Pros: I had my first one for 4 years with nary a problem. It provides full bandwidth (counting overhead bits in the mix) even over long wires.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The first one failed due to no fault of its own - a new kitten used the power cord for teething.

When I say that this is the second one, I mean that both were model DGS-1008G. However, the new one is smaller and the power block connects with a little trapezoid-shaped connector; the original used a straight plug that you poked in a hole. I contacted D-Link out of curiosity but tech support didn't know what the actual (functional) differences were if any. So I was transferred to presales(?) who wasn't answering their phone.

Pros: good price, fast reliable switch

Cons: nothing bad to say here

Other Thoughts: I use these from time to time and never have a problem with them in small business situations.

Cons: Failed after 20 days.

Power stays on, ports all dead. Pull plug and all ports work for about 20 minutes then all turn off and connections die. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Other Thoughts: This will be the last D-Link product I buy after many fails.

Back to Netgear for home and work.

Pros: This really improved my internet speed... I run up to 10 devices on one modem..Now all my devices can run at full speed without affecting the speed of my other devices..this is like stealing bandwidth..

Other Thoughts: I have had this switch for over 2 years and it has been rock solid. I recently had some connectivity issues for which I contacted D link support. Tech support agent Hazel (AR004636) walked me through a few steps that eventually resolved my problems. The switch is back working as it has for the last 2 years.

Pros: -Reliable
-Easy plug and play
-10/100/1000 great for fiber
-Plenty of ports

Cons: There isn't a reset power button on the switch. You have to remove the power cord. This isn't a big deal, but it is the only thing i could think of that was negative.

Other Thoughts: Great switch for the price. Reliable and durable if you are using it at LANs.

Pros: I use this switch to connect 2 PCs and a server that services as a file server and a hypervisor, also I have a small NAS connected as well and a gigabit AP; depending on the load I'm seeing a transfer rate of between 100-120 MB/s on the LAN which is very close to max transfer rate over a gigabit network.Well its unmanaged switch, so no configuration required, also the low price doesn't hurt.

Cons: It powered on. All lights are blinking. Computer is saying Ethernet cable isn't plugged in. PS3 can't establish Network. Apple TV isn't connecting.

Other Thoughts: Network is just dead. I plugged my Linksys 5 port back in and it works fine. Only thing I can think of is the box says "minimum requirements Cat 5e", but manual says anything Cat 5 will work. Either way, it's not working.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do without unnecessary bells and whistles.

Cons: Unclear how the switch appropriates bandwidth to different devices.

Other Thoughts: I use this after my wireless router to network the rest of the house (wired obviously). Initially I was using an extra wireless router for this purpose but all of the security protocols and tech in the router was difficult to deactivate and it was nearly impossible to get other devices to show up on my network. This switch is simple and does exactly what it is supposed to do without unnecessary bells and whistles.

Pros: I have two of these and they work fine. My server is on one, connected to the other, then to my desktop, and file transfers are fast, 70-110 MBps.
