If you've got more than one computer in the house, sooner or later, you'll probably need a local network of your own. And if you've got a gamer in the house, they'll want all the high-speed bandwidth they can get. Time to get a router where even the wireless runs at 108Mbps.

With four wired ports capable of running at 10/100/1000 Mbps and optimized for the gaming fan's needs, this router can feed your greed for speed. Not into games? Well, it should still do fine for heavy bandwidth applications like distributed video, while allowing your laptops the freedom to roam wherever your lap goes. The reverse SMA antenna is also removable so you can change it if you need to.

Is this the wireless router for you? Only you can decide that, but remember: we'll be waiting right here when you've made up your mind.

2 out of 5 eggsNot reliable

Pros: Easy setup, very easy.

Cons: Router works great if you can tolerate having to reset it three, four, maybe five times a day.

Other Thoughts: It has been replaced.

2 out of 5 eggsPay a lot - get a lot (of hassles)

Pros: LOTS of potential. Dual-channel router that offers great wireless range coverage on both the "G" and "N" bands. Settings are very straightforward and pretty easy to use. Gamefuel Technology is a great packet optimzer technology that will yield noticeable differences.

Cons: The router suffers from many intermittent problems. Rather, one problem that seems to happen very intermittently. I have a hybrid network consisting of wired and wireless devices. My wireless devices consist of two 802.11”N” machines and two 802.11”G” gaming consoles. The router will spontaneously deny a seemingly random device access to the network without warning. Regardless if the device is wired or wireless. There are occasions where the entire router “locks up” and will not allow any traffic in or out.

I’ve reloaded the firmware to ensure a clean upgrade, but that didn’t fix the problem. The only way to treat the symptom is to power cycle the router. However, within a week (sometimes two) the router will have to be power cycled again.

Other Thoughts: This isn't a new router - it's been available a while. And to be plauged with this many issues and STILL carry this kind of price tag - somebody in the marketing department has lost touch with reality. There are more stable routers available now, I'd consider one of them over this one if a purchase had to be made today.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Router

Pros: No problems for me running 24/7 for 2 weeks. Cool to the touch. Long range signal very good. Router in our basement and 3 floors above, in daughters bedrooms, 4 bars with both desktop and laptop with wireless N. No problems transferring gb chunks of data. Very smooth operations.

Cons: None. The OLED screen is nice, but takes a little time to get used to. Not really a con though.

Other Thoughts: Got it on sale for less that 100. I was hesitant to buy with all the recent negative reviews. No problems at all, and glad I bought it. Great router, fast with great range.

Pros: Awsome router, easy setup, good range, firmwares easy to update, fast wireless.

Cons: It refuses to make me breakfast.

Other Thoughts: This is a great piece of tech. I can download a file, max out my bandwidth and I will not notice it if I am surfing or playing a game online, outstanding!!

1 out of 5 eggsUseless - have to reboot constantly

Pros: It is incredibly fast when it runs.

Cons: Have to reboot this system at least once a day. DLink know of the issue(search around and you will see) and have no fix for it.

Other Thoughts: It would be an amazing product if DLink could fix this issue

5 out of 5 eggsThroughput

Pros: My previous D-Link (a DGL-4100) worked well enough, but the big distinction between the older model and this one is throughput. With this model I can have multiple UDP streams running (games, internet radio) and still surf the web with ease. The older model would choke with too many demands placed on it. My wife and I run 4 Everquest sessions at the same time with no problem. If you have multiple PCs and a lot of heavy traffic - this is the one to buy.

Cons: Didn't come with a free pony.

Other Thoughts: In my experience D-Link products (I own several) have been reliable and easy to use. Previously I bought Linksys, and their units would fail sooner or later. I always look at the D-Link lineup first when I need home networking gear.

5 out of 5 eggsDGL-4500 router

Pros: Admitted, I just finished hooking it up 1 hr ago. But I like how it's very easy to get internet, wired and wireless connections up in minutes. Literally plug n play, save for the addition of our password and other options of choice.

Cons: Router can't update firmware past version 7/2009 by itself. I will have to manually get it to load 8/2010 version.

Other Thoughts: Great product and installation. Nice clean look. Doesn't get hot like previous router from other company.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Router

Pros: This router is working great for me for wired and wireless. I have a mixed bag of computers on my network. Linux, Windows XP and Windows 7. Older laptop with 54G and newer ones with N. Older computers with 100MB Ethernet and newer ones with GB. All are performing well. Call of Duty 4 online works great according to my son - way better than my old SMC router.

Cons: Cannot make the "Special Apps" work by opening a firewall port to a specific computer on the network but I have not yet proven it is not my ISP or the DSL Modem yet either.

Other Thoughts: The user interface is not as intuitive as others I have used but it gets the job done.
Have not tried the VPN, multicasting or jumbo packets yet.

5 out of 5 eggsbeen perfect for a year now

Pros: been running this router for a year now and has been flawless with every version of the firmware that's been released (current 1.22na). has never crashed or needed a manual re-boot.

Cons: this is a 2.4ghz or 5 ghz router, will not run both at same time so it's truly not a dual band router like other routers out there. need to install a small App. on your PC if you want too run a USB Printer or External hard drive as a network device.

Other Thoughts: have I ever regretted buying this router the first week they came out. nope.
will i buy a D-link Router again. Yes.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Router I've Owned

Pros: Runs great for the 15 seconds its able to run before resetting itself... OVER... OVER... OVER... OVER... AND OVER! FOREVER! It will never run stable. Complete JOKE!

Cons: Everything. I've tried all their firmware updates and nothing has improved performance. I've owned this for about 7 months and never got it to perform correctly.

Other Thoughts: I own a DGL-4300 which has been running absolutely great for many years now. I decided to bump up to wireless N and QoS on LAN... I can't believe how bad this router has been for me. I read other reviews about this router spam resetting itself before I purchased and they are 100% true. Do not even waste your money/time.

I am back to using my DGL-4300 for now and D-LINK will not be my top choice in router replacements come future upgrades.
