The Linksys AC3200 Tri-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router is designed for device-heavy homes with simultaneous wireless activities. Tri-band technology adds an additional high-speed 5GHz band for combined speeds of up to 3.2Gbps - up to double the AC performance of dual-band routers. Innovative Smart Connect technology optimizes the performance of your wireless devices by balancing them across multiple Wi-Fi bands. Its six active antennas - 3 external, 3 internal - provide six data streams and a 1GHz dual-core CPU ensures faster combined Wi-Fi speeds to even more devices without diminishing individual speed or performance. At a Glance:

  • Tri-band delivers the fastest combined Wi-Fi speeds
  • Six active antennas for optimal speed and maximum coverage on all your devices
  • 1GHz dual-core CPU delivers high-speed Wi-Fi for more devices
  • Beamforming technology focuses the Wi-Fi signal for stronger connections

Designed for homes with lots of wireless devices, the Linksys AC3200 Tri-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router has a powerful 1GHz dual-core CPU and bandwidth prioritization technology to simultaneously deliver the fastest Wi-Fi speeds to all your connected devices.

Six active antennas help eliminate dead spots while Beamforming technology focuses the Wi-Fi signal for faster downloads and stutter-free streaming and gaming. And with onboard Gigabit Ethernet and USB ports (including USB 3.0), the AC3200 ensures all your storage devices and peripherals are connected with blazing-fast transfer speeds.

Linksys

Tri-Band Wi-Fi with Smart Connect Technology
The Linksys AC3200 features tri-band Wi-Fi to deliver the fastest combined speeds to more connected devices. Smart Connect technology balances traffic load among the bands to enable combined speeds up to 3.2Gbps—that's up to double the speed of previous generation dual-band routers. High-bandwidth and low-bandwidth data streams are automatically prioritized for optimal speed and performance.

Linksys

1GHz Dual-Core CPU for More Simultaneous Data Streams
Not only is the AC3200 wireless router powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU, but it also has three integrated co-processors for a total of 2.96GHz of penta-core processing power. This means it can handle multiple high-speed data streams at once, delivering the fastest possible Wi-Fi connection to all your devices without compromising individual speed or performance.

Linksys

Six Active Antennas to Cover Your Whole Home
Six active antennas (three fixed internal and three adjustable external) deliver strong, reliable Wi-Fi signal throughout your home, eliminating dead spots, even in multistory houses. Six amplified antennas provide multiple streams of data for top speed and maximum coverage on all your wireless devices.

Linksys

Beamforming Creates Stronger, Faster Connections
With Wireless-AC technology, the AC3200 Wi-Fi router leverages Beamforming, an innovative technology that enables the router to strengthen the wireless signal to specific devices, rather than simply sending out Wi-Fi in a general direction. This results in faster network speeds, better wireless range, reduced interference from other devices, and stronger Wi-Fi connections.

Linksys

Smart Wi-Fi Software with Network Map for Greater Network Control

With Linksys Smart Wi-Fi software, you can monitor and control your home network at any time, wherever you are. For example, Smart Wi-Fi allows you to restrict Internet access at certain times of the day with parental controls. It also allows you to create unique Wi-Fi passwords for your guests, monitor and add devices on your home network, and check upload and download speeds. In addition, this software allows you to prioritize which devices on your network get the most bandwidth. This enables you to reduce lag times and buffering when you're streaming media or playing online games.

The AC3200 integrates a new feature of Smart Wi-Fi called Network Map. Network Map provides a visual overview of your network, allowing you to see all devices on your network, view their online status and signal strength, and measure how much bandwidth they're using at any time.

Linksys

Gigabit Ethernet and USB Ports for Connected Storage and More

  • Four Gigabit Ethernet ports deliver blazing-fast connection speeds between wired devices
  • Gigabit Ethernet is 10 times faster than standard Ethernet, making it ideal for fast file transfers to and from connected storage devices.
  • Two USB ports—including one ultra-fast USB 3.0 port—let you connect and share an array of computing peripherals.

