5 out of 5 eggs7 years so far and still works perfectly!

Pros: Has lasted me longer than any piece of computer equipment...ever.

Cons: Zero

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I'm shocked at how long this card has lasted. According to my purchase history I bought this on 6/16 of 2009. To this day it still works great in my backup machine. I remember back in the days of Vista it had some driver issues, but those are no more. The card just won't die; it might even make it to 10 years...and if it does I will write another review!

2 out of 5 eggsInconsistent

Pros: - Simple to Setup
- Looks cool having 3 antennas out of the back of your case.
- Works most of the time

Cons: - Very Inconsistent reception
- Weak reception
- Refuses to connect to Wi-Fi often & for no reason
- Last driver was in 2012 & no Windows 8 or Windows 10 drivers
- I've had this because it was really the only thing on the market and it's been pretty poor overall
- Don't try to game with this; your ping will be all over the place.
- I've gone back to a wired connection for good now; thank heavens.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this. Get something else.

1 out of 5 eggsUsed to work until recently..

Pros: At first, the drivers were working correctly and the connection was moderately stable. I didn't have many problems with it.

Cons: Within nearly 3 to 6 months of use, it dropped connections constantly and the drivers quit working even after reinstalling and restarting my computer multiple times. After all this, it isn't even recognized by my computer and I have tried multiple PCI ports.

Other Thoughts: Definitely not worth what I paid for. The drivers are barely usable.

1 out of 5 eggsBe careful with D-Link

Pros: Fast network connection, but any network adaptor will have high enough bandwidth for a home network.

Cons: This specific model is notorious for having a high defect rate. Chance of getting a defective unit is high which often means extremely high packet loss. Check through search engine about dwa-556 packet loss and you'll see what I mean.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't recommend this model to anyone, but if you happen to get a good unit, your left with an adaptor that any $20 unit would perform equally.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the price

Pros: A bit on the higher end when it comes to standard home use, but I bought this adapter close to 2 years ago because I live in the backwoods where we are unable to receive any Internet service other than dial-up, which I refuse to use since I am so use to working with some sort of high-speed connection. I am able to pick up 3-4 bars any day of the week from a wireless signal emitted by a hotel about a quarter of a mile away from my house, even through all of the trees. I'd say this was worth the extra money, as it definitely does its job. It also comes with software that helps display/run the wireless signals, but I usually don't use it. This adapter integrates with the stock Windows wireless manager very nicely.

Cons: None, really.

Other Thoughts: If you need a reliable adapter that is easy to integrate and does the job its intended, look no further. Just remember to play around with the antennas a little bit to get your strongest signal strength if need be(which can be checked in percentage form by using the wireless management software that comes with the disk...kind of neat, actually).

3 out of 5 eggsI hope there's something better

Pros: It works well most of the time.

Cons: Sometimes I have to reinstall Windows to get it connected.

Other Thoughts: Connected to a Netgear WNDR4500, and it works well when it does. Software not very soft. Had a hard time finding drivers that would work, because apparently, the drivers that came with it doesn't work. Even when I updated them. Had to search interne forums. Even then, the new drivers I found weren't that good. If it doesn't work for you, reinstalling Windows might help.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked solid so far!

Pros: Pretty simple to install. Has worked well for me! My router is downstairs, but my PC is upstairs and I still get 80+%. Works solid even for gaming!

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: Make sure you install the most updated drivers from the website! The drivers on the disks are out-dated and my not work right with your PC. The most update driver helps the adapter run at optimal speed and strength. And obviously make sure you point the antennas in the general direction of the router and your set!
