Pros: cat6, wired, home-network use is without any noticeable problem.
I also have the 8port version of this switch as a part of this same network.
I used them originally with an older dlink router, the 655, which was a classic router and worthy of praise, but over the course of the past year it simply became unstable. It was old, it moved from one house to a second house to a third house. It needed to retire. I used up its useful life.
Now my two dlink switches are being used with a new asus rtn66u and are performing without problem, enjoying the improved stability of the asus router. Dlink did not make a replacement for the awesome 655 or I would have stayed with dlink for a new router. Did I say that the 655 was an awesome classic router. the forums and communities gave my choice of the asus router great weight.

Cons: none for me

Other Thoughts: construction, weight, smallness, design, light indicators, all are favorable features. I love it when these things work when they are plugged in and attached to their network cables. dlink is dependable by my experience. trust this switch!

Pros: Works perfectly out of the box. No problems of any kind. Nice little green/orange lights show through the top of the device. Very stylish, not brighter than they need to be. Green - 1000BaseT, Orange - 100BaseTX.

desktop switch is not some kind of high-tech, should be working like your toaster. Plug and play.

Cons: When I read 5 port, I expect to be able to plug in 5 devices and not use one port for incoming from router.

Pros: I would like to thank everyone who post reviews here. They have been very helpful for me to make decisions.
Both switches powered ON the first time, and the computers on both switches took a few minutes to get on the Internet. This may due to being the first time going through these network switches.

Cons: Just before I replaced both switches, I was able to download from one computer, and still browse on another computer on the same switch. Now I notice that if I download from one computer, the other computer takes a l-o-n-g time to browse the internet. Not that big of a deal since I do most of my downloads after midnight.

Other Thoughts: Nice case design. Smoked plastic shell, amber lights to indicate network activity, green light for power. Switch can be wall mounted if necessary. Having 5 ports is nice, since 1 port connects to the router, leaving only 4 ports for the computers and other devices.

Pros: Operated as intended.

Other Thoughts: I wound up not needing it.

Pros: I've installed several of these, all rock solid.

Cons: it'd be great if they can stand on their side, but the design only allows flat sitting, which is fine I guess.

D-Link keep promising that they will send me RMA number, nothing has happened and their support number is out of service.

Pros: ? Ordered two of these, one works, one was DOA

Cons: My concern here was the return process was very frustrating. Instead of the customer service representative trying to facilitate a return, she was trying to explain why the product had to be returned to the manufacturer since it had been over 30 day since the purchase. However, the item was covered by the Extended return policy of 60 days refund and 90 days replacement. After a very frustrating experience she finally looked at the item description and agreed it could be returned. NOT what I was expecting from Newegg and certainly not the "how can I help you" attitude we have come to expect.
