This sucks
- Pros: This product works great with Windows XP.
- Cons: This will not work with anything higher then Windows Vista 32bit. If you have a Windows Vista 64bit or Windows 7 don't wast your money.
not all that great
- Pros: Firewall appears to work, filtering seems to be doing the job
- Cons: This thing was a really bugger to get set up properly, partially due to my own misinderstanding of what its limitations are. Tech support was horrible - after spending over an hour on the phone with them telling me the same things over and over, they finally told me to box it up and send it back. I decided to do some online research before doing that, and I have been able to get it to work.
- Other Thoughts: With the opportunity to do it all over again, I would not purchase this product. It took me several hours to get through the initial setup and installation of the firewall and client config on three computers. My key misunderstanding before purchase was that I would not need a router behind the DSD-150. I thought I could run my cable modem into it, then it into a D-Link switch. As it turns out, you still need a router stuck in there. So now I just have it sitting between my cable modem and router, with the router's firewall disabled. The DSD-150 seems to be doing the job (my router's firewall keep locking down, so I had to reboot it every day) and this has solved that problem.
Don't even bother
- Pros: small looks cool, has lights that flash.
- Cons: Purchased this from an online auction, came brand new in box never opened. Was able to get connection after a few attempts but not able to get the setup screen. Called D-Link twice with no solution (what a joke that was) and then they advised me to call Securespot in which I had to leave a message. Appears that D-Link doesn't even want to support this product. Now I have a neat little box that flashes that I have know idea if it is doing anything or not.
- Other Thoughts: I thought this sounded like a great option, started looking at these about 6 months ago but because of the reviews being so up and down decided not to buy at the time. Was looking at different firewalls and other internet security options and thought what the heck lets give it a go. Wish I had kept my money. I always try and give accurate reviews and this time I must say you need to leave this product alone. As for Newegg, I wish I had bought from them because I could then return it. As always Newegg rocks!!! and this is where I buy almost all my PC needs.
