Securely share high-speed Internet access and files with computers, game consoles or media players from greater distances in your home or office. The D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) lets you quickly create a secure wireless network using the latest Draft 802.11n wireless technologies offering greater range and data speeds than the older 802.11b/g standards, (when used with compatible Draft 802.11n wireless adapters) while still being fully backwards compatible with them—perfect for mixed-mode environments.

The router's MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology also makes it a natural choice for multimedia fanatics, minimizing errors and optimizing data speed through the use of multiple antennas for both sending and receiving.

Need to give voice, gaming, or media streaming priority over other data? The DIR-655 has integrated Intelligent QoS (quality of service) technology to do just that. The router analyzes wired and wireless traffic and separates it into multiple data streams. These streams are prioritized by sensitivity to delay, so applications like VoIP (voice over Internet protocol), video and music streaming and online gaming are given priority over Web browsing.

  • newegg 802.11n Support Compliant with draft 802.11n, the D-Link DIR-655 delivers up to 14X faster speed and 6X farther range than 802.11g-compliant devices. The router is backward compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b devices as well.
  • newegg Intelligent QoS Technology With D-Link Intelligent QoS Technology, wired and wireless traffic is analyzed and separated into multiple data streams, which are then categorized by sensitivity to delay, so applications like VoIP, Video Streaming and Online Gaming are given priority over Web browsing. Therefore multiple applications are streamed smoothly to your TV or PC.
  • newegg Gigabit Network Connection The D-Link DIR-655 features 4 Gigabit LAN ports to provide up to 10X faster speed than most 100M network connections and excellent usability for office networks.
  • newegg Advanced Network Security The D-Link DIR-655 supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 standards for use of the best possible encryption regardless of your client devices and features built-in firewall to prevent potential attacks from across the Internet.
  • newegg Works with Windows Vista The D-Link DIR-655 has passed rigorous testing to ensure ease of use, excellent performance and enhanced security, delivering a superior experience.

5 out of 5 eggsNice unit..

Pros: Great performance, wire-line speeds quite acceptable for a consumer router (we have the radio disabled as we use a couple Linksys APs)
Handles win7 and our LAN requirements quite well
Hasn't crashed or reset on me yet. (i.e. too many connections, out of memory, etc.)

Web GUI is nice, well laid out, and very easy to use. Would like to see some higher end options as well as BW monitoring

Cons: Have to reboot after the simplest configuration change..
Not ready for IPv6 out of the box.

Other Thoughts: So far it's been a wonderful router especially compared to my almost 10 yr old SMC.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Router

Pros: Good Gigabit Router. Wireless G works as well as my old linksys router

Cons: When mixing G and N, I saw a significant speed drop in my G.

Other Thoughts: If you only use N, I think this is a great router. But I don't see everyone just using N. Still a Good router

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Get This Routor Guys!

Pros: Fast downloading, good for gaming, internet with wireless B/G is Awesome

Cons: The signal strength of the router drops from 100% to 50% if you don't put your wireless devices close to it and you may experience connection drops when your using the wireless part of the router.

Other Thoughts: Guys don't get this router if your look for a cheap router don't pick this one go with Linksys router if your looking for Gigabit and wireless N linksys, Belkin and Netgear maybe the only ones to get it right plus this has 3 antenna but still the signal strength doesn't stay above 90% The biggest rip off i ever Purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: Easy setup. Decent firewall, scheduling, and other security features.

Cons: Everything else. Wireless is basically unusable. This router is so error-prone that outside of 10 feet, just forget it, so you might as well be wired. Between errors and dropped packets, I could be the only node (single wireless user) on this router and still get lousy speeds because of all of the errors encountered.

Other Thoughts: I had more luck with my previous G Linksys router. I think i'll swallow this huge mistake and go backwards to get better reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsXtremely Powerful

Pros: The price:performance ratio is superb. I have several game consoles, and at least 5 computers sharing a router at any given time, and it was putting too much stress on my old Linksys 54G. After upgrading, all my latency issues disappeared instantly. The QoS controls are intuitive and actually work! The range and speed are tremendous (before, I was barely able to get signal at the outskirts of my house; now I can pick up 5 bars of signal at my neighbor's house). The router hasn't dropped signal or reboot on me once, which is a huge relief.

Cons: The blue lights can be blinding.
Doesn't support dd-wrt.
Requires you to change some initial settings to get everything working as advertised.

Other Thoughts: The breakfast it makes me tastes like cardboard.
Also, this is the 1337th review of this product. Win.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but needs some tweaking

Pros: - 802.11N
- Gigabit Ethernet

Cons: - Some minor connection problems in "n" mode

Other Thoughts: Overall a pretty nice router, although I did see intermittent issues with wireless connectivity. Disabling the auto-channel setting and hard-coding a specific channel made things more stable.
Disabling the "n" mode and enabling just "g" worked flawlessly, but that of course defeats the point of having a "n" router in the first place.
Did not come with the latest firmware installed, which includes some bugfixes. Firmware can be downloaded from the D-Link website.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't act as bridge

Pros: Wireless N

Cons: Overpriced for just a plain router. I bought two at work to use as a wireless bridge but it wasn't documented anywhere that Dlink removed support for this so it was a big waste of money. Never buying DLink products again. Also the setup software would froze my computer every time i tried to use it.

5 out of 5 eggsMost Router Reliable I've Owned

Pros: Reliable
Resilient
Fast

Cons: Short warranty from D-Link

Other Thoughts: I've owned a DIR-655 for a year and a half. It proved to be very reliable and having several high-def devices on my network never presented a problem for it. I even have a home server hosting files for remote use. If you combine this router with a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard, your internet connection will fly. I constantly get 60Mbps out of my 16Mbps-rated service. Unfortunately, my first one is starting to give me intermittent issues, since I moved. However, it's not the device's fault since I didn't pack it well but rather shoved it in a box with all my networking toys. I just ordered a replacement, and it is another DIR655.

1 out of 5 eggsSkip it

Pros: Works well when it works

Cons: Cheap, gets hot, wireless fails very early in the router's life.

