Cons: - No dual-band operation - NAS option is absolutely awful: we are talking snail speeds - Screen was displaying artifacts after one day - Required rebooting several times over a two day period
Other Thoughts: In short, stay away unless the screen is just too cool. You can do better than this if you go with a high-end router and a standalone NAS. I returned mine for a refund and went with the WGR3700 coupled with an HP LX195. I spent a few more bucks but... There is NO comparison.

Great gaming router
Reviewed By: Septu on 4/12/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Fastest WAN to LAN throughput of any router on the planet, according to Small Net Builder tests
LCD screen - Monitor traffic, change settings, set as a clock, etc. Using for photos is a waste if you ask me
"Eliminate Lag" feature prioritizes streaming traffic (games, video, VoIP) over all other traffic in a bandwidth amount you set. (I set to full bandwidth of course)
Hard to argue it's one of the best if not the best looking router out there either
Cons: The cons are all things I just so happen to not do or use:
Heat seems like it is only a problem if you put an HD inside. I don't, and the fan has never turned on. So the noisy fan/poor thermal design seems completely dependent on if/what HD you install. (I would seriously recommend a solid state hard drive if you did)
Again the poor Network Attached Storage transfer rates are irrelevant if you do not use the HD. (I personally would never use NAS in-router because it just screams security risk to me)
The front panel buttons are not exactly the best execution in the world (you feel almost like you're gonna break the panel pressing so hard to get it to recognize a button press sometimes) but again once you have it setup, you never need to touch em again
Other Thoughts: Once you set the timeouts for the LCD screen, and set the sleep, it becomes an incredibly intuitive device. For instance the LCD will wake when a new connection is made to the router. So when I turn on my Xbox to play MW2, the LCD wakes and goes to the speed meter page. After an hour, it reverts back to a very convenient clock for my living room, which helps me keep an eye on how long I'm gaming instead of having to turn around, look at my phone, etc. After another hour, it goes to sleep and turns off completely. For this functionality alone, it is worth it to me.
Just seeing the traffic monitors on the LCD makes gaming better. For instance I know exactly when I'm host of a game, if a poor connection is due to throughput or ping, what the average data transfer rates are (pretty shocked to find out MW2 only uses around 20-80kb/s on average for download if you aren't host, around 300kb/s if you are)
Anyways, a must if you are a gamer!

router

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Outstanding router! speed is great, no connectivity issues, and the storage/ftp options are amazing! Great customer support.
Cons: a little overpriced, in my opinion. also, read the manual. no matter what you already know about routers, this one is almost a self contained pc/server. i recommend the help videos on you-tube. Especially for setting up ftp functions.
Other Thoughts: if you want to set up a ftp or if you need a router with great wireless functions, this one is fantastic! a little high priced, but customer support makes up for it!
