5 out of 5 eggsSolid & Easy to Use (For Medium-sized Homes & Modest Internet Packages)

Pros: -Sleek Exterior Aesthetics
-USB 3.0 Port for Fast Network Storage
-Great Network Range for Price Tier
-No CD Setup (always a fan of not installing more software)
-Dual Band (2 networks broadcasting simultaneously)
Environment:
I am testing this at my parent’s house, they have a medium sized home with a respectable 20 mbps from their ISP. For them, this is the right product for their house size and internet package. It also fits their budget, It has been running rock solid since the day I added it to the next work (May 2015).

Super Easy No-CD Setup:
Easy to use, either connect pc to router (also router to modem) with Ethernet or join the default wireless network that pops up to start configuring it. The web browser interface is very attractive and easy to use; items are in very thoughtful categories that are clear. I always and happy when I don't need to add more software to a computer for things that don't need it. Less software means less items starting up with the computer and bogging it down. Linksys was smart to make this optional (there is a CD included incase someone needs it).
Dual Band:
Having 2 networks being broadcasted (one in 2.4Ghz, Wireless N Speeds and one in 5 Ghz, Wireless AC Speeds) is great because you can put your older slower devices on the 2.4 Ghz band and your new high speed devices on the 5 Ghz band.

Cons: Cons:
-Only N300 mbps & AC 867 mbps speeds
(Made for medium sized homes and modest speeds)
-One USB 3.0 port

I only mentioned the network coverage and speeds as a con if you don’t fit the demographic this router is target to. At this price point the speed and range are what is to be expected. This is good for medium sized, 2 floor homes, with a modest internet package from your ISP. The same goes for the con on the 1 usb 3.0 port. Chances are, if you need to connect more devices to your router’s usb port, you are going to want the added benefits of the next model up because you will want the faster speeds and move coverage.

Other Thoughts: If you are not very technical (and don't have a large home), and you are looking for a modestly priced router with decent features available.... get this router. It's name brand, easy to use, and you shouldn't be disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS

Pros: when it works it was great.
linksys name

Cons: ports were literally dead and customer support was still trying to get me to trouble shoot the thing.
if you buy get the store replacement plan so you dont have to deal with the "suppot" at belkin.
belkin bought linksys and now a premium brand that was my go to is now !@#$
so disappointing.

Other Thoughts: do not buy this. do not buy this. customer service will do everything but rma, and then tell you how your not being charged and how lucky you are. spent 4 hours of my life trying to trouble shoot a dead router because i though eventually it would get rma'd. no just more trouble shooting. well you got me i give up. cutting my losses and buying something that isnt belkin or linksys. yay me.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage performance for steep price

Pros: On the technology front, the router offers everything you'd expect at this point:
- Gigabit ethernet ports
- N300 at 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz via the 802.11n standard
- AC867 using the 802.11ac standard (more on that in a bit)
- A USB 3.0 port
- Wireless/remote setup/monitoring

So, on paper, this looks like it will be a pretty solid router with decent features. Here is what works well:
- Gigabit ports
- N300 at 2.4 Ghz via the 802.11n standard
- A USB 3.0 port

In other words, everything that's expected tech performs as expected for mature technology.

Also, the form and design of the router are fairly sleek and minimalistic. However, that's about where the pros end.

Cons: Okay, on to the cons and the list is pretty vast. Right off the bat is the price. For a wireless router at this price point, you expect it to be reliable across the feature set and lacking significant bugs or performance deficits. However, that simply is not the case.

1. N300 at 5.0 Ghz via the 802.11n standard - look, it just doesn't perform well except at extremely close ranges and even then there is no perceivable benefit over 2.4 Ghz. It just doesn't perform sufficiently. There's a lot of 2.4 Ghz congestion in my area but not much 5.0 Ghz congestion. So, when using 5.0 Ghz you'd expect greater throughput. It didn't deliver any better than 2.4 Ghz. Which is to say no throughput greater than 122 Mbps -- which is in the 802.11n 2.4 Ghz level performance range.

2. AC867 using the 802.11ac standard - Same deal as above. It just doesn't live up to the hype ... yet. I'm sure this will develop and mature in a few years, but for now, there just isn't any increase in performance over 802.11n at 2.4 Ghz. I'm not sure why, but appreciably greater throughput with compatible products just isn't achieved. There were no other 802.11ac networks or devices in range.

3. Antennas - First issue is two antennas versus three. Three at this price point seems almost expected. While they're adjustable, they're not removable/replaceable. This likely contributes to the lackluster performance and ability to shape coverage throughout a home effectively. Their beamforming technology is meant to adapt for this -- but software based beamforming will never work like hardware based antenna coverage will. Stick to proven tech.

