3 out of 5 eggsRMA returns might be a problem

Pros: switches work great when they work. When they done...

Cons: RMA process seems to be set up to bill you if you don't save all the stuff that comes with it. I had to RMA one today and here's part of the email I got:

Please be sure to include the following items:

1 x Dlink Switch
1 x AC Power Adapter ($25.00)
1 x Rubber Feet ($2.00)
1 x CD ($12.00)
1 x Copy of Proof Of Purchase

Please return all listed bill of materials, failure to do so will result in the billing of your credit card for the missing parts at standard replacement pricing.

SO...if I didn't save the CD that came with it, they want to charge me $25?!?! That's almost as much as I paid for the thing.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for Gaming

Pros: I bought this to hook up my xbox and pc both to my router. I didn't see any noticable slow down in gameplay on xbox live. The thing is completely plug and and play, just connect it to your router and then whatever devices you want internet on.

Cons: None that i know

Other Thoughts: Was thinking on a small network with only a few connected devices a hub would be faster, since a switch will detect which mac address the packet is intended for and send it only to that device, this should take some time.... a hub will just repeat the packets to everyone, with only a few connections i was wondering if it would be faster. But, since almost nobody even makes hubs anymore, I got this switch and it does the job.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: The switch itself. It's quick to get up and running, it's reliable, and it's cheap. What more can you ask for?

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Typical D-link stuff....they do what they do, and they do it well. Love it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great SOHO switch. Like a previous reviewer posted, it does what you'd expect from a desktop switch.

So far the switch has been stable and can handle large amounts of traffic.

Cons: It is a personal preference, but I would prefer the activity LEDs be on the ports either in addition to or instead of the front of the switch.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Easy to setup. Plug and play. Great performance. No problems. Wall mountable and comes with screws/anchors.

Cons: There is not a dedicated uplink port.

Other Thoughts: Mail in rebate topped this off. If you have the network configuration option upgrade to the gigabit version.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome switch

Pros: Works right out of the box. Just plugged into my router, gave it a good 5-10 minuets and plugged in the extra equipment that needed net access.

Cons: I did notice that my whole network was chugging for a good two hours after plugging in the switch. It did clear up though, but it was a major annoyance.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this to friend's and family who needed to expand their home network. Would also buy this again if I ever needed further expansion.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what you expect

Pros: Does exactly what you would hope and expect from a switch. I have this in a non-ventilated area, and this has never warmed up at all. Eight ports is just what I needed and it fit the space I had. Obviously, you plug it in and setup is complete.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great little switch. I had a rebate on it that was just that much handier. I replaced a 24 port that had a fan built in, the room is quieter and this does not put off heat like my old under-utilized switch did.
