5 out of 5 eggsWork absolutely great

Pros: Extremely stable on both wired and wireless (2.4 G & 5.0 N) connections, more than adequate media compatibility, skip/search/seek/ff/rwd work on most media types

Cons: Start up on wireless connection is really slow

Other Thoughts: I've owned all of DLink's media players and this one is without a doubt the best of them. I suspect the reason this one operates smoothly is because Microsoft had a hand is developing it...obviously Microsoft will always make its products 100% compatible with other Microsoft products. This product works best on a wired connection. I've found commands from the remote are more responsive with wired vs wireless connection. As for the remote it has really good range and does not necessarily have to have line-of-sight to work. It seems each time I use the DSM-750 I learn it can do some new function. Just the other day I wanted to jump to a specific point in a video and realize you can key in a specific time marker and it will jump straight to that point. How cool is that? Overall, this was a great purchase. I bought many items thinking this is a good buy. This time I was right. DLink has finally gotten their media player perfect. If they add more supported file types it will be even better.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: I previously owned the DSM-320 and wanted to upgrade to wireless N and HDMI/HD video. This player is perfect! I originally used it with tversity (a upnp server), but then I discovered windows media center and I'm never going back. Its awesome! This device looks exactly like my computer screen in media center, and plays all of my media for me. I purchase seasons of shows on Unbox regularly, and another great feature of this product is that I can delete shows after I watch them so that I don't lose my place. I am going to buy another one, maybe two.

Cons: Newegg seems to have stopped selling this item :( I hate ordering from the rainforest company that starts with an "A" when newegg has it but now I have no choice.

Other Thoughts: When I first got the unit, it wouldn't play AVS files (HD format), but then I did an auto-update right from the remote, and 3 minutes later I was watching 720p! (I only have a 720p tv) Everywhere the DSM-320 fell short, this unit has picked up the slack. I will not buy another brand no matter what.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly how I hoped it woudl be

Pros: Easy to use, good range on remote control, direct usb playback of media

Cons: folder navigation with a bunch of files takes a long time to load

Other Thoughts: this a great network device. at first i was having trouble playing back videos...they would occasionally freeze. after some troubleshooting...actually alot of trouble shooting...i found out that Windows Vista was the problem. The power settings in Vista, if set incorrectly can interrup playback. I changed those along with the wake-on lan setting in my network adapter and the interruption have stopped. so glad this was not related to the dsm-750 and just an issue that with a little bit of luck i was able to fix it.

5 out of 5 eggsCool Media Extender

Pros: - I've just got DSM-750 almost 2 weeks. Easy installation.
- Processing speed should be improved more.

Cons: - It takes time to boot DSM-750.
- Pricey

Other Thoughts: - Should have ability to upgrade (about the memory)

5 out of 5 eggsBest DLink media player yet!!!

Pros: Full-featured UPnP server plus media center extended plus direct USB media playback

Cons: folders with a lot of files can be tedious to navigate

Other Thoughts: I've owned the DSM-320, DSM-320RD, DSM-510, DSM-520 and now this one. I really thought the DSM-510 was nice compared to the earlier ones, but now having experienced the DSM-750 it is now king of the hill. As expected there were bumps to getting everything setup and working correctly...most of the issues i had were related to setting the correct power settings in Windows Vista so media playback would not be interrupted. Once I got those settings correct my media files playback correctly and flawlessly over Wireless-N using a Linksys WRT600N router. My only complain is folder navigation with a lot of files. This takes a long time. I get around it by keying in a search for the specific file I want. Overall, this is not a perfect 100 but I would give it a 95 easily. I only deal with 4 formats .avi(DivX), .dvrms(MCE recorded tv), .mp3, and .wma, thus all my media plays back perfectly.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it! Junk!

Pros: It mostly works.

Cons: Display is *terrible*. Ugly, ugly, ugly at every resolution. Fonts and pictures are a blurred mess.

