1 out of 5 eggsABSOLUTE GARBAGE

Pros: It's not edible. You wouldn't want to each trash anyways.

Cons: Wireless drops every few hours, requires a router reboot to temporarily get a connection again. I can go on and on about all the things I've tried, but that won't matter.

Other Thoughts: Please, save yourself the headache and time and stay away from this defective product. If I had known about it being this problematic, I would not have accepted it even if it was FREE. It's not truly "free" when you spend a lot of time trying to diagnose and troubleshoot, only to end up realizing you've gone through all that frustration for nothing. At least having no router at all would save me that time/frustration.

Please look at all the other reviews, and you can see the same recurring problem of wifi problem and constant rebooting can only temporarily fix it for a day max.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Wireless N
Gigabit Speeds
Sleek design
Plenty of options, some beyond what I will need to use.

Cons: This router started out nicely, but now almost a year in, I am discovering a lot of issues, such as constantly having to reset in order to restore internet connectivity.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the router on a shell shocker deal for around 20, and for that price I got at least what I paid for. When the router arrived I had no issues at all, but now there have been a lot of letdowns and I am looking for a new router.

Manufacturer Response:

We thank you for your feedback as we really do appreciate and value your input. We are sorry to hear that you have been experiencing connection issues recently. Please make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware. If that does not solve your issue reset your router to its factory settings and then update the firmware and re-configure the wireless settings. If connection issues still persists, perhaps D-Link technical support can solve the problem. Contact them at www.support.dlink.com. We thank you for choosing D-Link.

1 out of 5 eggsstay away

Pros: Gigabit Ethernet and N router speedspeed. Sometimes, it actually works. Was not full price.

Cons: Horribly inconsistent/unstable wireless connectivity. Range is only average.

Other Thoughts: Have owned since March 2013 and tried 2 different firmware versions. The latest made it almost useful...but maybe only 90% uptime trying all the tricks posted by previous user posts and I'm not interested in daily network reboots. Retiring this one....thank goodness it was only twenty bucks on sale.

4 out of 5 eggsStreams movies good.

Pros: Streams movies from my plex server better that my $200 1inkxxs router. A little less range but not bad.

Cons: Had to apply the "beta" firmware for it to be stable.

Other Thoughts: Bought it a long time ago from here on a fire sale. Never used it, bought it for the price. Is working so well I've left it in-place. Seems to stream the HD movies better. I'l like to buy a better one but now-a-days you don't know what you'll get no matter how much you spend. Might as well hang on to this as long as it keeps working so well.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Recommended! - Seriously

Pros: "Documented" Feature set was exactly what I was looking for.

Actual feature set: It turns on, serves up IP Addresses via DHCP, and provides marginal connectivity for a short while.

Cons: Slow, memory leaks, buggy, unreliable, little support, retail price is ridiculous for what you get.

Other Thoughts: Owned for almost 1 year. Bought for external USB drive support.

USB never worked well. Would share devices, but any actual drive access would slowly degrade the connection until it was useless. Tech support was not helpful. Firmware, etc was latest version ( and no updates have been released in a year ).

I gave up on the USB port. Then I got frustrated with the wireless doing the same thing - it will show great signal strength but the throughput would slowly degrade until browsing is painful and I would have to reboot the device.

I finally ran a wired cat 5 connection upstairs so I could work, because the wired connection appeared more reliable. Other wireless connections in the house were less active and would last longer before a reboot. I just got used to rebooting the device every week or so to keep things working.

Well my wife finally asked me why our wireless was soo bad. That woke me up. I ordered a Linksys EA3500 refurb. Within 30 seconds of the new router working I was amazed how fast the internet was over the wireless connection compared to my last year with the D-Link. I had forgotten what it was like. The Linksys "wireless" connection was faster than the "wired" D-Link connection.

I am embarrassed that I let the D-Link last as long as I did. I thought I could donate it to someone, but after seeing the Linksys work I would not wish it on anyone.

I guess I will throw it out and try very hard to remember the simple fact: "I have owned two D-Link routers in the past and have been extremely disappointed in both of them. I will never buy another D-Link product again." - repeat until memorized. I will not be fooled again.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth your time. Junk Product Junk Support

Pros: IPv6 but if the router never works what does that matter.

Cons: Disconnects Wireless
Takes reboot for every setting change
No firmware helps with wireless and IPv6
Randomly stops port forwarding
Just Junky a SS router

Other Thoughts: Piece of Junk. Do not buy this router even if it is free. I got this on Auction Wizard Site for 19.99 since Comcast would offer IPv6. Upgraded the firmware and worked fine. Started having the wireless drop and never work until restarted. That was like 10 min time between restarts. Updated to newest beta firmware, now IPv6 does not work. Just such a BAD product I don't see how they could sell it and smile. Called support got an RMA but now want to charge me 12 dollars for the CD that came with the router and 5 dollars for the quick installation guide. Really? I don't need you to send this JUNK back to me. Religious Icon I am going to trash this router since RMAing it requires me to pay them for JUNK I don't want in the first place. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU LIKE STUFF THAT DOES NOT WORK! I cannot even believe that Newegg sells this for such a high price. If you want one for free come check my trash can. Apparently you cannot say Dog backwards in reviews really?

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: None. It started dropping connections from day 1. Network would randomly disappear.

Cons: This router is a con. I started having issued with dropped connections, disappearing network, timeouts, etc right away. I wish I could give it zero eggs. Tried software and firmware updates, also tried every configuration I could and nothing worked. A search of forums revealed dozens of people with the same problem and no solutions. Drops all connections, phone, computer, printer, etc. I even had trouble with the wired connections (though not near as many as the wireless). What were you thinking D-Link? If I was the only one with the problems I'd say defective item but the forums are littered with the exact same situation. Shame on you.

Other Thoughts: Stick with Asus, Linksys or Netgear.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Nothing special

Cons: Well, Ive used this router over the pass 1 year from the start it has been nothing but trouble, My advice is DO not buy this router. Ive had issues with the network disappearing, timing out, randomly DCing from the internet. Ive researched every problem and most people just get fed up and buy a new router, and i feel the same way. Ive reconfigured and reset the darn thing trying to find a stable way to run it. But still, its a piece of ****and i just want everyone to know they should never even consider buying this router.

Other Thoughts: When i get a new router, i plan on taking this piece of **** router out back and shooting it, burning it and smashing it. Because it deserves it and more. Its worst then a cheating girl, because at least they putout. this thing just lays there and expects you to make it work...
