1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does its job fine for some devices.

Cons: Flat out doesn't work with some of my devices, and is really flaky with others. You are taking a risk that this straight-up won't work with your computer if you buy this, and that just isn't acceptable for an access point.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: Unreliable, times out, won't complete downloads.

Other Thoughts: The D-Link DIR-501 Wireless N 150 Router is garbage. I upgraded the firmware and ran diagnostics, but it never worked properly. Multiple requests to D-link support were ignored. I finally bought a Cisco, Linksys E1200 and all the problems disappeared. I would never again buy a D-Link product. This product was junk and support was non-existent.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I wanted

Pros: Exactly what I wanted but got a nice surprize of almost triple the connection speed (wired connection, 7Mb to 19 Mb). I was using an old Microsoft MN-500 g router and the thing lost wireless connection every day. I had to reboot it often. Not this. It works perfectly. I followed the instructions and it came right up. Haven't had a single problem yet. I didn't want to spend much for a new router and this one was more than I expected. I highly recommend it. I got the 150 wireless adapter also and it works perfectly too.

Cons: None. Not a single one.

2 out of 5 eggsSerious issues assigning IP addresses

Pros: It was cheap. It was pretty basic to set up. Most everything was standard.

Cons: My biggest problem is with the DHCP. It will work perfectly for a day or so, then my computers get stuck at "obtaining IP address".

I've tried assigning specific IP's in the router for each computer and printer by MAC address, but that doesn't work either. I tried a hard reset and started over.

I've ended up having to assign static IP's on each computer and printer themselves. Nothing seems to work reliably except unplugging the router and restarting it. The firmware is up to date.

Occasionally it will come up with it's own SSID "DIR-501", which is not the one I assigned. The one I assigned is still shown in the setup page. Unplugging solves that too. *shrugs*

Other Thoughts: Right now I'm connected with a static IP, Have internet access, I can see the cable modem's setup page, I can successfully ping the router, but can't get the router's setup page to load. I'm pretty stumped on this one.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of config options for $15

Pros: Wireless N, easy to configure. Lots of configuration options like assigning IP's to MAC addressess (wish every router had this).

Cons: While simple to configure, every configuration seems like it wants to disconnect the router from the Internet and reconnect it (so it takes about 45 seconds). Also, I couldn't get the configuration screen to come up without it being connected to a WAN (the internet plugged in). It locks up on a detecting WAN url link.

Other Thoughts: I got it for 14.99 and was going to buy two more of these just to have them at such a cheap price, but now just two days later the price jumped up $10.00 so I won't be ordering them.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Does everything you could expect from a small router, and at a great price.

Cons: Only one antennae, but at the range I use it that's not a problem. If you need a broad range, that might be an issue though.

Other Thoughts: Meets the KISS requirement - keeps it simple ...

3 out of 5 eggsReally average router

Pros: very easy setup.it does everything for you. descent looking. Not the prettiest router out there but looks good where ever you put it

Cons: This thing just doesnt seem to release ip addresses soon enough and i have to reset it very often.at this point if this keeps happening im just going to have to buy another router.Such a dissapointment

Other Thoughts: this router packs alot of features but im just so dissapointed by the issue with not renewing ip addresses and as a result some of my computers wont connect

5 out of 5 eggsgreat value

Pros: Easy setup, it has an 'easy' mode and an advanced mode that gives you a normal web interface with more options. The price was great. It's also got a pretty small footprint.

Cons: no problems as of yet.