4. Heat - the device gets very warm. I'm not entirely positive if this will cause premature failure -- I assume it won't -- but it's surprisingly warm none the less. I honestly expected better fanless heat dissipation.

5. Mobile Setup - this is a "cool" feature that, for me, actually has value. I like to manage my network remotely when I travel or am off at work. That said, this is a function that shouldn't really be needed except in extreme cases. Unfortunately, I needed it more than I would like to troubleshoot performance issues and when you need to use for those reason, it usually doesn't work well and, of course, it didn't. It was plagued by connection issues and slow updates and lackluster performance over all. A potentially great feature that just didn't work out.

Other Thoughts: So, I used this for about 3 months before reviewing. I wanted to make sure I gave it a fair shot, tested it over time to ensure it wasn't a fluke out of the box, and really got to know the features.

I tried maximizing the location, antenna configuration, and software configuration to no avail. It's just -- ok. For the price, it doesn't deliver the performance it should.

1 out of 5 eggsterrible router

Pros: fast ac connection when it works.

Cons: not a reliable connection

Other Thoughts: This is a terrible router, was really excited the first time i set it up and got those crazy fast AC speeds but i let that distract me and had the thing too long and now i cant return it. Its very unpredictable on both wireless and wired. I have been booted out of many games cause my ping shot up too high randomly with no other device running on the network. And the wireless is the worst, you get very poor signal reception even on N i expected a less strong signal on AC. There would be times when I am on wireless with full bars that it would seem like the internet would be out, wired would still work. During that time if you try to ping the router it would return am average 2500 ~ 3500 ms ping which is just horrible, when an average home network should be <1 ~ 1 ms response time. Its updated with the latest firmware and from what i can tell they haven't released any in while and don't plan on it. I finally got fed up with this router and put back in place my older Linksys E1000 running DD-WRT firmware.

1 out of 5 eggsExpected Excellent. Received below Average.

Pros: - Good Price
- Gigabit Ports worked great

Cons: - Range is Horrible on 5ghz band.
- Throughput is TERRIBLE on 2.4ghz band.
- Router gets VERY hot. (design flaw which will probably lead to overheating of hardware eventually).
- Wouldn't buy again
- Essentially only usable as a 2.4ghz single band router

Other Thoughts: I previously purchased a Linksys WRT54GL almost ten years ago (still works) but finally decided to upgrade my router to the newer AC standards (was only wireless G). I stood with Linksys because of loyalty of high quality a product I purchased previously. Well since Belkin took over from Cisco... the quality has dropped dramatically. I preferred Cisco since they have always been more reliable and just a higher quality brand and this product proves my point. I live in a separated house and the wifi on the router is horrible.I have it elevated on a table away from walls (old house with paper thin walls) and my roommate struggles with throughput 15 feet away from the router!! To make matters worse, the router being so hot seems to now make the router jump up and down in signal strength and speed. the 5GHZ band is a joke and has the range of an arm length. being 5 feet away I get about 50mbps download (75mbps when I am wired) and then move another 10 feet away and it drops to 15-20mbps MAX. The speed also fluctuates rapidly which is horrible for gamers (produces lag). The 2.4ghz band has better range but the throughput is a joke to what is promised. Plus why buy a dual band router if you could only fully utilize a single band?!?! (2.4ghz). The router is really only great being wired in. In which I could of just paid less for a wired router instead of being promised a quality wireless router. I would not buy another one until they fix these issues (idk if it is their firmware or just the general hardware itself). I would rather have Cisco buy back Linksys from Belkin to be honest.

Don't buy this and instead pay more for a higher quality router than this junk.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsBroke twice, awful support, just going to eat it.

Pros: Great router when it actually works. Woe unto the man who must submit himself to the likes of Linksys support.

Cons: I was utterly tired of buying cheap routers and having them fail. SO I go out and get this router after a bit of research. I had had awful experiences with Linksys products in the past but knew belkin had bought them out since then and decided to try it out.

After 2 months the ethernet ports all ceased working. No communication to anything on them, though I could still connect to wifi. They light up upon powering on, then power off, and no amount of wire fidgeting will get them to throw a link light.

Obvious reason: The ports are shot.

So I call linksys and request an RMA. They tell me that they can't help me. I tell them there is a 1 year manufacturer warranty on the box, one of the reasons I bought this router. It had only been two months from purchase.

They say yes but since I didn't buy support for the router they can't troubleshoot it for me and ask if I'd like to buy support.

Now, I knew the right questions to ask so I didn't have to buy support to RMA my $150+ at the time router. Not everyone does, and they probably buy this support as a result of their ignorance. This is a disgusting practice.

