3 out of 5 eggsFinally got around to using it.

Pros: Price was right (free)
Does what I need it to do.

Cons: Older product, limited support from D-Link. Newest firmware is beta and it's from July of 2013.

Other Thoughts: I got this router for free when I purchased a Motorola cable modem from Newegg. It sat in the unopened box for well over a year before I found a use for it. I put it in our son's bedroom so that he has his own wireless access point and enough ports to plug his stuff into. For that, it's working perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggs2 Years going strong

Pros: easy set up, 2 years ago. I have never had a problem with this router. Wireless has never fallen out for movies through a blue ray player.

Cons: none whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Purchased in October of 2012 for 34.99. I can't see why so many others have had so many problems

1 out of 5 eggslike others said, avoid this router!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Theoretically good specs.....

Cons: This thing just doesn't work. after a day or so existing devices that could connect wirelessly will not be able to, looks like the IP address doesn't get assigned correctly. Spent multiple hours on the phone with Dlink tech support, finally got them to RMA a new one (after I had to follow up after a month, because they had my email address wrong). In the RMA wording they say that you need to return not just the router and the power supply, but the original CD, ethernet cable and quick start guide as well, or else they will charge you from your deposit!

So I received my replacement, same issue. Called them back, told them I want a different one. Made me update the firmware (which is a beta version), even though it came loaded on the router. Changed some settings, same ones I changed while troubleshooting prior to the RMA. Does not looking promising...

Avoid D-link in general and this router in particular!

1 out of 5 eggsA potato coud route better than this

Pros: It was on sale?
makes great firewood. That's a pro I guess

Cons: -constantly drops signals
-does NOT stream media faster
-firmware upgrade does NOT help.
-tech support did not help whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I could have bought a 4$ potato at the grocery store that emits a stronger signal than this sh|t. furthermore, you can't load a jpeg without the thing dropping you.

1 out of 5 eggsABSOLUTE GARBAGE

Pros: It's not edible. You wouldn't want to each trash anyways.

Cons: Wireless drops every few hours, requires a router reboot to temporarily get a connection again. I can go on and on about all the things I've tried, but that won't matter.

Other Thoughts: Please, save yourself the headache and time and stay away from this defective product. If I had known about it being this problematic, I would not have accepted it even if it was FREE. It's not truly "free" when you spend a lot of time trying to diagnose and troubleshoot, only to end up realizing you've gone through all that frustration for nothing. At least having no router at all would save me that time/frustration.

Please look at all the other reviews, and you can see the same recurring problem of wifi problem and constant rebooting can only temporarily fix it for a day max.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Wireless N
Gigabit Speeds
Sleek design
Plenty of options, some beyond what I will need to use.

Cons: This router started out nicely, but now almost a year in, I am discovering a lot of issues, such as constantly having to reset in order to restore internet connectivity.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the router on a shell shocker deal for around 20, and for that price I got at least what I paid for. When the router arrived I had no issues at all, but now there have been a lot of letdowns and I am looking for a new router.

Manufacturer Response:

We thank you for your feedback as we really do appreciate and value your input. We are sorry to hear that you have been experiencing connection issues recently. Please make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware. If that does not solve your issue reset your router to its factory settings and then update the firmware and re-configure the wireless settings. If connection issues still persists, perhaps D-Link technical support can solve the problem. Contact them at www.support.dlink.com. We thank you for choosing D-Link.

1 out of 5 eggsstay away

Pros: Gigabit Ethernet and N router speedspeed. Sometimes, it actually works. Was not full price.

Cons: Horribly inconsistent/unstable wireless connectivity. Range is only average.

Other Thoughts: Have owned since March 2013 and tried 2 different firmware versions. The latest made it almost useful...but maybe only 90% uptime trying all the tricks posted by previous user posts and I'm not interested in daily network reboots. Retiring this one....thank goodness it was only twenty bucks on sale.

4 out of 5 eggsStreams movies good.

Pros: Streams movies from my plex server better that my $200 1inkxxs router. A little less range but not bad.

Cons: Had to apply the "beta" firmware for it to be stable.

Other Thoughts: Bought it a long time ago from here on a fire sale. Never used it, bought it for the price. Is working so well I've left it in-place. Seems to stream the HD movies better. I'l like to buy a better one but now-a-days you don't know what you'll get no matter how much you spend. Might as well hang on to this as long as it keeps working so well.