2 out of 5 eggsPretty much what other reviewers have said

Pros: -Wired connection works fine

Cons: -Wireless connectivity issues are incredibly frustrating. I've tried updating firmware, resetting router and my devices, changing the wireless channel, etc. but the connection is dropped incredibly often. I had a D-Link DIR-850L before this and it had better range and was more reliable for about 25% of the cost of this.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jacob,

We can feel your frustration on your feedback and we appreciate your letting us know about this. Definitely not the experience we wanted our customer's to have and we're hoping you'd give us this chance to work with you in resolving these challenges with the Linksys EA9200. To improve your wireless connection, we suggest that the router be placed in a higher location to avoid possible wireless interference. Since other steps has already been tried, we recommend that the MTU size will also be adjusted. To determine the correct MTU, follow this link: http://www.linksys.com/ph/support-article?articleNum=134914

5 out of 5 eggsGreat and easy to use router

Pros: -Ease of use.
-Stability.
-Coverage.
-Speed.

Cons: -Requires a reboot every few weeks or so. Is that even a con? Much more stable and reliable than anything I've owned in the past.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to replace an Asus A7N8X, that was a huge waste of time and money, and couldn't he happier.

1 out of 5 eggsAbandoned Product by the Manufacturer

Pros: Cheaper than most other AC3200 routers; App is reasonably usable.

Cons: The performance is mediocre. Dropping connections from time to time. The worst part? It's not maintained by the manufacturer any more -- the last firmware update was December 2014. That's ridiculous. In today's age, not updating firmware for a new product for 13 months? Is Linksys serious?

Other Thoughts: I initially rated it 4 eggs. I bought it at a relatively low price and thought that I got a bargain for a AC3200 tri-band router. But after several month of usage, my kids started to complain the instability of WIFI. I then went to search for firmware update. To my surprise, the last firmware is still there dated December 2014. I was then forced to shelve it and bring out my backup Netgear router. I have never seen a manufacturer like Linksys who doesn't care its own product to such a degree. It's shelved there until if someday a new firmware could be possibly available.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

We appreciate your time for posting a review for this product. Rest assured your feedback for the firmware will be shared to the Engineering team. It’s definitely not our intention for you to experience challenges with the device and we’re hoping you’d give us a chance to look into the situation.

Are you having challenges on both wired and wireless connections? If you are, try adjusting the MTU size of the router. This article would be helpful for you to determine the correct size, http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=134914. Once you’ve figured it out, access the setup page and go to Connectivity > Internet Settings to change the MTU size.

If this is only happening on wireless connection, adjusting the wireless channel usually helps. Check out this article, http://www.linksys.com/ph/support-article?articleNum=143717.

Should you need further assistance, do not hesitate to email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com and indicate your full name, phone number, location, and the link to this post.

Sincerely,
Linksys Support

1 out of 5 eggsDies every few days. needs to reset

Pros: Fast when it works.

Cons: i am usually too busy for writing reviews. but i am really dissatisfied at this product because i had to come in the middle of a night a few times already to reset this garbage.

This router dies every few days. sometimes 1-2 times a day.

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE. its now after a return period and have to deal with warranty now.

I have two of these. both of them have the same problem.
oh and read some reviews on amz . same problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Ki,

We feel bad about hearing your review for the Linksys EA9200. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have and we'd like to further look into this. Were you able update its firmware? Where did you purchase the router? We'd like to have this checked as both units you own have the same challenge. 3 out of 5 eggsOk Router For Cable Avoid for Fios

Pros: Least expensive 3200 router - as an early adopter, this thing was $100 cheaper than anything else, and it's still less expensive a year later.

