1 out of 5 eggsCan I give -5 star?

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Works very good as a paper weight. It has some blue LEDs makes my daughter giggle.

Cons: Does not work on windows 8.1 and that is all I used. I heard some people have success on windows 7, but I wont switch to windows 7 unless Linksys willing to pay for windows 7 licence. I tried multiple drivers as well and no luck. It works for a short time then disconnects and does not reconnect unless I restart the PC. I have a cell phone, tablet and a 2 laptops with 802.11ac connection and all works flawlessly. MY PC also works fine with other rosewill 802.11ac adapter or 802.11n adapters from asus and d-link.

Other Thoughts: Instead of buying this, donate the $50 to a good cause.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsStability at last..

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Stable
Fast
Simple install
Simple driver update

Cons: none I have found.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a Belkin F5D8055 with this. Was having all kinds of issues with the old Belkin. Totally unstable speeds from 140Mbps if I was lucky down to 6.5Mbps, around 50 to 6.5Mbps much of the time. Basically became unusable. Had a hard time even watching a youtube vid.
The Linksys WUSB6300 is highly stable, speed sits at provider max all the time..
A snap to install, updated to newest Driver from Linksys web site. Solid as a rock imo.
All my issues have disappeared...
I bought it as a refurbished unit for considerable discount.

using in a 2.4GHz "N" setup.

Works for me..

1 out of 5 eggsslow, poorly designed, and extremely expensive

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: It does work with 2.4 and 5.2 networks, albeit slowly, and it does fit in a standard USB drive.

Cons: Unfortunately, I bought this device before learning online that it is slow, poorly designed, and extremely expensive compared to ANY other product on the market. (I now have a generic device from Newegg that is tiny, twice the speed and performance, and less than half the cost.) I bought it from another retailer, and SADLY did not get the extended warranty. (Always get the extended warranty.) I currently have 9 days to go on the Lyncsys warranty, which allows refunds and returns for up to 90 days. Except Linksys/Belkin won't honor it. I heard various explanations for this--they had to ask the purchasing retailer and *they* said no, there isn't a warranty unless I bought it directly from Lyncsys/Belkin, all they can do is replace it. They are replacing the slow, poorly designed, and extremely expensive device with another slow, poorly designed, and extremely expensive device, and that is their response to my request that they actually do what they promised.

I've had probably 10 Lyncsys or Belkin products in the past, which all worked very well. I don't know why this one is an aberration, or if my customer service experience is an aberration. I will soon have a new, in-box Lyncsys WUSB6300, which I won't use, and a deeply dissatisfying and disheartening opinion of Lyncsys and Belkin as businesses, which I will use to guide my future purchases.

Almost any other such device on the market will give better performance, and probably come from a company that stands behind their products

1 out of 5 eggsHeinous. Do not buy.

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: It connects to wireless networks.

Cons: I have never had a worse adapter. It drops connections like an insecure guy at a singles bar. Most of the time I get thirty minutes at best from the adapter, sometimes as little as two or three. It seems to drop the connection entirely of its own accord- unplugging it and plugging it back in seems to fix the problem, but this is hogwash I shouldn't have to deal with when selecting an adapter. There's nothing like that delightful feeling when an online game hangs and drops its connection for absolutely no other reason than the adapter decided to have a conniption at that moment. While I rather like Linksys as a brand and have had few complaints about their previous products, this offering seems to indicate a decided drop in quality and suggests that another company may be a better option for my internet needs.

Other Thoughts: I would not accept this adapter if it was free. Do not buy.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

We value your time in sharing us your Linksys experience and we'd like to offer our assistance. To improve the wireless adapter's connection, make sure that the driver software is up to date. It is also recommended to place it at the location where it can get at least three wireless signal bars. Adjusting the router's wireless channels will help in getting a better reception.

We are here for you. You may send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact details and the link to this review. We totally understand how you feel. Hope that you would give us the chance to assist.

Pros: -Advertised Speed
-Low Latency (At first)

Cons: -Randomly Turns Off
-Already the 2nd product I had to return
-Randomly gets high latency over 8k ms to a router 6 feet away

1 out of 5 eggsBad Windows 7 Driver

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: None.

Cons: I have been fighting this thing for a year. It has bad drivers. I have tried the latest drivers that are even worse than the older ones.

The symptom of the bad driver is having to run "Troubleshoot drivers" to reset the hardware driver. The frequency is variable ranging from once every couple of days to a couple of times per day.

Other Thoughts: I reverted back to my old ASUS 54g and have ZERO problems.

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Drops the connection I have Windows 8.1 64bit. What I should I do to make this adapter stable ??

Cons: Drops the connection I have Windows 8.1 64bit. What I should I do to make this adapter stable ??

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Miko,

Allow us to help. Check if other wireless devices in your network is having an unstable wireless connection. If this behavior is observed in other wireless clients in your network, it's possible that the router settings need adjustments. You may want to change the wireless channel of the router to improve the connection. If the unstable connection happens in your Win 8.1 computer only, uninstall and reinstall the adapter. Try it on a different USB port of the computer. Install it on a different computer to further isolate.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

This review is from: Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n USB 3.0 Up to 867 or 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Quick, easy installation. Solid bandwidth. Good range. Great speed.

Cons: None at the moment

Other Thoughts: While this is a little pricier than other models from Linksys and competitors (Netgear, D-Link), I was most interested in a device I can count on. This installed into my desktop quickly and without issue, and I am receiving great signal strength from 40-45 feet away, on the other side of the house, through a concrete interior wall and 2 other normal stud walls.
