2 out of 5 eggsSave your Money and get the EA6500

Pros: Good speed with tons of bandwidth. Range is ok, but not superior to the EA6500. I wouldn't pay the additional cost.

Cons: Router bit the dust in 10 months. My kids are constantly streaming but really, 10 months! Drops off 3-4 times per day. Sending it back to Linksys.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is 2015

Pros: Gigabyte, fast wifi, and secure

Cons: Although fw was upgraded the router is practically unusable
1. high bandwidth usage = crash
2. Usb3 hdd (ntfs/1tb) usage = crash and data corruption
3. Usb2 = detecting hdd (ntfs / 1tb)
4. Randomly crash for no reason
5. Lan connections over Ethernet disconnected for no reason

Possibly the worst router I have ever purchased

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Features Bad Connectivity

Pros: It is easy to use and set up.
Wireless N worked perfectly for about four months.

Cons: I have owned this router for about four months now. When we first got it I tested the connection speeds on both bands. The AC band was getting terribile rates (about 10Mbps) but I only had one device at the time that could even connect to AC so I wasn't overly concern. Especially since the N network speeds were good (about 40Mbps).

Fast forward four months....both networks now have terrible speeds (less than 5 Mbps) and the AC network refuses to connect a majority of the time. I am going to have to buy another router now since the 90 day warranty has expired. I contacted customer support who wanted to go through the standard reboot, update firmware, etc. Just an all around frustrating experience.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Wireless Router

Pros: Good Wireless Router. Good range with AC built in. Allows great control of the traffic of the wireless.

Cons: runs a warm, find a good place with ventilation.

Other Thoughts: Works better than the Valet I had prior.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure To Launch

Pros: Pretty Cool Antennae

Cons: Impossible Setup, Firmware written by Ferrets

Other Thoughts: Bought this one to replace another brand that was dropping some packets on a small (25 devices) network. First thing it asked was "Create and Account" but it would connect with the net so the account could be created. What moron creates a router that makes it impossible to get to the basic communication settings unless it is online?? I eventual figured out, no help from the linksys website (because it would not connect me) that if you disconnect the unit from the net, it gives you the option of directly logging into the unit. This was after, I took it offline and put it on a test bench where it had no access to the net. Installation CD with documentation was useless. Really a big problem for Linksys, I had moved on to other brands some years back, but decided to give this one a chance. Complete disappointment

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Meet Expectations

Pros: The router is easy to set up with the GUI and smartphone apps. Changes can easily be made to your network via your devices. Wireless N network works flawlessly.

Cons: Wireless AC is sporadic and does not get more than 20 Mbs. I tested the speeds using multiple configurations and devices. I thought it may be something with my ISP so I called a technician out to test. Sure enough the router AC band does not work correctly. I tried flashing the bios but am still having the same issue.

Other Thoughts: This router has a lot of potential to be great at a great price.

2 out of 5 eggsAll I wanted was an RMA!

Pros: Easy to set up, good range, excellent N-band speeds

Cons: Linksys Support is absolutely horrible, AC band keeps dropping devices, with router in "mixed" mode instead of N-Only the internet connectivity drops every 45 minutes to an hour or so.

Other Thoughts: This router replaced an ASUS RT-N66U.

I was very happy with the setup, range, and N-band speeds that I am getting out of this router. I would probably rate this device as a 5 out of 5 out of the box after using it for about 10 minutes or so.

As I only had one AC compatible device when I first got this, it never connected properly and thought it was the device. In troubleshooting with different devices and laptops, I found that the router was the issue, and it also seemed that every time I enabled AC for very long, I'd have problems with Internet connectivity. I mistakenly contacted Linksys Support for what is clearly a hardware issue and my experience was/is so bad it compelled me to write this review.

Even after proving it was a hardware issue and demonstrating it "live" on the chat, they still will not give me an RMA and continue to give me the run around. I am now to try a few more troubleshooting steps that will yield the same result and then continue to wait for further instructions like reset the router (again) and reflash it (again). Extremely frustrating and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

I am sure that once this is resolved and I get a new router that I will have a much better experience with the device as, for the most part, it has been headache-free. Just hope that you don't get a troubled device from the start because Linksys support is absolutely terrible and you will get run in circles.

3 out of 5 eggslinksys router

Pros: Delivers fast gigabit speed, very easy to setup, good wireless range.

Cons: Seems to drop connection pretty frequently, after a little investigation I noticed that the Ethernet cord coming into the router from my modem is kinda loose in the connection on the router (not sure why, almost like the port on the back is too big) and if the router gets moved a little the connection drops to my switch.

Other Thoughts: wish there was some way to fix the issue with the port on the back.
