1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: The Ethernet passes along the speed but I can plug into the modem if I want to do that.

Cons: Wifi performance is a joke! I ordered 100 Mbps service, and this router is choking wifi speeds to 16 Mbps Upload and 2 Mbps Download according to speedtest.net. I spent countless hours searching for solutions to the terrible wifi speed. I disabled QoS and that did nothing to increasing speed. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for your wifi system.

Other Thoughts: I'll never purchase Linksys again. This company doesn't even respond to the horrible reviews.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap Belkin unit with horrible WiFi performance

Pros: Cheap price

Cons: Bad hardware
Bad firmware
WiFi performance is horrible

Other Thoughts: I purchased this router because I wanted a gigabit router, knew that Linksys is top quality and the price was excellent (Too good to be true). When I installed it, I updated to the latest firmware. I did have some concerns from the start. There is only one hardware version for a router that was released in 2014 (Cisco constantly updated the hardware for quality assurance). Also, the firmware had only had two revisions and the second one was only for "performance improvements specific to Asia markets." Then I started using it and could not understand why the wireless had so many issues when Linksys was so confident in their product with no hardware or firmware revisions.
I then decided to switch to dd-wrt firmware hoping for better performance. And you can't get dd-wrt to install if you have any firmware other than the initial release. While attempting to download it from Linksys I noticed that the firmware was stored on a Belkin website. After further research, I discovered that in 2013 Cisco sold Linksys to Belkin. Everything made sense at that point, it is a cheap Belkin router that they put the Linksys name on. It should be noted that even with the dd-wrt firmware there are still issues with the router (Wired and wireless). Apparently even the dd-wrt firmware has trouble with the cheap hardware in the unit.

Hopefully this will be helpful to someone who might be considering this router. Save your money! I will not buy Linksys equipment in the future since it is now made by Belkin. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. This router is a perfect example of that.

2 out of 5 eggsnot stable

Pros: low cost

Cons: my last high-end asus router died after about a year, so i replaced it with this budget model. unfortunately this one drops both wireless and wired connections for about 1 minute, roughly once every 5-10 minutes. frustrating! firmware is v1.0.2 and as of this writing there are no newer firmware updates available for this model on linksys.com.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Good.

Pros: Basic Setup, Gigabit Ports without high cost, wifi better than my wrt160n (22mbps vs E1700 @ 40mbps), Range is fine for my application with no signal drops. Removable antennas, able to me wall mounted, easily handles my two desktops hardwired and 5 wireless devices all at once.

Cons: No USB port for network storage.

Other Thoughts: Initial setup is practically automatic not what I'd consider a Con, but it doesn't give many options during setup. So far it's a great upgrade for my home network by 60% in download speed and increased my wireless speed by about 20mbps. I'd suggest this router for anyone looking for something basic to get multiple devices online.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible from Cisco

Pros: Great price

Cons: I was unable to use a 25ft ethernet cable. I had to use a 15ft ethernet cable for the router to detect the modem.

Wifi randomly drops or is very slow.
Wired connection as random issues.

Had latest firmware installed.

Other Thoughts: I expected better from Cisco company.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well as Access Point for FiOS

Pros: I set this up as an upstairs wired access point for my Fios system when we had trouble using the Verizon provided Actiontec as a bridge. It works fine. The BIOS is a bit basic but that could be a good thing depending on your situation. This extended the range from my townhouse to the next building over with about 20 routers competing.

Cons: The range could always be better and the bios could use a few extra bells and whistles. As others have indicated, there are very few lights on the device so it may be troublesome to evaluate status from looking externally.

5 out of 5 eggsHoketech

Pros: Quick and easy setup, gigabit LAN and cheap.

Cons: Diagnostic lights on side with ports, LAN ports only have one indicator light.

Other Thoughts: Just needed router portion and gigabit LAN. So far throughput on LAN is 17~24MB/sec.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what it sas on the tin

Pros: It works as expected, very little needed in terms of configuration, pretty much just plug and play (as one would expect from a consumer-class router).

Cons: None to note at present.

4 out of 5 eggsYet another access point...

Pros: I got it to replace a broken access point, and didn't feel like working through the potential dual-band compatibility issues of "faster" routers. I'm running it "Bridge Mode" to an existing gateway, and hanging a network printer and a Win 10 Tech Review PC on copper in addition to the access point. The setup software was easy to use and useful.

The access point is fine for my phone data and voice over wireless, and other devices. After a month, still haven't had to reset it...

Price is reasonable. I have it wall-mounted on its side to save space and better cooling.

Cons: There aren't any status lights other than the port lights in the back, not even for power. No reset or connect switch other than the factory reset, or pulling the power plug - very bare bones, but functional.

Also, when I went to register it for warranty, the Linksys site didn't list this model in their drop-down, so I couldn't. Otherwise the router is fully supported on the Linksys site with firmware updates and management software.