1 configurable 2.4ghz signal
2 configurable & stackable 5ghz signals
guest network option

Cons: This was for a tech home installation, and I use FiOS, so I bought this thing knowing I was going to run it in bridge mode - you can clone the network settings from the junk FiOS router, but you need its coax connection to get full functionality out of the STBs (TV boxes).

setup was a nightmare since I was bypassing the mickey mouse installation CD setup and Linksys remote registration.

you'd think unhooking the router from everything but 1 hard-line to my laptop & then tracing the IP via the default gateway in order to get to the router's web interface would be simple enough, but it took an hour with almost 20 resets.

bridge mode just died on me for reasons I still cannot explain last week. so I just gave up I. frustration & turned it off and activated the mixed-N wireless built into the actionec FiOS router. my mom came running in to hug me. apparently her computer had never run so fast in her life (she doesn't distinguish between comp, program, network, etc. - moms, right?).

after a week of being powered down, I got around to troubleshooting the network and router and cables. everything worked except the ea9200 was not bridging, hard lines and WiFi devices could obtain an IP from the dhcp server. Another hour resets and frustrations trying to direct connect to the router, and everything magically worked again. The settings are exactly the same as when things went haywire.

Knowledge base and community forum for this router are useless. the user guides & manuals are equally useless unless you use the mickey mouse installation CD and Linksys cloud system.

if you have any tech savvy and desire to do anything outside of trained monkey plug & play with your router, avoid this router. it's designed for technologically incompetent people. it will drive you crazy if you deviate from the script even a little.

Other Thoughts: I have not experienced the constant drops that other ppl complain of.

the 5ghz range does deteriorate about one and a half bars for every wall/door it has to pass through. I don't consider this unusual, but it did impact where I placed the unit. that was one advantage of using it in bridge mode: I could place it anywhere in the house that I wanted.

Stay away from this router for office or professional settings. I can't stress enough how frustrated you will become if you don't want to use the linksys scripted setup.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

We appreciate the time you spent in sharing your feedback with the Linksys EA9200. The router is designed with the Smart Setup software for an easy setup process. We are sorry to hear about your experience in setting up the router manually. Rest assured that we will relay your feedback to our engineering team.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk - Horrible Support

Pros: It turns on

Cons: Randomly Crashes
Horrible tech support / Treat people like you are in elementary school
Lack of Updates

Other Thoughts: Have 2-3 of these units at my clients offices. Notice they started to get stuck in a strange "reboot' cycle after a week or two of using them for 2 of them. They were all updated with the last firmware updated released.
Today, enabled the 5GHZ wireless on one of them (we use these as Wireless AP since i don't trust linksys to run my router functions for my networks) and after it rebooted itself, it would not stop rebooting. Attempted to reset but it just reboots/crashes (the linksys logo flashes indicating it rebooting/booting up). After 150 reboots in less then 1 1/2 hours and all attempt to fix, contacted Linksys support. Worst experience ever. First their website is completely broken (it takes you to a 1800 number that Verizon said isn't in service, I thought it was a joke and using my phone went to create a RMA and same support number appears saying the number doesn't work). I had to google for customer support. When I talk to a tech support person, felt like I was talking to a computer script. I told the person "give me a RMA, I have done EVERYTHING you can think of from rebooting the router (which it does on its own anyhow) to trying to reset which it can't due to the instant crash/reboot. The guy spend 40-45 minutes asking me questions like "did you turn your firewall off" and "can you ping 192.168.1.XX", I told the guy GIVE ME THE RMA already, i know it doesn't work and you are wasting my time. The guy keeps going with his computer script. After 45 minutes of him reading his monologue, he tells me I need to talk to customer support to issue a RMA. Dude, Aren't you customer support. The number he gave me was the same number I dial from google. Then after talking to customer support and also feeling like I was losing my brain cells and selecting the advanced version, I asked if they will pay for the shipping and they say they can't after 90 days and they can't do it, then the person just hangs up after I asked for a supervisor since you already going to hold on $300 + tax on my CC and this thing been driving me nuts at all my other locations, she pretty much puts me on hold and hangs up. I know the RMA was processed since I received the email but the customer support is the worst I have ever experience.