Device is SLOW. Painfully slow. Second long pause when navigating between menu items (on 1gb wired ethernet). Device does not support MCE's "DVD Library" at all. So you simply can't view any DVDs you happen to have on MCE.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy it! It's worthless junk. I'm returning mine to newegg first thing tomorrow AM.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product from D-Link... about time

Pros: Plays back everything it says it will, no problems. Easy set up for both Media Extender or Media Lounge. I have it set up for Media Lounge and use both D-Link Media server and Tversity media server and it works great with both. Video is smooth and audio is always in sync.

Cons: Doesn't play back .mkv hd video which almost all HD video is in this container. Maybe D-Link can add support for this container in future upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I have tried to convert the .mkv to other containers keeping the HD format and have been succesful with the DSM-750 playing them back, but the audio goes out of sync no matter what other container I try, avi, mp4, wmv. The video looks great though. I have this connected to my network wired and connected to my Widescreen using HDMI.

2 out of 5 eggsFYI - Will not play dvd-menus, IFO/ISO

Pros: Plays a wide range of media, supports and plays large vob files without a hitch. is terrific for playing 'typical' single-file movies. upnp works well to connect to your home network and upnp-enabled nas devices.

Cons: At this price point, hdmi 1.3a, 1080i/p, support for an internal hard disk, and good upscale/upconverting are normally included. The software interface lacks some serious polish. you can not play interactive dvd's (you are out of luck if you want/need to be able to select things from a dvd menu, like in my case, exercise video which lose a lot of appeal if the menu goes bye-bye).

Other Thoughts: A fyi for people considering purchase of the dsm750; it does not support IFO and ISO dvd rips. It does not support recreation of interactive dvd menus (a dealbreaker for me). If you have a single directory of movies that are all named differently wherein all movies are in one or two parts, this player works exceptionaly well. kinda like an online vcr tape library... Other competitors at, and below, this price offer a great deal more features.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Works perfectly, great performance over Wi-Fi. Capable of streaming from a Vista Media Center PC *and* a UPnP server. Live TV capability is amazing.

Cons: Practically none

Other Thoughts: This is my first review, ever of any product on any site (at least that I can remember). So, this is already saying something.

I am using it over Wi-Fi (Draft N), and have no problems streaming SD video content. There are no artifacts or stuttering or anything like that. I have not tried streaming HD video because it is hooked up to a SD TV in the bedroom.

Live TV and Recorded TV capability through Vista MC is great. I also have an HP MediaVault server on my network and am able to stream media from there. The ability to stream from a standard server is a bonus feature that separates this product from other MCXs.

This item is great as an MCX. It is great as a UPnP player. You get the best of both worlds here.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome...

Pros: Great remote, quick response and played almost anything I threw at it. Wireless N works nicely with a draft AP and plays 720 and 1080 HD without studder (I live in a small condo and I'm not too far from my TV anyway). Setup was a breeze and wizards are very easy to go through. Auto network setup does everything you need... just plug in your WPA or WEP key and it will take care of everything itself. I had it up and running in about five minutes flat. Vista Ultimate detected it right away... no pain at all. Rewind and fast forward actually work!!!

Cons: Included CD did not come with media server and DLink does not provide download in DSM-750 page. However, you can download it from other media players' download page. That frustrated me a bit and made me install Vista instead of my beloved XP... I had a deal with myself to wait until Windows 7 comes out but I broke it... I'm glad I did.

Other Thoughts: I had my eye on this one ever since DLink announced it about a year and half ago. I owned a few of these things... but none from DLink so I can't speak of other DLink products. Last one I kissed goodbye about three years ago because of very limited media support and endless studder, shutdown and freeze, but I was already tired of sitting at my desk to enjoy my TB of music, videos and TV series. I had no problem whatsoever with this one and I'm glad that I finally found something I liked.

If you've been waiting for a decent network player go for it.
