Pros: Compact size.

Cons: Horrific performance. I had two G wireless adapters that vastly outperform it on two different computers.

Connection status reports 72Mbps, but speedtest.net reports less than 3 Mbps (on an 18 Mbps connection). File transfers between computers on the local network reflect that same sub 3Mbps speed.

Other Thoughts: What a piece of garbage. Tried the drivers on the disc (June 2010) and drivers directly from D-Link's website (August 2011). Same results either way on two different Windows 7 PCs.

1 out of 5 eggsDLink missed on this one.

Pros: The product was cheap, however a low price often indcates an inferior product. That axiom is certainly true in this case.

Cons: Windows 7 hates this device. Having installed on several computers, the driver is found and installed but the device does not activate until the DLink bloatware is installed.
Even then, it will not connect to a hidden SSID. It is possible we just got a bad batch (five of them) however it is more likely just a subpar product. Windows network and sharing center reports an "unknown error" when attempting to build a network connection.

Other Thoughts: Edimax has a nano adapter that installs first time every time.

3 out of 5 eggsokay

Pros: easy to install, acceptable for just internet browsing and light gaming

Cons: not reliable/stable, jumping between 1mbps and 6mbps according to speedtest.net, averge 3 to 4 mbps while my ipad and laptop is 6 to 8 mbps. runs really hot after internet browsing or gaming for 1 hour, not recommended

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: *Appears to work better (stronger signal) than the D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme Desktop PCI Express card when installed approximately 6 inches from each other on the same desktop and alternately disabled in Device Manager.
*So far no excessive heating, only slightly warm to touch when removed.

Cons: Installation software did not automatically recognize the device and install the software. Called D-Link Tech Support. Had to install the driver using Device Manager and pointing to the location of the drivers. Operating system: W7 64 bit. This really was just a bit frustrating, the device worked fine after.

Other Thoughts: Also could not use the included CD because laptop does not have a working CD drive so copied CD contents to a flash drive and installed drivers from the flash drive.