Other Thoughts: I have owned 3 of these routers now, I bought the first one over a year ago and it worked well until I made the mistake of updating the firmware and got all the new junk Dlink is putting on the system. Once I figured out how to roll back the Firmware things seemed ok so I bought 2 more to complete my home network, the 2 I bought failed within 60 days of purchase and the 3rd died less than a month later. all 3 had the wifi system fail so it would not transmit. Dlink support was useless and they would not warranty return, repair or replace them. I went out and bought the buffalo WHR-G300N to replace them... The buffalo were cheaper and 2 did the job of the 3 the dlink needed... I would skip this router if at all possible, they die too quickly and you will probably be stuck with an expensive plastic paperweight...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Easy installation, wired ports deliver 1 Gbps level service on my ancient Cat 5 cables. 280 Mbps, 4 bars on .11n, even through several walls and another floor. 54 Mbps/4 on .11g.

Cons: Printed "Quick" instructions might be a little vague for inexperienced owners.

Other Thoughts: Although I've installed or troubleshot a lot of wi-fi routers for others, this is my own first since I wired my house years ago.

2 out of 5 eggsOverrated

Pros: Price

Cons: Very slow speeds. I cant even play a 720p Youtube Video without it lagging. My Internet speed is averaging 15k kbps on old router and for some reason this router is holding it back. Using the Wifi is also slow. I upgraded the firmware still no improvements. I listened to all the reviews and opted for this one. Wish i would of went all out and got the NetGear WNDR3700 instead.

1 out of 5 eggsColossal Waste of Money

Pros: Super Easy Network setup.

Cons: USB does not work as advertised. Customer support is terrible. Firewall and logging is lousy!

Other Thoughts: While setup was easy and network connectivity is good. The USB port is useless, even with attempts with multiple versions of their client none of my USB devices work for more than a few minutes. The Customer support seems to have a canned response to all questions, "We don't understand your question." And the firewall and security logs only reflect what the firewall is blocking - this is great for creating small log files and a false sense of security...but you'll never know what is getting through.

1 out of 5 eggsWhy did I buy this?

Pros: When it works right it is fast.

Cons: Everything! this router is horrid. It cuts out continuously, range is mediocre at best, and the securespot feature is the worst idea for an electronic device ever. I spend more time resetting the router and waiting................and waiting..............and waiting........... for the paperweight to work again than I do using it. Every time the router resets, I have to access the settings and check securespot and then uncheck it (if you don't do this your router will block nearly every website you try to go to) to get the internet working again. If you plan on using this device to access the internet (what else would you use it for ) stay far away from this one. The only reason it gets one egg, is because newegg wont allow me to give it none.

Other Thoughts: The securespot feature is terrible anyways, but even worse is that a support rep told me that the process of turning on the securespot feature, saving the settings turning off securespot and saving settings again to turn securespot off, is not only common, but also supposed to be that way. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a device that changes its own settings several times a day, just so you can change them back to what you want, is not "supposed" to be that way. I may be mistaken, but I don't think that they advertised this router as "The router that you can use sometimes, and argue with it about settings the rest" I can't stress this enough, DON'T BUY THIS ROUTER! You can thank me later.

3 out of 5 eggsWeak Dista

Pros: Was pretty much plug and play except for what I put in cons

Cons: Wouldn't work with my DroidX until I updated the firmware and made a couple of changes in the software.

Other Thoughts: Distance isn't very good. I get better distance out of my old access point that is about 4 or more years old. I have it mounted high on my main level of home but it is hit or miss, mostly miss on the lower level and it is about 20 feet to steps going down through double wide open doors and another 20 feet to my lazy boy and no wifi on the phone. So I hooked back up my old Linksys access point through one of those wireless devices that send the signal through the 110v house wiring and it has a better reach than the D-link and it don't even do N.

2 out of 5 eggsWireless speeds less than expected

Pros: Easy setup with clear instructions. Attractive casing.

Cons: Speed of wireless tranfer using 802.11N was less than expected. When combined with D-Link DWA-552 PC adapter, download speed as measured by Speakeasy.net was only 14.82 MBPS and upload at 3.66 MBPS. This compares with wired connection of 30.37/3.66 MBPS.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking great for 2+ years

Pros: Running a mix of g and n wireless PCs, an Xbox 360, two wired PCs, a WHS, a Linksys WRT54GL as a bridge, and an iPhone without any hiccups whatsoever. Speeds are consistently good and Xbox can be playing Call of Duty while torrents are downloading with no issues. Infinitely customizable.

Cons: Apparently, you either get a good one of these or a bad one right of the box. I was lucky.

Other Thoughts: Paid considerably more for this when I bought it way back, but may buy another just to have for a replacement since nothing lasts forever.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Configured correctly, this router is reliable , fast and has good coverage. Highly recomended.

Cons: Need a decent working knowledge of networking to achieve the full potential of the router. Most of the problems I see in other reviews are configuration errors, NOT the routers fault. Don't bad mouth a good product if you don't know what you're doing.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Routers!

Pros: This router is one of the best router I have ever owned. After using it for awhile my friend asked me which router I was using and told him about this. He bought it and very pleased with it as well.

Cons: The only issue I ever had with this router was the firmware from D-Link, although all are fixed now. There has been a lot of d/c but all is well now :)

Other Thoughts: Def a must buy!

Pros: Easy set-up...well...I had to put something down just to be nice.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA... Sort of...

Pros: Looks nice. Connected to internet. I love D-Link's Web interface.

Cons: I couldn't get any port forwarding to work. The router seemed to automatically block me. Router log was a little confusing but it was definitely blocking me from talking to other computers on my network. Couldn't connect to my http/ftp server. Couldn't remote desktop. Only thing I could do was file share which oddly worked.

Also VERY disappointed in newegg that I have to pay to ship this back. I am in no way at fault for being shipped a faulty product. You should have a policy to take it up with your venders. I should not be held responsible to pay more money out for something that didn't work as advertised to begin with. I will rethink my newegg purchases in the future. Ama z0n seems more and more a better choice with each purchase from newegg. And they don't charge tax...

Other Thoughts: Looks to be a good router. D-Link's tech support is out sourced. The so called "techs" don't know ANYTHING about the product for which they are giving "technical support". They only read off of charts that give a direction to go depending on your answer. When I told them I could not connect to any other computer on my network besides file sharing they told me they could no longer help me that I must contact my computer's manufacturer. Worthless help. If it breaks, just RMA, don't bother calling them.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Newegg shipping is fast.

