D-Link helps remove clutter from your life. Okay, so it's just cable clutter -- but anything helps. The DWA-556 Draft N wireless adapter can achieve transfer speeds 3x faster than wired fast ethernet without ugly wires tangled up behind your computer. It's also up to 14x faster and has a 6x longer range than 802.11g networks. The high speed PCI-e interface lets you take maximum advantage of the adapter.
Installation of this PCI-e card is fast and easy with the Quick Adapter Setup Wizard that takes you through the process step by step. Once the adapter is set up you can surf the web, stream HD video and transfer files, all at the same time.
Because the need for security is at an all time high you have a choice between WEP, WPA and WPA2 protocols to protect your data. In addition to data protection a secure network means that nobody is leeching bandwidth and slowing your network down.
Pros: Worked with every OS that I threw at it, Linux, Vista, Vista 64bit, Linux 64bit, XP. Stronger signals with ndiswrapper under linux for some reason but above 80% in all OS's anywhere in my house.
Cons: Atheros chipset on card not natively supported by linux madwifi but works perfect with ndiswrapper and the XP driver.

Works in Linux

Pros: Works in Linux, tri-band, Better signal than my previous card. PCI-Ex1, perfect for my TForce 550 motherboard.
Cons: Took some time to set it up in Ubuntu 7.04. I don't care for the 3 antennas on the back of the case, can block inputs/outputs to other cards. Thankfully they swivel!
Other Thoughts: Took some time to set it up in Ubuntu 7.04 but it works and well. Haven't tried with SUSE, yet!

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Worked right out of the box in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit without any added drivers. This is the best card and I checked out a bunch of others before deciding on this one. I also love the fact it is PCI-E.
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: I also bought the additional external D-Link ANT-24-0230 External Antenna with mine and have loved it ever since. GREAT products BOTH of them!

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Easy installation, very nice GUI. I was skeptical about a pci card, i always found usb to be better having it placed higher then the pc on the floor but this card still gets awesome signal strength from the dir-655 router, runs perfectly fine on Windows 7 Ulti 64bit
Cons: none really
