3 out of 5 eggsDecent Router

Pros: Well.. it works. I like it's size and rectangular form.

Cons: Had to call D Link customer support to get it working, comes with little information. Troubleshoot guide is a html file (open with IE) but guess what.. if there's something wrong of course I wouldn't have an internet connection.. so how the heck can I read the troubleshoot guide..

Other Thoughts: It's still working and hopefully will continue to work for a long long while.
I've ordered a second one but haven't set it up yet. Hopefully I won't have to call D Link again.

1 out of 5 eggsBought two; both died with the same problem

Pros: Worked well for quite sometine. I really like the parallel printer port and print driver. Configuration options were quite complete. Firewall/DMZ functions worked very well.

Cons: I've owned two of these DI-704P's: a version 1.x which died after 2-3 years; when I say "died" it still functioned as a router and print server but REFUSED to connect on the WAN port to the cable modem.

I had a version 2.x of the same device as a backup, which I installed after the first one 'died'. After only a couple of months, the new one has developed THE SAME _EXACT_ PROBLEM. I cannot access the internet although it routes my local subnet and print server flawlessly.

It is incredibly annoying and frustrating to have my internet down (I have 20+ computers on my home subnet that do grid.org cancer crunching) and I will _never_ purchase another D-Link product because of thiss experience!!!

3 out of 5 eggsAn OK router, but not great one

Comments: I've had two of these; the first quit working in stages with LAN connections dieing one by one over a two week period after about one year. Finally it just died completely. Both it and its replacement (same model) drop the connection for no apparent reason about once per month. Sadly, this appears to be one of the better routers judging from all the comments. A buddy of mine had a similar experience with his two.

Newegg is great, but UPS is not up to their standards. UPS must be cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsCompany has poor customer service

Comments: I received my DI-704P defective out of the box. I contacted the manufacturer for customer support and it took way too many phone calls before they finally submitted to the fact that my brand new router is broken. Weeks later I received a replacement and it works OK. I have to reset it too often at least twice a week.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome first time router

Comments: This was my first router and it was easy to setup and worked like a charm. The html firmware in the DLink admin bar was great. Had this router for 2 years and only had one problem with the power adapter going out once. Cust Support sent me a new router completely free. Just upgraded to DI-624 Wireless G...it rawks too! Awesome and easy to setup, encrypt, and my laptop found it immediately. So far no problems with DLink!

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Worked like it should right out of the box. Fast, simple to configure and looks great too. One of my computers running WinXP Pro wasn't able to connect but I called D-Link Tech Support and they had me up and running in 5 minutes. The problem was that the Network Bridge in my computer had to be disabled and <font>d</font>eleted. Oncethat was done all my machines were 100%: 2 PCs and a Mac Powerbook. Their tech support is great and Newegg had the router to me in NY in three days. I would do it all over again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Comments: i needed a cheap router/print server for my newly acquired small office, network setup and configuring with DSl connection were very easy, seems very stable and performs really well, i have been runnin everything 24/7 for the last week without any network/internet errors whatsoever, i know some people have said that upon setting rules, their model locks up, but Port forwarding , and setting up a static ip have been no prob at all.

Comments: Great router at a good price. I only wish that I would have done my research first about what printers would/wouldn't work on the print server function. My old HP was on the wouldn't work list :o( Its still a great router for the price. Seamless transaction was made with NewEgg and fast shipping. Two thumbs up

Comments: Got router today. Hooked it up and internet worked without problem. Didn't even have to use the CD. Setting up a printer could have been easier (directions weren't very good), but no real complaints.