Cons: Multiple calls to Frontier ISP and dlink could not resolve connection issues

Other Thoughts: Purchased to replace my DGL 4300 that has a failing WiFi radio. I attempted to connect the DIR 655 to my modem and copied the MAC address associated with the DGL 4300. A step that customer service had not even thought of. Now if I could just get Frontier to quit hanging up on my calls maybe I can get their WiFi modem and router sent to me.

1 out of 5 eggsWould only recommend this router to someone I don't like.

Pros: It looks pretty.

Cons: 1) Non-intuitive and outright confusing web interface. 2) Horrible firmware. 3) Was fine for the first few days, then the signal started dropping frequently (which became extremely problematic when making VoIP international phone calls for business). Eventually, I started having to manually reset everything through the modem to get connection again. 4) SLOW connection - especially at night. It took 5 hours to install 2 games on Steam (whereas it only took 2 hours for the same games connected through my old router). Gaming router? HA! Not even suitable for Flash-based Tetris! 5) Signal does not reach the upstairs area of my house...at all. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Other Thoughts: I had to retry uploading a one-page Word document six times last night because the connection was so slow, it would time out. Even as I tried to print out the RMA form the other night, I had to retry it about 5 or 6 times with the Internet connection going out 4 times. Yes, it took me two hours just to print out an RMA form. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Pros: The included Software Wizard analyzed the modem and programmed the router to comply with the modem. It also led you through the steps to set up WiFi security. Couldn't have been easier.

Cons: No problems so far.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked great for almost three years

Pros: Worked great for 2.5 years. Having problems now, but I'd buy again.

Cons: after 2.5 years it decided to stop serving me internet a few times an hour. Complete reset would fix it, but not for long. Analysis of the signal strength over time (using inSSIDer) showed strange drops to 0 every 20 minutes. Maybe this is normal, maybe not. I updated the firmware to the latest version, and it seemed all was well again!! The shareport function they added is also great! But now my iPhone 4 decides to boot itself off and forget the passkey. Laptops aren't doing this, but I am suspicious there may be corruption lurking in the router. Cause it couldn't possibly be Apple's fault! :P

Other Thoughts: Even as I type this I am very tempted to buy another one! Oh well I will wait and see if my iPhone starts behaving.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst routing product ever

Pros: Looks pretty

Cons: I had no success getting good performance out of this product. Wireless device to wireless device connectivity was a joke. Couldn't transfer 50MB files across the wire. Wired performance was poor especially for the price. Product did not work like historic models. Would not recommend this or related products from dlink. I also tried using this with the dlink WAP/Bridge product. Tech support was poor. Techs were not very knowledgeable.

Other Thoughts: Find something else.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: Love the web interface. Easy to setup. I believe the manufacturers intentions were to make a very high quality router judging from the interface to the casing and overall package. Newegg has blazing fast shipping.

Cons: Has to reboot every time you make a change to the settings. Annoying. Otherwise nothing that I have found so far.

Other Thoughts: If you are using DSL, I highly advise you bridge your modem and use the router in pppoe mode. It definitely speeds up the connection. I am using a Westell DSL modem btw. I use with Xbox live and have no trouble with lag with it setup in pppoe mode. Thanks Newegg!

2 out of 5 eggsReturned to store

Pros: Web interface seemed pretty well designed - lots of options. Nicer than some of the Linksys web GUIs I've used.

Cons: Stability issues. I was able to crash this unit consistently even after throttling my bit torrent traffic to moderate levels (100 KB up, 400 KB down, 400 active connections).

For some reason my HTPC with built-in wireless n adaptor would connect at SLOWER speeds than all of my wireless g devices in mixed G/N mode. However, I didn't hold onto this router long enough to determine whether this was the router's fault or the HTPC's fault.

Blue LEDS are too bright and need to be hidden from view.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this router from newegg, but from a well-known retail chain.

Stability is by far the most important attribute that I look for in a router. This router crashed on me several times in the week or so that I had it (running the latest firmware and disabling advanced options), so I returned it.

I ended up buying the tried and true Linksys WRT54GL from newegg, and couldn't be happier.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome

Pros: Easy network set up, noticeable increases in speed and wireless range, looks slick, shareport is useful

Cons: none, so far so good

Other Thoughts: what can I say, it gets the job done and then some, mainly got it to increase wireless range throughout my house and it did, added two plus bars to all areas and my normal web browsing is smoother than ever.

2 out of 5 eggsDlink support is awful.!!

Pros: Decent Performance
Good signal quality
Enjoyed the guest network option
Gigabit ports

Cons: Died after 9 months of standard use.
Dlink support is completely sub par.
Limited one year warranty.

Other Thoughts: The router had spotty performance after the first month. I made the mistake of trying out their Bsecure service, which locks itself into your router and then blocks computers after you cancel it. It wasn't fixed for months until they came out with fixed firmware. Afterwords it worked great with FW 1.34 for about 2 months, then it suddenly just gave up. Tech support hung up on me twice in the middle of troubleshooting. I hate dealing with foreign tech support!! Now I have to pay to ship the router back to them while I wait for the replacement. LAME!!

3 out of 5 eggsAwful phone support

Pros: Giving this 4 stars because of it's performance so far. The signal is not as strong as other reviews indicate - my old Linksys WRT gave me more bars, but the gigabit wired connection is great.

Cons: Had to call D-link support for assistance with a MAC address issue. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes someone came on and asked me to repeat every other word I said (I enunciate well, and speak clearly). This "tech" unfortunately did not know what Unix was, nor was he aware of what a MAC address is. I was transferred to level 2 support, where the call was promptly dropped after being placed on hold another 5 minutes.

Other Thoughts: Cheap support isn't always better, D-Link. Consider hiring some of the same people that buy and use your products to support and service them. Goodness knows we need the jobs.

Pros: Good price and great features.

Cons: Not DD-WRT Compatable

Other Thoughts: Good router but my old Linksys 54G had better coverage with the stock antennas.

I've ordered some 9db antennas for the router and i'm hoping to improve the coverage somewhat.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad router

Pros: Easy setup. My network was all set within 30 minutes, WEP/wireless.

Cons: Needs to be rebooted every few days. This may be due to my cable/broadband modem. My cable company (Time Warner/RR), likes to charge a premium and hand out (at times), lousy service, so I have to reboot their modem and in turn reboot the router. The router reboot may or may not be the modem's fault, so...

