The D-Link RangeBooster Wireless router (WBR-2310) gives you improved wireless range and speed over regular 802.11g routers. With a faster connection you can spend more time enjoying the Internet and less time waiting for file transfers and buffering streams. With farther wireless coverage, you can connect to the network from greater distances. The 802.11g wireless standard is backwards compatible with the older 802.11b standard, too, allowing it to work with a wide range of Wi-Fi-enabled equipment.
The WBR-2310 uses a wizard for setup so creating a wireless network for your home takes only a matter of minutes. That includes making your network secure with your choice of 128-bit WEP encryption, WPA-PSK, and WPA-EAP as well as advanced firewall features stateful packet inspection (SPI) and network address translation (NAT) with VPN pass-through.
Pros: Range Boost really does work (unlike Netgear), simple design, quick setup, excellent GUI, brick shape allows for easy stacking with other external components, 20 rules allowed for applications, virtual servers, and port fowarding, robust manual controls for wireless network, separate list of wireless DHCP clients, easy to read logging system. Automatic one-click MAC address and IP address entry by client name is fantastic, saving me a huge amount of time because I no longer have to write down and manually enter each MAC address.
Cons: Range Boost and Turbo G features don't really work at the same time, Turbo G support limited to D-link wireless adapters, restarts are slow, taking at least 25 seconds each time, maximum of 20 MAC filtered clients is somewhat limited.
Other Thoughts: My old router had a very weak signal in certain areas of my building. I tried a Netgear Rangemax MIMO G router which cost twice as much as this D-link. It did nothing to fix the signal problems, and its GUI was a nightmare to navigate. The D-link Range Booster G solved the signal issues. All of my laptops using Marvell wireless adapters and Centrino adapters received very poor signals with Turbo G enabled. This router doesn't seem to play nice with anything but D-link adapters in Turbo G mode. With Turbo G disabled, all my clients had full bars and full speed. I would recommend this router, unless Turbo G is an important feature to you. Its GUI makes those of Linksys and Netgear look extremely poor.

Pros: Easy setup. This router replaced a wired router. Had no problems getting connected. Range is good. The router is upstairs with the desktop and I have been using the laptop downstairs with good speed.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Having setup and used other brands and an older D-Link wireless at work, I found this a great router for the money.

Great router, bad instructions
Reviewed By: Zackcy on 11/29/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Bought it from Best Buy and it has worked well. I'm playing Call of duty online with no problems. Strong connection (it's 2 feet away from my Wii =). This thing was well worth the money. I can go anywhere in my house and web browse on my PSP. It also comes with a nice blue ethenet cable.
Cons: The setup up disk had HORRIBLE instructions. The "internet" port on the back actually reads WAN. With my modem and computer both connected to the the router through the regular "1,2,3,4" ports, the computer rebooted itself everytime I tried to open Internet explorer or try to insert the CD. After an hour of messing around I looked at the bottom of the router and it had a clear picture with correct labeling of all the ports. After following that, everything worked fine.
The router has a sticker that says something like "Don't touch, insert the CD first" when you dont' even need the CD at all. It will just make things way worse for you. I should have just done it myself instead of read insturctions, but I dont' like taking risks with electronics.
Other Thoughts: An embrassing ordeal for someone who builds computers.....wow. Anyways it's a good router and it works. 5/5. Here is how you manually plug it in.
Modem--> WAN port (grey) Computer--> Lan port 1 (blue)
You can hook up any device that uses Ethernet to connect to your LAN on the other 3 LAN ports.
Good router overall.

Pros: None
Cons: this is not a good wireless device I could never get it to keep a connection. I tried every combination of settings I could and it would not hold a connection. After losing the wireless ID, I could never pick it back up unless I restarted the router. I could pick up neighbors device's but my wireless pc could not find this one unless I restarted the router, as many others users have also written.
Other Thoughts: this is a dog! Save yourself a lot of problems and dont buy it