I was shocked that they won't even troubleshoot their own faulty products, but I persisted. I said "well I don't actually need troubleshooting, I just need the RMA code. I know it's broken."

The guy on the other end acted like he was put out with me and eventually submitted with a warning that I would be charged shipping if I were wrong.

I said "that's fine, it's fairly obvious that the ports are shot."

I've worked in IT for 10 years. So I know that I needed an RMA, not troubleshooting. But Joe Schmo would have just eaten the cost of paying for "support." Which I think is something any reasonable manufacturer provides for, at the very least, their HARDWARE. Anything else is just operating in bad faith, as Linksys clearly has in my case, in my opinion.

To boot it broke about 3 months after getting it back from RMA. Worked great for a bit, then I noticed it started doing random restarts. Turns out if you transferred anything over the 5ghz band it just freaked out and power cycled. I just turned off 5ghz radio and it worked again. Though one band shy of "as advertised." But it worked.

For a while. Now it's losing connection to the rest of my network. I got a more reliable netgear at a flea market and moved this into my living room as an extender. Does a poor job even at that as it randomly drops connection to the main network.

I decided not to RMA it because I don't want to be talked down to by some tech support guy, or pressured into buying support that I'm already entitled to.

Just an excellent example of Linksys reliability, accountability, and customer service.

Steer well clear of this product, and Linksys in general. I only wrote this review because I'm about to drop some $$ on a replacement for my former router turned access point, and I shouldn't have to, and no one

Other Thoughts: Don't know if I'll get one of those "Manufacturer's messages" or not, but really don't bother, Linksys. It's a hard no, you can't help me, you had your chance.

Something I learned my first year of customer service: it's better to please the customer, even if they're wrong, than to make them a voice of opposition to you.

That's something a business such as yours should have at least learned the hard way by now.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Chester,

1 out of 5 eggsLinksys EA6350 = Poor wireless range

Pros: None

Cons: Very poor wireless range
Poor firmware support for a router that's still being sold on shelves in larger department stores.

Other Thoughts: It fails at its core function, being a wireless router. Does not provide a signal to multiple device only 20 feet away with no obstructions.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time in providing us a product review and we'd like to apologize for the inconvenience you've had with the device. We definitely want to check your unit out and assist you with the challenges that you're having with it. Adjusting the wireless channel on your router help improves the wireless range. ccess the router wireless setup page by following the steps in this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=132838. Once you are in the settings page, test channels 1, 6, and 11. We also recommend that you set a permanent wireless channel on the router to stabilize the wireless connection. You may also use apps like Wi-Fi Analyzer to help you choose the best channel for your network.
If the workaround that we've provided doesn't fix it, please email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link back to this review for our reference. We'd be more than willing to provide further troubleshooting to resolve this.

We look forward to helping you out.

1 out of 5 eggsLinksys EA6350 = Poor wireless range

Pros: Powers up.
Web GUI responds quickly to changes without the need for restarts.

Cons: Wireless range is very poor on the 2.4 GHz band. 5 GHz isn't much better.
Fails at its core function

Other Thoughts: The good neighbor policy built into the EA6350 seems to cripple it's wireless range. The signal quality is so bad that it consistently drops connections to devices sitting several feet from it. I tested this against several older single band routers I own and they all provide signal to devices that this one can not.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Robert,

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. The poor wireless connection could be due to wireless interference. We advise that you adjust the router's wireless channel to improve the connection. For the 2.4 GHz band, use channel 1, 6, or 11. For the 5 GHz, tweak the channels and choose the one with the best result. You may use the aid of free online tools/apps to choose the best channel for your network.

2 out of 5 eggsQuirky at best

Pros: Decent price, easy config, Media server feature is solid

Cons: The "smart wifi" technology and interface leaves a lot to be desired. I have only around 12-15 devices connected and it seems to get overloaded (my internet pipe is 75Mbps from provider) and many of the devices get recognized as the same device in the device lists. For example the Roku, Wii, and Smart TV may change to the same Identifier (ASUS Nexus Player). It's frustrating at best. As soon as i get the funding, I will be switching to a different brand, Linksys use to be the pioneer of network technology for home use, but as of late, they have been sitting in the corner eating glue and licking windows.

The media prioritization feature is horrible, you can only give priority to 3 devices, and those devices end up getting limited to 20Mbps connection.

Parental Controls work less than 25% of the time.

I have to reboot the router everyday to prevent the connections from lagging to a debilitating crawl.

Other Thoughts: Belkin, GIVE it back to Cisco so it can be great again.

Manufacturer Response:

Pros: none.

Cons: not reliable and goofy performances. stay with netgear/belkin for office work but you pretty much have to buy what gamers buy. the army only buys what gamer suggest because they have a low tolerance for resets or non reliable routers that cut in and out.