Other Thoughts: I bought this router in hopes that I would have a farther reach on my wireless network so I could get reception on my iPhone from the coffee shop across the street. I live in an historic section of town and my building has 2' thick brick walls and it just won't penetrate those walls. I've since ordered a "cantenna" which is supposed to extend the signal for a mile or more (directionally), so we shall see.

All in all though (sorry got off the subject there! lol), this is a pretty good router.

5 out of 5 eggsStill one of the best on the market

Pros: Quick and easy installation - even without the hand-holding software. Many, many options for the advanced user. Gigabit ports give excellent transfer between hard-wired systems. WiFi range is really something - I still could get weak signal from about 500 feet at my parents house with my laptop!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Sure there are cheaper routers out there, some even have more features - promising the moon and stars. But if you have a good understanding of the configuration of routers/firewalls, the DIR-655 is still one of the most capable out there.

1 out of 5 eggsWished it had worked

Pros: I think the slick design - easy setup and good bright displays were nice design features. When it worked it was very fast achieving every inch of whatever speed I was expecting.

Cons: However, unfortunately, this router's performance would start to degrade steadily such that after a couple of hours, it would need to be rebooted.

Secondly, there are "features" which should be left out of the next revision of their firmware, securespot, automatic ... anything and NTP, these are nice features I suppose but are totally non-essential and should be removed as they do not work and seem to adversely affect reliability.

Securespot was especially troubling in that it would re-enable itself after a short period of time.

Logging was adequate, but considering the amount of trouble I had in such a short time of ownership, it was not really acceptable.

Clearly they're trying to accomplish alot, unfortunately I think they over-reached their engineering capacity.

Other Thoughts: - Tech support was belligerent and on more than one occasion I got the sense they were "playing" stupid just to get me off the phone or to pay for support.
There is a language and tech barrier and I was encouraged rather strongly that it was at fault rather entirely, which at the end of the day is true. Having purchased two of these routers, I would ultimately agree it was my fault....for purchasing this product. I must sadly recommend against it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Router

Pros: Great Web admin interface. Very easy to configure and allowed me to add devices, set up dedicated IP addresses, setup Mac Address filtering, make my network SSID invisible in 10 mins. I have 1 laptop with 802.11n card and another 802.11g card. The WAN speeds on both these computers are excellent on the laptop with 802.11n and much better than before on the one with 802.11g card. I used to use a Belkin 802.11g router before.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsMost Excellent

Pros: Easy Setup, high power, no drops, resets, or hangs. This is a very reliable unit. USB port a great big +. I was able to rename, clone my mac, change the DHCP pool range and scope... in about 10 minutes had everything up and running to my preferred configuration. I haven't given it a second thought since. The family is impressed as well, the old Buffalo (gave it life in a lightning strike) was having a hard time sustaining transfer rates from multiple wireless users. The D-link seems to handle our 4 high-band-with gamers and media nuts with ease. Boo-Ya!

Cons: Shareport seems unnecessary. I don't like extra software that has to be used to things I consider mundane. D-Link should have included that interface in their firmware. Using Shareport, if you leave a hard drive connected for a long time it gets slow to respond to initial access from your computer. But... it does work and well enough for the family to back-up all of their laptops, but just barely.

Other Thoughts: I don't fiddle with every last setting like some people do, but this D-Link is rich in features and I use maybe 1/3rd of them. I love it. Its a great deal.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst router I ever owned

Pros: Fast, works great... When it works.
When it came out it was a good deal for the level of technology it had.

Cons: I don't even know where to start.
Some firmware uptime was measured in minutes.
D-Link forums were filled with people having issues and they were not very forthcoming with fixes. Signal strength fluctuated from 2mb to 300mb, while idle from 30 feet away (a stronger power supply helps somewhat). Shareport is a JOKE!

I have owned half a dozen routers, and I work with them on a regular basis, in fact a major part of my job is networking, I have never dealt with such a pile of garbage.

Other Thoughts: Mine is the A4 model and is honestly, the worst router I ever used. When it worked it was good, the problem is I shouldn't have to reset the router every week (sometimes daily). It took them well over a year to straighten things out. By that time I had purchased a high end Linksys and couldn't be happier. Most of the time I owned this, I went back to an older Netgear for stability when I wasn't trying another firmware patch. This review doesn't even scratch the surface of the problems I had with this item, it just sits on a shelf because I don't want to burden anyone with it.

I refuse to buy another D-Link after this. Spend a bit more and get a Netgear or Linksys, you will be much happier.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Gigabit wan/lan, good looking

Cons: The USB port is NOT for sharing ANYTHING (no drive, no printer) - it's for some stupid Windows-only connectivity. Worse yet, if you are operating in a mixed G and N network, you will NOT be able to use N at all, or else you will be forced to run with *no security* unless *every system* supports something better than WEP.
If you want printer sharing, get the ASUS. If you want G+N compatibility, get the Encore unit - both of which are cheaper.

Pros: Works good. Set up is easy. Never had a problem with it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this router 2 - 3 years ago. I just bought one for my parents because they had a netgear one that went bad. Mine hasn't died yet and seems to be working fine. This is the best router I have owned. Before this one, I went through a lot of them looking for a good one.

5 out of 5 eggsD-link does it again

Pros: Works exactly as it should right out of the box! I shopped routers for a long time and kept coming back to the 855 and 9400 because they had the option to give traffic priority, and have Gig LAN & WAN ports. I'm primarily concerned with gaming and streaming traffic. the 655 was under $100 (YOU ROCK NEWEGG!!)and supports all but one feature of the other two!! It only took a few min to get it connected, configured, secured, and streaming netflix in HD.

Cons: Does not support 5GHZ band only, just does Auto 2Ghz / 5Ghz - means some BRAND NEW Wireless N cards will only connect a 150Mb instead of 300Mb. But I was able to get around this by using D-Link adaptors.. WOOT WOOT.

Other Thoughts: At this time, you are not going to get a router that supports 5Ghz only for under $100, so the next best option was the 655 that supports Auto 2Ghz / 5Ghz. If you can't (or Won't) pay $200 for a router then the 655 is the best router on the market right now (IMO). If your on the fence. BUY IT!!! D-link is years ahead of Linksys (big bro Cisco is awesome for enterprise but they have yet to figure out the Home networking market), and Netgear is kinda ok, as long as your not gaming or not concerned about your speed being 100%.

2 out of 5 eggsWhen it works...

