5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I love the screen. I love that it has 3 antennae, dedicated externally. I love simultaneous dual band, although the only thing which picks up 5 GHZ at my house is my Xoom. 2.4 GHZ range is excellent. I love the customization aspects, I don't know a great deal about netowrking, but I've read around in different forums and learned a lot of cool stuff which has allowed me to optimize the settings of this router, settings which don't exist for other routers.

Cons: COST. This router has been around for awhile, it should be sub 200 by now. 5 GHZ range is not good at all... but from what I've read, that's how 5 GHZ works. Throughput isn't quite as fast as I was hoping, but still kicks the DIR 628's rear (the router the 855 replaced). I also wish there was a setting to keep the display on constantly, or better yet, during specific times, like 9AM to 9PM.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend purchasing this router if you have a lot of devices in your home. I have 6 computers personally, a tablet, a DX, a ps3, a wii, and my two siblings' laptops and my mom's netbook, oh, and my dad's desktop, running at my house. And this bad boy can handle them all.

1 out of 5 eggsThis router is no good

Pros: Looks nice..

Cons: The router was brand new and the 5 ghz band would drop intermentaly, called support and all they did was have me make a few changes. I try again and still same issue 5 ghz drops and the signal is not very strong.

Other Thoughts: I have a the dlink 4500 gaming router and you can switch between the 2.4 and 5 and it works on both the signal is strong and no dropping the signal. I don't understand why this is suppose to be a better and more expensive router and its does not work as well as the gaming router

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy Setup. Up and running a Dual Band with 19 devices connected and running in 30 minutes. 10 minutes later 2 HD videos streaming from 2 different Nas units without skipping a beat on the 5G network while downloading a Torrent and wife and I on internet. So far a great buy.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Although I con the price At least this router does what it says it does. 3 weeks ago I returned an ASUS RT-N56U. Could not get it to work Dual Band within losing the HD stream every few minutes. So the price I guess was just right considering it works perfect. If anything changes for the worse I will edit this review.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding!

Pros: Simultaneous dual-band support! Very useful OLED screen for when you don't feel like logging in just to check the status. Excellent range on the 5 GHz band, much better than I've gotten with other 5 GHz routers. Easily streams HD video over the internet to my TV without so much as a hiccup.

Cons: 1. Not so much a con as a "why bother?"... The web interface is laid out differently from other D-Link routers that I've used, making it harder for me to find what I'm looking for. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
2. The price really IS steep!

Other Thoughts: This is easily one of the best wireless routers I've ever used! It was easy to set up, something I've gotten used to with D-Link equipment vs. "the other guys". I'm extremely impressed with the range of the 5 GHz band. My router is up in my bedroom. In the past, I was unable to reach equipment in my living room, directly below, using the 5 GHz band. With this router my TV, home theater system, and satellite box all connected via the 5 GHz band the very first time, and they've stayed connected ever since!

5 out of 5 eggsVERY NICE boost

Pros: IT really gave me a Wider boost of range over my DIR-635, Speed is really great, TRUE GIGABIT speeds, works great with DNS-323 NAS and DSM-520 media lounge, streaming is great and fast on 2.4ghz N and G setting,

Dual wifi, shame i have nothing to use on the 5ghz SSID

Cons: 5ghz has always had a short range than the 2.4ghz wireless, i wonder if dlink improved it range with the A & N, Price is still Steep for a high end wifi router,

Other Thoughts: I have nothing to test out the range and speed for the 5ghz, plus there is not alot of device use the 5 ghz freq, i just disable the 5ghz wireless setup, Still a great performer with the range boost on the 2.4ghz

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It's automatic QoS has been great! Everything gets the bandwidth it needs
I have simultaneously:
-streamed Netflix HD via Wireless to My laptop
-skyped with video
-Played World of warcraft
-Streamed music to my Iphone
-Had wife on phone with vonage line
-Torrented a tv show.
-
All worked great simultaneously.

I have a TW with turbo boost, and the performance with everything is way better than the old linksys wrt54gs wired and wireless.

Cons: Price. I sucked it up, but there's no reason it should be so expensive.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again, guaranteed, but I'd still whine about the price

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money.

Pros: When this Router worked it screamed. The interface is easy to use.

Cons: In the past 3 months I have gone through 3 d-link routers. The 615 was great but during the first month it started to drop the wireless signal frequently. I returned it and upgraded (I thought) to the dir 855 which lasted 7 weeks and started dropping the wireless every 30 to 45 seconds. I return that one and got another one of the same and that dropped the wireless exactly like the last one right out of the box. After 2 exhausting days of trying everthing to get it to work I selected a Netgear wndr3700 (100.00 less) and everything is fine. The signal is a bit stronger than the D-link too. I like the interface and it is simple to set up.

Other Thoughts: Trying to find a good router these days is a pain in the behind (they wouldn't allow me to say the other word). I mainly wanted one for a media server. After reading tons of reviews it appeared the Dir 855 was a good choice, however it was very disappointing. I think the 2.4ghz still is better over the 5.0ghz due to the fact that 5ghz is line of sight and won't penetrate walls.

The NetGear Wndr3700 is also a simultaneous dual band router and has a built in media server. It is also almost half the price of the 855 and is faster and has better range.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me either

Pros: Never worked right for me to tell.

Cons: I had to RMA this device. I am on a Comcast network, and the device would not function consistently even wired. I upgraded the firmware from 1.21NA (it came with this) to 1.22NA It dropped info and had issues remaining on the Internet.

I checked D-Links forums and there others who were waiting for a response. I think Newegg should stop selling this device.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Router

Pros: Dual Band Work great through 40 ft. XBOX 360, PS3, WII, two laptops and an iPhone work excellent with it.

Cons: I noticed my g range was a little less than my previous was dir-655, but once I changed the wireless to 20/40 auto, this went away. I'm not sure if there is any correlation...

Other Thoughts: Best router I have owned. I went through many Linksys, Netgear, now D-Link.

5 out of 5 eggsKnow what you're doing!

Pros: It works. The manual is actually pretty good - it's a PDF on the CD. I like the web based configuration app. Dual channels work really well for me, and it paired seamlessly with the DAP-1522. I use comcast, and outside of the wireless configuration, it was completely plug and play.

Cons: On about day 4, I inexplicably lost my configuration settings, and had to repeat the 3 minute installation process.

Other Thoughts: Read the manual and you'll be fine.
