5 out of 5 eggsSimple, fast, cheap and very small footprint gigabit switch ... couldn't ask for more

Pros: This Linksys switch is simple, fast, and requires a VERY small footprint.
The package includes the switch, a small power supply, four self adhesive rubber feet to eliminate desk surface marring, and two screws complete with wall anchors in case wall mounting is preferred.
Installation is a breeze, just plug in the power supply and connect your cat 5e cables.
The switch is VERY well made with adequate ventilation, a robust metal cabinet and well marked ports.
Heat does not appear to be a problem whatsoever.
The ports and power connection are all on the rear of the cabinet and the indicator leds are all on the front.
This simple and robust switch looks as though it will last for a very long time.

Cons: Honestly tried to come up with a con but failed miserably.
This switch is priced right and operation is flawless.
Of course, this is networking gear, so who knows ... It could fail tomorrow, but I seriously doubt that.

Other Thoughts: I used this Linksys switch to replace an old 5 port Dlink switch which was only 10/100.
Compared to the old Dlink, this new Linksys is 10/100/1000, in a smaller and more robust metal case. It draws less current and it's cheaper than the older Dlink was when originally purchased.
When the Dlink was purchased (about 6 or 8 years ago) it was state of the art, but this newer Linksys just blows it out of the water.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid buy

Pros: Does what it's supposed to with no drawbacks

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: Got this at a great sale price to connect my room mates' consoles and pc's to the network. Works like a charm, no qualms here.

5 out of 5 eggs5 port switch

Pros: Cheap unmanaged switch for a quick network expansion.

Cons: No cons at this point.

Other Thoughts: Used it to expand the network behind an entertainment center instead of making several home runs for equipment that is seldom network intensive and to save on wireless bandwidth. The fully enclosed case will do great with occasional dust wipes.

5 out of 5 eggsGot Giga?

Pros: Rock solid Linksys based on their legacy Ethernet switches, only these support Giga Ethernet.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I've been upgrading to a Giga LAN as I replaced legacy equipment. When I upgraded to TWC 300Mbps service my Linksys Ethernet switches were the only link keeping me at 100Mbps. A quick order from Newegg and two days later the LAN is rocking at 300Mbps. Woo Hoo!

Before you call support complaining about 100Mbps on your 'up to (some higher number)' service, check that your LAN supports Giga Ethernet end to end.