Pros: Works GREAT, when it works. almost as fast as their pro gaming router. Tech support ?

Cons: If u buy one try CAPTCHA and to Restore config file ASAP.
Captcha never worked from day one. Spent 40+ hours configuring IP, ports, MAC addresses to fully customize... Some quirks in config. Cannot prioritize a lan port. must assign priority to IP.??? Backed up configuration 3 weeks ago (4 copies). Then problems and tried to upload each of the four config files... NO JOY. Still routes, but... does not perform as advertised if it cannot restore a saved config file.
@@@I had to pay return shipping for THEIR defective product RMA@@@

Other Thoughts: Tech support tried to do a good job... But usual suspects lined up on the wall... Customer error is first second and third cause of problems in the universal tech support playbook. A good design, quality components and assembly are just part of the solution. Usability, reliability and functionality should be high priority

But I tried everything.... flash newest firmware, reset(6x) uninstall browser, java, IE, Firefox. nothing worked. Then tech support said"Can you manually reconfigure the router?" That is when I lost it... Respect for Dlink, that is. I paid for a router that has the ability to restore the settings.

1 out of 5 eggsRange less than Linksys

Pros: Speed is fine if within wireless range.

Cons: Place unit in exact same location as my old Linksys WRT54GS. The range was at least 10 shorter with the DIR-655! WHAT? The box says 6X range....baloney! Called Tech support and they said to use a different channel and if that doesn't work then update firmware.

Other Thoughts: Going back in the box and back to NewEgg if they'll take the thing!

5 out of 5 eggsFast with FW DIR655A4_FW134NAb03

Pros: DIR655A4_FW134NAb03 is specially designed for version A4 shipped by Newegg lately. It makes the DIR-655 performance enhanced.

Cons: Lag with the older firmware. Router reboots often with new adjustments.

Pros: I've had this router for over two-and-a-half years and can count on one hand the number of times it's been rebooted. I daresay that this is the only good router I've ever used. I paid $130 back then, and would happily do so again. Really, it's saving money - you're going to have to buy multiple Linksys or other bargain routers when they give up the ghost within the first year of use.

Cons: Doesn't dispense ice-cold draught beer.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this router to all my friends. Completely worth it.

1 out of 5 eggsWireless Stopped Working

Pros: Since I switch to FiOS, I now have to use their router. What I did was switch some settings around to make it so the D-Link acted as a wireless bridge and a switch. This works great since I like to stream HD content from my PC to my PS3 and I need the 1000mbps connection in order to do this. I have no stuttering and have seen upwards of 60MB/s of streaming!

Cons: The wireless stopped working after about 9 months with the A4 unit. Nothing can be done to fix this, I have tried everything. This router deserves 5 eggs, but it only gets 1, since a wireless router is kind of useless if it dies in less than a year.

5 out of 5 eggsFast & Furious N

Pros: Being on the dsl boardband for years, and Own a Dlink dir-635 for years. Last year bought a Trendnet TEW-633GR N router. After 2 years waiting for this dir-655 price drop, finally bought one for a new low price compatible with my Trendnet. It is a real draft N router good for HD video streaming, PS3 gaming, 4 laptops, and one I-touch connecting at the same time. Smooth, fast, and furious, NO Lagging.

Cons: It has been on the market over two years, afraid Dlink will discontinue this model and lost support.

Other Thoughts: A Draft 2 N gamer/video streaming router for $77.99 can beat any draft N routers on the market. There is no other thoughts.

Pros: Works great right out of the box, easy setup utility, QoS is activated right out of the box, Upnp actually works and is fully customizable (unlike other routers), great wireless range, able to stream media content to more than one user at a time with no lag, able to play multiple MMORPGS on more than one client at the same time!

Cons: The lights are a little brighter than they need to be, it doesn't look any fancier than any of the other dlinks.

Other Thoughts: Wish dlink would upgrade the look of their newer routers.

4 out of 5 eggsGood deal; working fine...

Pros: Good price (but was better a few weeks later when I picked up another one for my parents on a one-day sale!), Gigabit Ethernet, decent wireless coverage (I like the three antennas - must be three times as good, right? ;)

Cons: Browser based controls are a bit tedious to work through to get everything set up correctly. But I was only going through the "manual" set-up -- not the "wizard" so I can't speak to that...

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace an old AT&T wireless router that died after a power outage. With the included GigabitE ports, I was also able to relocate a GigE switch. So far (about 1.5 months) it's been a good purchase for us.

1 out of 5 eggsThere's plenty of better routers out there.

Pros: 1. Plenty of configuration options.
2. I liked the web interface once I got used to it.
3. Gigabit ports.

Cons: 1. Lots of dropped wireless signals.
2. Shareport simply doesn't work. Believe all the negative things on the Internet. I called Dlink tech support and they offered no solutions, simply stated "they'd make a note of it." Literally!
3. I tried everything to fix this, but the router would throttle my Comcast connection badly. 12+ mbps consistently went down to 3 mbps. Went back to my old Netgear WGR 614, everything was fine.

Other Thoughts: This is my first experience with a Dlink router, and I have to say I'm not impressed. This must be the reason why I don't see Dlink in retail stores like I used to. I'll be reluctant to try another product from them, especially after the bad tech support experience.

Other Thoughts: I used this to replace an old dir-615 router because i needed gbit lan ports for a new NAS i built. The dir-615 has served me well for a bout 2 years

After reading a number of reviews i first went with a belkin N+ router based on hype and the cnet review. well... the belkin router constantly dropped then modem connection from my Comcast router and also dropped wireless lan connections with my iphone and laptop.

After 2 days of frustration i picked up the dir-655 and it is every bit as good as the 615 with a stronger signal and the gbit lan that i needed for my new file/media server.

Great router.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfect - Year after year

Pros: I bought this router from Newegg when it first came out many, many years ago. Newegg's online order records don't go back far enough to find my purchase.

I am an upgrade freak and always try to get the latest and greatest everything, but in this case there is no need. This router is probably the best purchase of computer gear I've ever made.

Never the slightest problem with a complex gigabit LAN. I also get max bars for wireless N throughout my fortress-like brick, steel, and thick plaster walled house.

Never a dropped connection with either Verizon or now Comcast.

Rock solid.

I have been through many firmware upgrades with no hardware problems.

