having to register for some nutty Linksys account, but if you hit cancel and work it enough times, you can just set it up manually via a browser, without installing software or registering anywhere. I don't use / don't care about any additional functionality, I just need this router to have adequate wireless performance and an absence of resets. I got that.

Other Thoughts: Don't spend more than I did, and it will offer value.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi David,

Thank you for your time in writing a detailed product review. We're glad to know that you've noticed improvements with your network when you started using this router. We'll take note also of your feedback and share it with the Engineering team.

For the wireless range, it might've affected with some interference. You may try to relocate the router or change the wireless channel on the setup page. You may access the Linksys Smart WiFi > Wireless > Edit the settings.

Feel free to update us via email at LinksysCares@linksys.com. We'd be more than willing to serve you.

Sincerely,

Linksys Support

2 out of 5 eggsEasy to setup but weak signal

Pros: It was easy to set up. It also has an USB port to share storage. Works well near the router within the short range it provides.

Cons: The signal strength is very weak. The connection fails from a room about 20 feet away with only another room with drywall in between. The connection works fine as the device is moved closer to the router. There is no adjustment for signal strength. My previous linksys router provided signal across two floors but this router doesn't work even on the same floor. I will try to look for solutions and update my review if I find one. Wireless is pretty much useless if you have to be within 20ft of the router. I am on the latest firmware of the router and the wireless device but that did not help

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Sanjiv,

Thank you for providing us a product review. To enhance the router's capability to broadcast the Wi-Fi signal, we recommend that you set a permanent wireless channel. Access the setup page by following the instructions in this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=143717. For the 2.4 GHz network, test channels 1, 3, 6, and 11. For the 5 GHz network, test 157 and 161. Updating the firmware of the router will also help. Visit this link for the full tutorial: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=140365

Should you need further assistance, you may email us your complete contact details, location, computer OS, and the link to this review at LinksysCares@linksys.com so our team may provide more solutions the soonest.

3 out of 5 eggsFor the novice user and simple application

Pros: The web enhance configuration experience will be good for some applications and people. Size is nice and the signal was good for a WAP without an external antenna.

Cons: No way to bypass the over simplified experience. I was planning to use it as a cascaded router behind the one supplied by my ISP but after a weekend trying to get it set up satisfactorily I gave up and sent it back. I will look for a more straight forward router for my application.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi, Darryl B.,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the EA6200 router. Your take about its functionality is what we need in the process of improving our product. Definitely, this will be shared to the team. However, with regard to your challenge on how to cascade a Linksys router to another router, you may check this link as your check list: http://www.linksys.com/ca/support-article?articleNum=132275 .

For any Linksys challenge you can send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com, make sure to include your contact details (full name, working phone number, and location) and the link to this post.

We hope to hear from you soon.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked 2 months then began degrading

Pros: Easy setup for novices. Runs cooler than my other routers.

Cons: After 5 or 6 weeks of just OK performance with just marginal signal quality in a 1700 sqf. single home with signal passing thru 1 sheetrock wall, the unit started dropping connections on the wi-fi side, then the speeds dropped dramatically. Only fix was constant reboots. LAN side works reliably so long as the wi-fi isn't running or it will affect LAN speeds as well. Look elsewhere as this one is a tragic waste of money.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Range and constant drops

Pros: Cheap and decent 5 GHz signals when in the same room as the router

Cons: Bad Range and constant 2.4 GHz drops and low Download speeds when it is working

Other Thoughts: I bought this Router to replace an old 2.4GHz only Netgear Router. Now I get constant drops and very bad range (You basically have to be in the same room or next room over). I tried to give it a chance and tried it out for a few months but there was no change and by then Neweggs 30 day return policy was up. So I went back to my old Netgear router after my family complained about how bad the wifi was and Im stuck with this useless paperweight

3 out of 5 eggsCould have been amazing.

Pros: - 128MB flash.
- 128MB RAM.
- USB.
- GbE ports.
- AC1200 at an affordable price.
- Serial headers included!

Cons: - It's an ARM CPU (vs. the MIPS in the previous routers), which is not a con by
itself. However, the CPU die size is a mere 5mm x 5mm (vs. ~25mm x 25mm
die size of the previous CPU SOCs), and that causes issues because of heat
not being dissipated to the heat-sink fast enough.
Hence all the issues with this router.
- The two WiFi chips run hot too, and have only the thin Faraday cage for
heat dissipation (!).
The CPU heatsink is big enough, but the WiFi chips should have had
heatsinks too. This is a flawed design of too many routers.

Other Thoughts: I had to cut the Faraday cages in half in order to add heatsinks to the two WiFi
chips. This was the easy part.
I bricked the router while mucking around with ddwrt, which is not supported yet.
This will be the hard part, since I have erased the nvram partition.
Warning to all: Do NOT erase the nvram partition of this family of routers.
