1 out of 5 eggsNo Support-Bad Firmware

Pros: Cheap-Thanks Newegg. Handled assigning adresses OK.

Cons: Would not show network shares in Windows Explorer. Refused to work at all with Samba under Linux distros. 2Wire and Netgear routers worked fine. Sent email to D-Link explaining problem and stating that other routers worked fine. Reply was that D-Link did not support file sharing -even though there was the entry on their drop down menu for network/file sharing- and that I should contact the computer mfg. for this. I replied to this and told them that since other routers worked fine that I considered this a router problem. Never heard back from D-Link. In frustration, I flashed the firmware to DD-Wrt, and everything then worked w/o changing any file sharing parameters. D-Link should be ashamed to put out a product where you have to replace the firmware with 3rd party firmware in order to make the product work. Also their support was non existent. I will not buy D-Link products any longer for myself or for clients

1 out of 5 eggsDir-615 - Poor

Pros: When it works, the range is reasonably acceptable.

Cons: This router will disconnect you non-stop. You'll have to power surge it in order to reconnect.

The firmware update prevents you from modifying your rts threshold and other features.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself the time and buy a different router that preforms better. Dlink has lost what little respect I had for them.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed router

Pros: Easy setup, cheap, paid $19.99.

Cons: Drop connection frequently, even showing full signal. Tried reset couple of times, then no more connectivity. Newegg was ready to take it back, shipping cost over $13.00. Called Dlink for support and customer service said it's defective but willing not offer a return shipping label even knowing it's defective and owned less than a month.

Other Thoughts: I am not ready to invest $13.00 UPS fee on a potential defective product from Dlink. I have to think twice before buying another Dkink product, and I'll probably not recommend anyone buying Dlink products.

5 out of 5 eggsworks as expected

Pros: Good price. $20 is very nice for N router+ adapter. Pretty good speed and signal strength. DD-WRT compatible.

Cons: not so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this router as backup for my Linksys E2000. I was a little bit worried since almost 50% reviews are negative (3 eggs and below). I immediately installed DD-WRT so I can not tell how it works with default firmware. Then to test it I replaced my Linksys and have been using D-Link for about 2 weeks. I did not notice big difference. May be a little bit slower in WiFi connection when downloading huge files (to test I use Java installation from Oracle site) but not visible without measurement. Adapter worked right out of the box and is a little bit faster then my old cheap Rosewill (~$6). So far no any issues. I have one computer wired and 3 wireless computers and TV which connected though WiFi, all work without any problem. One important thing, I power my devices - cable modem, router, phone adapter through UPS. I think it prevents any influence power can introduce. I am going to use it 3-4 weeks more and then switch back to Linksys. Will update you if any problem appears.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking as expected

Pros: DD-WRT compatible. Flashed the latest brainslayer release directly from the web UI and it set right up, no hassle. I'm using this as a repeater bridge on the far side of my home and it's working wonderfully. Picked this up for $19.99 with free shipping, so the deal couldn't be beat!

The USB-N adapter included in this kit "just worked" when plugged into a very old (Pentium 3 1Ghz with USB 1.1 only) laptop running Ubuntu 12.10. Can't beat that.

Cons: Default firmware is lacking, slow and probably buggy. Replace the default firmware with DD-WRT if you're going to use this as a primary router, if for no other reason than the additional security.

4 out of 5 eggsIt CAN work

Pros: Works great for my internet ready tv and my wireless printer.

Cons: The tv randomly was losing the signal at first.

Other Thoughts: I changed a setting to keep it from dropping the connections. If you have newer stuff then change the settings to just connect to the latest tech instead of allowing it to try to connect to everything with all the old tech. It's been a couple years but it seems like I just use "n" or "wpa2".Connect to the address on the back of the router to access the menu directly.

1 out of 5 eggsOkay wired...

Pros: Both the router and the receiver were simple to set up.
Router works great when using wired connection.
Seemed to work okay when using 1 to 2 wireless devices.

The wireless adapter looks cool and lights up until it dies.

Cons: Router:
- Likes to kick random devices off when 3 or more are connected.
- Sometimes shows full connection, but nobody can do anything on network or internet.
- Likes to kick ALL devices of sometimes.
- Needs a reboot multiple times per hour.

Adapter:
- Did not pick up signal very well, about 2 bars whereas other adapters get full strength.
- Started randomly disconnecting itself/locking up after about 3 months.
- Eventually died after about 8 months.

Other Thoughts: Router:
Worked okay for a bout a week when we only had a couple wireless devices connected to it, but when we started adding more the thing started locking up. At first it required roughly a reset per day, but quickly deteriorated to needing multiple resets per hour. It would kick random devices off (even when only using 3 devices), and other times kick everyone off. Sometimes it would show a connection but you couldn't do anything with it. Got this on sale because I wanted wireless N, was totally not worth the price.

Adapter:
Looks really cool, stopped working and died within a year.

1 out of 5 eggsbad router

Pros: It didn't catch on fire

Cons: Restarts often and was the cause of regular disconnections between my home and office Citrix server. I finally replaced the router and my Citrix session worked without any issues. This router caused me a ton of wasted time troubleshooting this issue.