I had to call tech support after one firmware upgrade because I'd forgotten what to do about resetting the main router IP address using the web interface and they were excellent. Walked me through the process and didn't assume I was an idiot. (My previous router was a Linksys b/g and it used a different main address that I k

Cons: The signal is so strong that sometime I vaguely worry about someone in the neighborhood figuring out my wireless password, but that's unlikely and not a fault of the router. From my basement the signal reaches several neighbors' houses at high strength. I even let one of them use it for a short while several years ago.

Other Thoughts: I feel I have to say something regarding the negative reviews. I'm no network tech, but I always read the manual, try different settings, and call tech support before giving up on a product. The internet is an excellent source for configuring wireless N and these product reviews are useful to discover specific known problems.

If I could find a better product I'd buy it, but nothing I've seen over the years is better than this router. That is still true today.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks fine in the long run if you only need wired.

Pros: When it worked, it was excellent. Blazing fast speeds, just good.

Cons: Well.. where to start? It worked fine since last January. Over the last few weeks, the performance has started to degrade. First the wireless connection were flaky, then the wireless speeds would drop. Now, wireless does not even work, and the only way to use internet in my house now is to have a wired connection to it, which is not practical for me (only desktops, no laptops).

Other Thoughts: I've tried everything possible, from disconnecting anything that could be causing wireless interference, to connecting PC's straight to the modem, skipping the router all together. Please, save yourself the trouble and get a more reputable brand such as Linksys. I will be contacting customer support tomorrow to talk to them about this.

2 out of 5 eggsXtreme hype...

Pros: Attractive design and easy set-up

Cons: Doesn't live up to D-Link's claim of "up to 14x speed (relative to D-Link G router)"

Other Thoughts: The big yellow advertisement on the DIR-655 box states that the n-router’s speed is “up to 14x” faster relative to a D-Link G router. Well, this new DIR-655 router I just installed is replacing my 7-year old D-Link G router which has been very reliable and relatively fast, usually 4 – 5 Mbps. My new DIR-655 router achieves the same download speed, which is in the range of 4 – 5 Mbps. I have a brand-new Toshiba laptop with a built-in n-wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n LAN, so there should be no compatibility issues. I would have been happy with 6 Mbps, but no such luck.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat wired, flaky wireless

Pros: I've had this router for almost two years and the wired part keeps going strong. It works well with multiple VoIP applications. Using a cable modem, this router reconnects quickly whenever TWC drops the connection. It is a gigabit router and the throughput is excellent. Copying videos from one computer to another is faster than copying them to an external USB drive. It maintains the connection and speed even without power cycling it every few days/weeks.

Cons: The wireless part, although otherwise excellent in speed and signal strength, is this router's weak part. Heavy wireless traffic brings this router to its knees and causes it to briefly (a few seconds) drop all wireless and wired connections. Volume is not as big of a problem as loading too many things at once. (think video streaming sites that load a dozen video previews at once) It is not a big deal unless another person is on a VoIP phone making a phone call. I remember to stay away from Youtube and CNN on WLAN while someone else is on the phone. (wired traffic has no effect)

Other Thoughts: Wireless routers are the worst products out there. I have gone through at least a dozen of them and they never work just right. This one is one of the better ones. It would make a great wired router or a wireless access point. Doing both at once exceeds its abilities if you throw a lot of traffic at it.

1 out of 5 eggsSo bad, its offensive

Pros: Relatively inexpensive for the features you apparently get.

Cons: Worse range than my WRT54G, needs to reboot any time you make any change to settings, constantly cannot connect even when in range while using the recommended DWA-556 Adapter. Absolute worst wireless router I've ever had. I completely regret this purchase.

Other Thoughts: I deserve it for buying a D-Link. I will never make this mistake again as long as I live. Every product I've ever bought from them was a disaster.

5 out of 5 eggsJUST GREAT!

Pros: Works great! Don't need to use that setup CD they give ya, if you know how to configure a router. My Vonage VIOP sounds much better thanks to it's auto-QoS. There's a built in help if you ever need it; no need for manual. Many options ranging from simple to advanced, but again, there's the built in help!

Cons: No built in Wake-on-LAN (I VPN to my server and it's nice to use the router to WOL my PC's instead of having to RDP to my server and WOL my other PCs). My Linksys had this feature with the Tomato custom firmware.

P.S. Can't use custom firmware on this like Tomato, DD-WRT, etc.

Other Thoughts: D-Link... You reading this! Add WOL!

Don't always blame the router.
Be sure to use the right cables for your network to get 1000Mbs, otherwise you more than likely won't get 1000MBs. CAT5e or higher should be used. SOME of my CAT5 cables work, but not all. USE GOOD Surge Protectors! Also, wireless signal does also depend on your PC's wireless capabilities. The wireless signal works great on my newer laptop without disconnects, even going from upstairs to downstairs on the other side of the house. My older laptop drops signal frequently with the internal wireless, but works fine with the external wireless card. My MCE in my upstairs bedroom gets low speeds but it's using an older wireless card, under a 17in foam matress and next to a metal hot-water baseboard. Still the actual connection never drops. Placement and the PC wireless capability is everything when it comes to wireless!

Pros: NONE

Cons: Doesn't work they way it should. It has a lot of issues that was suppose to been fixed with a firmware update. This didn't fix them. You have to turn off DST and Secure Spot just to get it to somewhat work. It constantly disconnects you from your modem and it is random. I very highly recommend anyone not to buy this.

Other Thoughts: I replaced this with a Linksys and couldn't be happier, it works the way I was hoping this D-Link would work..

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Great router! Have my Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo WII, 2 Laptops, and my Iphone on WiFi using this router, and they all work great. I can game lag free. Also, streaming movies to my PS3 works greats using Tversity.

Cons: No cons, works greats.

Other Thoughts: This is my 2nd Dlink router, my 1st was Dlink Gamerlounge Wireless which finally died after 3 years of use. Happy with this product. Easy to setup using Internet Explorer and no software to install. Also, I did not have to make any change to my network because I use the same settings including username and password from my old router, which really saved me bunch of time.

1 out of 5 eggsAVOID!!

Pros: Looks nice... more stylish than I expected. Really in-depth user interface, which could be a bad thing if you don't want/need all of those options.