I am now force to replace all the other linksys we have since I can't trust the 90 days or 1 year support anymore and having to deal with 45 minutes or drama.

1 out of 5 eggsPurchased for our business, it's been a disaster

Pros: Ease of setup, up and running in no time, many great features, supposedly the "best AC3200" router money could buy at the time, but you'll find out it is hardly thought.

Cons: 1) Drops every device imaginable (iOS, Android, HP Desktops, Playstations, MacBooks, ASUS Laptops, Dell Desktops, iPads, iPhones. You just can't stay connected!)
2) If I go 20 feet from the router, it drops a bar. If I am outside, there is no signal. Constantly having to reset my WIFI/ROUTER to restore internet access.
3) Software is the same as it was 5 years ago, we didn't like the SMART WIFI UI before, we definitely still don't like it, but it's time it gets an upgrade.
4) Why we can't even work in our office: This router drops connections every time you connect, whether it's facetime or skype or streaming a video or YouTube, drop drop drop.
We had OPTIMUM ONLINE and APPLE/VERIZON check and even change our phones and devices and after all IT WAS THE ROUTER ITSELF. Who would of thought?????

Biggest mistake was paying a premium price tag for a device that replaced an dual band and performs less than our old Linksys WRTG router. (Probably the last quality made product from Linksys before buying bought by Cisco)

Other Thoughts: I regret purchasing this router. And I should have known better, as I was in the market to replace another horrible Linksys E4200V2 router with a tragically weak signal. I went from bad to worse. This will be my last Cisco product after over 20 years of going with their brand.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Louis,

We appreciate your time for sharing this detailed review. We’re sad to hear that our device has caused you a lot of inconvenience. Since the signal is the main concern, it is best to perform a firmware update on the router. You can download its firmware from this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=148495 , and here’s a link explaining how to perform a manual firmware update: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=140365
Should you need further assistance, you can email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com. Please include your contact details, location and a link to this review in the email. We hope to hear from you the soonest.

3 out of 5 eggs50-50

Pros: Once the router was configured, it's stable and fast. There is a lack of features - but for most users this will still be more than enough for you. Tecchie people that want to watch each bit pass thru should avoid it.

Cons: Wow.. I'm a 20 year full stack developer that did net admin for 5 years. I built a cloud configuration for the place I was employed at a couple of years ago.

It took an hour for me to get the router up and working.

As soon as I plugged it in to my comcast connection, the router said to unplug it and wait for two minutes, then plug it back in for two minutes. Skipping past the seven hard resets finally got me to a screen where I could skip the web configuration and actually config the router without a wizard. The first config required a hard reset since I changed more than one thing at once. Once I changed one thing, saved it, changed another thing, saved it - it finally worked after I got the configuration. done. Then I updated the router, lit locked up and stopped working so I had to do a hard reset, then configure it again.

Had I just had an option to go right into configure it locally, I probably would of been done in ten minutes. . I didn't like having to use an email to set the router up, but since they accepted my EULA by replying to belkingacceptsrayseuala@ I am not bound by their EULA. .

Other Thoughts: I like the router, hated the setup wizard and so far it's working fine. I hope Belkin changes the setup to allow techs to go straight into configuration, and drops the silly registration stuff.

Of course, as they accepted my EULA, I get one million dollars tax free every time they annoy me now :) Aren't End user license agreements GREAT!

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: I can not think of any positive things to say about this router other then there is a speed test built into the GUI...

Cons: The device does not offer much in configuration. Devices are unable to ping each other on the same SSID and there is not an option of client isolation nor is it a guest network. The performance of the device does not meet anywhere of what was expected.

Other Thoughts: Save your money and buy something else

Manufacturer Response:

Hi James,

Your feedback is important to us and we regret to hear about the challenges you've encountered with the Linksys EA9200. We would like to know on which network your devices were connected to when you tried to ping them. We would really appreciate if you'd share with us the details and difficulties you've experienced so we can sort it out.
