2 out of 5 eggsbugs

Pros: When it works it does most of what it's supposed to.

Cons: Forgets that printers are attached, must power off and on for it to find them again. Only works with static ip address. At least 10 times it has completely lost it's configuration forcing a reset and reconfigure. Has no provision to force install a printer, which is useful when upgrading OS to Vista or 7 and their associated universal drivers.

Other Thoughts: With wireless printers coming of age these devices are becoming obsolete. Never found one that worked well, but this one may have been one of the best.

5 out of 5 eggsAs advertised

Pros: Has worked great with 3 different printers for more than 2 years! I would buy another one if they were in stock.

Cons: Setup is a bit complicated. Not in stock

2 out of 5 eggsNice when it works

Pros: Run print and scan jobs from your browser on Windows or Mac.

Cons: Can require deep investment in time and knowledge

Other Thoughts: This device sits on the self, then I dust it off and go through the pain of set-up.
Last time I spent half a day with a D-Link tech as we reset and redid step by step until we sort of got it working, whcih worked great until the DHCP reset the IP...the Mac worked when I google-found the solution in a forum (non-mac, non d-link)

1 out of 5 eggsUnbelievably awful product

Pros: Worked well for one day.

Cons: Installed exactly as described in the installation guide, but was all downhill from there. Drops connections, can't find the wireless signal from my router, can't find attached printers -- you name it, this poor excuse for a paperweight gets it wrong. Unbelievably poor quality for a D-Link product.

Other Thoughts: Returning it after 3 days of frustration. Will not buy another D-Link product unless it's the last thing available in the world. D-Link has really slid down the chute. I used to be a big fan of D-Link products, but this one bad experience wiped out years of good will in my book.

I really wish I'd paid attention to the other reviews before purchasing this thing. (Newegg needs to provide a zero egg rating because this thing earned it!)

5 out of 5 eggsreliable

Pros: Still going great. Bought 2 years ago. The scanner function on my Canon MP470 is not compatible. However my Epson was and I can scan to my PC Win 7 64bit.

Cons: Check printer compatibility list on Dlink forum before you buy..

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems whatsoever

Pros: Works with more devices than advertised. I bought this to act as a print server for a Brother HL-2140. D-Link's website only listed the Brother HL-2040 in their compatibility list so I was a bit wary of unboxing this, but I decided to try it and wasn't disappointed. Configuring new computers to use the printer in a Windows environment is as simple as pointing the browser to the right place, downloading a small executable and running it. Seconds later you're ready to print.

Cons: Setup may be intimidating for those who are not comfortable with setting up networks.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible performance - Beware

Pros: The printer server wold be nice in terms of allowing up to four printers to be connected to it. That's a very desirable feature ... if it works.

Cons: Erratic behavior. Have to reset it about ten times a day. Product support not very useful. They tell you to reset it. So, you have to reset it about three or four times for every print job. A total waste of time. Had to disconnect it and still searching for a better product. Totally disappointed in D-Link.

4 out of 5 eggsFollow up to my first review

Pros: see my review - Canon MP600 & Epson PictureMate, Win 7 x64

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Works fine from my laptop (2nd computer) as well. In fact, the D-Link printers were already in the printers and device menu . So all is good. Basically this thing works flawlessly.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Small, wireless, 4 ports.

Cons: Instructions could provide more detail; interface seems slow; so far doesn't work with my scanner.

Other Thoughts: So, I read a lot of the reviews and was a little hesitant to buy, but I needed a multi-port wireless print server, and the price was right. I'm on Win7 64 using a Canon MP600 and Epson PictureMate Deluxe. After getting no signal, I realized I had entered the print server's MAC address incorrectly. Also forgot to add the print server to my router's allowed list of devices. Duh. After fixing those everything worked fine. I didn't really have to do anything special to get it all to work. First print test page was slow, but after that it printed quickly.

Upgraded firmware without issue after I had it all hooked up.

Didn't have time to add my laptop but (hopefully) that shouldn't be an issue.

So far I like it.