Cons: Only worked for about five minutes. Very disappointed with this product! Bought it to replace my 6 year old Netgear wireless g router, which I have now gone back to. Went against all better judgment and used the "install" CD, which really does nothing more than walk you through the process-- takes about 10 minutes to do this when you could've just plugged it in and been up and running in no time. Their instructions also assume that you didn't have a router to begin with, which just makes it confusing. Default security levels are too strict-- let me decide what level I want instead of choosing for me!

Other Thoughts: I completed the setup program, which tested the router to make sure everything was working. No problems with the test, but it wasn't sending packets to any of my computers (both wired and wireless) so I did a factory reset and started over. The second time it actually worked-- I could connect my wired devices just fine, but wireless wasn't working properly. Turns out that "WiFi Protected mode" is enabled by default, which is absolutely ridiculous because they make no mention of this anywhere else. Thanks for not letting me know I had to connect each wireless device individually with yet another password! I turned off WiFi protected, which required a reboot of the router. Once it turned back on it wasn't working at all! Won't send packets to any of my devices, and I have reset it numerous times with no luck. I can't even log into the interface anymore. All indicator lights are on, and devices connect just fine, but it refuses to send packets! Junk!!!

3 out of 5 eggsIt’s OK

Pros: Router works like a router. Wireless N does a good job compared to slightly older models. I personally like the white look with the brilliant blue lights.

Cons: Can’t get the securespot to register with bsecure. I understand this is a third party, but D-Link shouldn’t partner with someone who isn’t providing the services promised. Called D-Link customer support twice. Both times was given a number to call which was a disconnected Time Warner cable number. Finally tracked down by e-mail support a valid number to call. Both D-Link and Bsecure acknowledged this as a current defect on Bsecure’s side, so if you purchase it and want the securespot content filter and firewall from bsecure, don’t expect it to work for a while. This is the biggest reason for the 3 egg rating. Might have been worse had I not gotten it on special.

Other Thoughts: Works great with the Rosewill RNX-N150UBE I bought here at NewEgg, as well as built in N on an Acer and Gateway. Has a little trouble with built in N on Mac book as it hangs and lags at times.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty Product

Pros: works great for the 50% or less time that it stays connected to internet.

Cons: Dir-655 has major hardware/firmware problems. DO NOT BUY THIS HUNK OF JUNK!!! You will be sorry if you do. D-Link has a long history of products that have firmware problems. Avoid the major headache that purchasing this is gonna cause you.

4 out of 5 eggsRequires tweeking

Pros: Very stable (after tweeking). Great range, when paired with Dlink DWA-556 PCIe adapter. Fast web UI for settings. The gig networking is a dream for HD media streaming.

Cons: The original firmware on the router was 1.32NA. After upgrading to 1.34NA, I noticed that my wireless would periodically drop single for a split second. It was recommended to me, by my friend, to try disabling the "Auto channel" feature in the wireless settings and manually set it to any number. I also set the mode to G and N only, and enabled WPA-personal. The router has had no issues for the past 48+ hours.

Other Thoughts: The number one feature I'm looking for in a router is stability. After changing a few of the default wireless settings I believe I have achieved just that. I would not recommend this to someone who has never manually configured a router before. For everyone else, it's a good buy.

1 out of 5 eggsBig Dissapointment

Pros: Sleek appearance, blue indicators are nice.
Wireless performance is good.

Cons: I bought this router because of it's stated ability to serve a USB printer. This router is a bit more expensive than some, but that feature is worth it for me. Well the feature does not work with Windows 7. DLINK has no idea how to fix the issue, and said I should buy one of their print servers! When I told Mark the support engineer that I already paid for that function he said that was all they could suggest.
This is a defective product and Dlink has an integrety defficiency. I went through two levels of support and they escalated the issue to their developers.

Other Thoughts: I would certainly think twice before buying another Dlink product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Fairly Easy Wireless Setup (even in manual mode), Strong Signal, Good Range (200'+ w/o appreciable loss), Fast, Works Well w/NetGear WN-11 USB Adapter, Responsive Customer Service.

Cons: Needed to call customer support to find out that an update to the firmware and Shareport software was required to get my USB printer to work on the router's USB port. I'm still having trouble configuring the printer to work within AOL 9.1. There must be a trick to it. Finally, I only show 130Mps on the G but that's plenty fast enough for me.

Other Thoughts: Still, it's a great wireless router and works well in a mixed environment (N and G, XP pro and home notebooks). There are a whole bunch of features that I know little about. The documentation is pretty good, especially on the router http, where you need it. I'll eventually get around to figuring out all the extras.

2 out of 5 eggsD-Link DIR-655

Pros: QOS, Nice Web Interface with flexibility

Cons: Drops WAN connection around 1 day which in turn causes my VOIP to drop.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd for a Netgear WDNR3700 and problem has disappeared. Tried all recommended solutions to fix the WAN drop problem and it just kept cropping up. Being in the hardware and software development industry for 10 years, I'd expect a device that's been out on the market for this time frame to have addressed major defects like this (especially at this price point). I guess I am wrong.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: *Excellent, high speed.
*Smaller than my previous router.
*Good range, at least enough to cover a two-floor, 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom house.
*When you can get the wireless to work, it is fantastic.

Cons: I've noticed a lot of one-star reviews saying that the router repeatedly drops wireless [and some even say wired] connections. I was skeptical at first but decided to pick up the router anyways after comparing the price to what I was paying for. Item arrived, hooked it all up. The wired connection was much better than the one with my previous router [an aging Linksys whose type was up]. However, when I tried connecting to the wireless with my laptop, the connection dropped repeatedly. After searching for a problem, it hit me. The wireless is set to send out Mixed B/G/N as a default. Since my laptop was using G [haven't gotten all my N items yet], it's possible that the N being put out was causing the drops. Lo and behold, I set it to Mixed B/G and the connection is firm and incredibly fast.

Other Thoughts: Please note that if you know how to set up a router, there isn't really a need for the installation software. It will only bog your computer down. This would have received 5 eggs, but the dropped connections due to the Mixed signal caused it to lose an egg. They need to figure out how to get the router to manage mixing of all 3 signals without signal loss. However, an easy fix and a very good product.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted about a year.

Pros: + When it worked it was mostly awesome with one exception (see con).

Cons: - The wireless was garbage through walls (flimsy paper thin walls).
- Wireless only worked well in same room as computer - so I used my old Linksys as a Wireless AP
- This router died within a year. It is no longer reliable. Requires constant restarts and does not remember the time. Drops connection.
- I spent about a hundred dollars on this, it should have lasted longer.

