The router's MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology also makes it a natural choice for multimedia fanatics, minimizing errors and optimizing data speed through the use of multiple antennas for both sending and receiving.

Need to give voice, gaming, or media streaming priority over other data? The DIR-655 has integrated Intelligent QoS (quality of service) technology to do just that. The router analyzes wired and wireless traffic and separates it into multiple data streams. These streams are prioritized by sensitivity to delay, so applications like VoIP (voice over Internet protocol), video and music streaming and online gaming are given priority over Web browsing.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Performer For Me

Pros: Easy setup; The installation CD steps though the setup process without installing anything on computer. Great range; Router is located is the basement and I am getting 270 to 300 Mbps on a wireless desktop located on the second floor. USB port; This wasn't a feature I was shopping for, but it's great being able to share my PagePro 1350W laser printer between three computers, each located on a different floor.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This is my third D-Link router and I've been pleased with all of them. The router is currently connected via Ethernet to a Vonage phone adapter, Windows 7 desktop, Windows XP Pro desktop, and a WD MyBook Live Duo NAS. The USB port plays hosts to a Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W laser printer, which is shared by three computers and I have a Wii and Windows XP Home desktop connected via wireless.

3 out of 5 eggsNot best nor worst

Pros: Pretty solid stability
signal is fair
Wired speeds excellent

Cons: Dlink proprietary usb app needed to use sharing... must install on all clients
When will people wake up. Proprietary limits your product.

Currently products with DUAL band and NO proprietary limitations are available for less.

Setup is cumbersome.

Other Thoughts: When I bought mine, over a year ago, it was one of the better N band routers...
After one RMA got one that has been solid... Kaptcha is still buggy....
Others have noted port forwarding issues still unaddressed by dlink.
Proper support distinguishes first tier manufacturers.
Dlink needs to step up their game.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD

Pros: You can make a secure wireless base.

Cons: It has a range of about 15ft radius from base. I had it in my office so the signal had to pass through 2 walls (dry wall NO wireing or plumbing) and had a signal strength of 60% at 15ft on PS3 and Wii. If you go beyond that signal is gone. Know it is suppost to have this great range and it is misleading. Had my broadband provider out trying to set it up also and they them selfs said "that D-Link isn't very user friendly to send it back because it is feces!"

Other Thoughts: If I can return this I sure I am going to. Not happy one bit.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Port Forwarding

Pros: Decent speeds, lost of configuration options,

Cons: Port forwarding doesn't work, which is just crazy! I couldn't believe it until I googled the issue, and there are losts of people who also can't forward ports.

Other Thoughts: This is a such a huge disappointment of a product. Just so lazy.

5 out of 5 eggsHeavy Duty

Pros: Easy setup after research
Still works
FAST
Great distance signal
WiFi is Awesome
great connection with steam online games ping is good

Cons: Bright blue lights
Blue lights haven't died out

Other Thoughts: I've had this on since day 1. Heavy usage. Works on 2 laptops, 2 PC's, 5 smart phones and its on all day and all night 24/7
i think its on 24/7 because i don't know how to turn it off, the only way to turn it off is unplug it so i never turn it off.

1 out of 5 eggsHave they not heard of AirPrint?

Pros: Wired connection has been good so far.

Cons: Wireless coverage is weak. Two rooms (walls) away, and bars on iPad are down to nearly nothing.

The MAJOR flaw is the lack of Bonjour support out of the box for iOS and AirPrint users. I have not found one solution that works to let me find an HP AirPrint enabled printer on my WiFi network.

People talk about enabling Multicast Streams, creating application rules to permit a TCP response on port 5354 to a UDP request on port 5353.

Why do I have to Google this? Because there isn't a single mention of it on their support site. They must know AirPrint exists for over 2yrs now. Make it work out of the box!

My LAST D-LINK purchase. They are out of touch.

Other Thoughts: DIR-655 RevB1 Firmware Version: 2.07NA