Other Thoughts: I used my old Linksys WRT54G for 3 years as a router, then used it as an AP until now. Looks like I'll be temporarily using it as a router until I buy a new one which is not from DLINK. I'll be looking to Linksys, Buffalo and possibly ASUS for a new router.

3 out of 5 eggsSharePort doesn't work with OS X 10.6!

Pros: It's my first draft-N router, seems to blow away my old 802.11g. Not sure if it's that or the QoS but VoiP and Skype seem to work better as well. Overall a very solid router and very easy to setup... however...

Cons: One of the main reasons I got this router was the USB port (aka Shareport) where one can share an external storage device or printer. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). After considerable time experimenting and with google, I finally gave up and called tech support. Their tech support guy was absolutely clueless! ("can you open My Computer" - "... umm no I'm on a Mac", many more examples like that, to the point where he finally put me on hold after every one of my questions - wish he had just transferred me to the person he was asking who actually knew what they were talking about).
Bottomline after a 35min phone call... "Sir this does not work on 10.6, ony 10.3-10.5)"
me: your box makes no mention of that, it suggests that I can use any system to share drive and/or printers.
"if you read the shareport manual it says only 10.3-10.5"

argh

Other Thoughts: I guess at this point I may just wait it out for their developers to release a 10.6 version... either that or go for what I should've done all along ... get Airport Extreme, but I'm not sure it's worth a $100 premium to be honest, imho.

-1 for bad customer support
-1 for this 10.6 nuisance - thought it maybe a small part of the population, still something very important i think.

p.s. SharePort software sees and "connects" to the drive on the MBP, but it does not show up in Finder or in DiskUtility, which prevents me from transferring files to it, which in turn makes it useless in my opinion. If anyone can suggest a fix I'm more than happy to eat crow / retract/delete this review in return for a working shared drive!

3 out of 5 eggsdrops signals

Pros: No problems with wired connections.

Cons: Sometimes, I can watch a movie without interruption.
At other times, signal drops on wireless connections can happen 2 or 3 times during a movie. I believed that Netflix was the culprit but, after reading the reviews, I realized that is is the router.
I have used this router for 10 months.

Other Thoughts: If you must depend on a wireless connection for your livelihood, look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 eggsBest router I've owned

Pros: amazing feature list, 2 many to list but here the the ones that mattered to me:
- Gigabit LAN ports (still not as common as you'd think)
- QoS - Important since I have a VOIP phone which I have hooked up on the inside of my router
- WEP & WPA2 support
- Wireless N
- Amazing level of granular customization in the GUI

Cons: Does not support dd-wrt opensource firmware which would have been a nice option to have but can't justify stripping an egg for it.

Other Thoughts: Have this router in the basement of my house and 1 day a week I work out of my home. With my laptop docked on the second floor, I am able to maintain a solid wireless (b) connection and uninterrupted VPN tunnel to my work. Very stable. Can use it anywhere in my house.

I use this router as the centeral router / DHCP server for a rather extensive home network consisting of 4 other switches and 9 network devices.

Pros: I bought this to replace my aging Dlink DI-524. The network is noticeably faster. Even my wireless G clients seem to work better.

Cons: One issue I had was having the modem (a SpeedStream 4100b) do the PPPoE login. When the router and modem restarted, the router wouldn't get the DHCP address from the modem until the router rebooted again (it would give the message "Incorrectly configured"). I changed the PPPoE login from the modem to the router and it works fine, now.

Wireless strength could be better.

Pros: Replaced a DIR-625. Definitely a bigger pipe and greater range. Cheese to configure - but then I'm not doing much fancy...

Pros: On paper the features of this router look great.

Cons: The router constantly drops its signal. The drops have frustrated me to the point where I have decided to just suck up the significant cost of this thing and purchase a more reliable router.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect the higher cost of this router to translate to greater range. I have used routers that cost a fraction of the price that have a greater range.

D-Link never again.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT so far...

Pros: As I have not purchased a D-Link brand item before this, I am extremely satisfied with the setup, operation and sleek look of this router. The wireless speed is awesome - I am achieving download speeds of over 1.03MB/sec, which is 2 or 3 times the speed of my old router. I paired this with the D-Link Xtreme N desktop PCI card, and they work beautifully together. Highly recommended!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Follow the setup directions EXACTLY STEP BY STEP and you will have an awesome home network. This router even has a USB port for a shared printer or hard drive for your network.

2 out of 5 eggsWorse than it's popularity would suggest

Pros: Comparing with other competing models with similar specs,
i can't think of any PRO.

Cons: Too many to list. Here are some:
- Firmware sucks
- DLink's website/support site is awful
- Weak signal, limited range. Much worse than my older wireless G router.
- Hard to make it work with other networking hardware from other brands. I can't explain why but this has just been true for me. YMMV.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this if your house has more than one floor. Don't buy this if you plan to use it to access the internet from your networked Bluray player, game console, or other appliances.
It bright blue lights annoy you, you may also want to steer clear of this puppy.
I feel bad for not having anything good to say about it... NOT.

1 out of 5 eggs0/2 worked for me

Pros: It is white. Looks nice.

Cons: Biggest con is that it drops internet connection/lan connection AT LEAST 4 times daily. It worked fine for the first few days (thus, I'm guessing why there are positive reviews for this paperweight). I keep my router in the basement (where the POP is), so I got lots of exercise running up and down the stairs so many times. Anyway, after a month or so trying to keep it from crashing daily, I gave up. Figured it was a lemon. Newegg sent me a new one. It did the same thing - crashed at least 4 times per day. I just threw it out, and bought another N router (sorry I don't think I can say the name in the review, but think Bell Kin). Now here is the cool part - when this router worked, I would hit 600k on a 1mb line. After replacing it with the other router I hit 1.6mb.

Other Thoughts: I recommend to anyone who purchases this, save the box - you will probably be sending it back in a couple of weeks.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Router

Pros: Very, very easy set up! no problem with the bandwith sharing.
At one time connected through the LAN i had two of my kids playing COD4 against each other (2 seperate pc's), another one playing Halo3 on Xbox live and playing around with his Ipod on the internet through the WAN... No lag, no crying; very nice!

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Its on sale now for around 17 dollars less than what i paid but oh well its now a even better deal!
