Pros: Works great as long as you only need internet access

Cons: I tried every router/switch/powerline combo I could imagine and could never get my HTPC and Office computer to link up via homegroup, but I could see each computer on the network. I ran a cat5e cable outside my home and punched through the walls to each computer and the two linked up the instant I clicked on it...

Other Thoughts: Either I'm an idiot or these are good for surfing the net from anywhere in the house, and thats it.

Pros: Easy to setup

Cons: Slow. Only 1/2 or 1/4 of the specs

Other Thoughts: Connected two computers with Ethernet cables on a 1gb network: file transfered around 70 megabytes per second (around 560 megbits per second). Plugged both D-Link adapters into the same plain power outlet: file transfered around 7 megabytes per second (around 56 megabits per second).

Quite a bit short of the 100 megabits or 200 megabits per second claimed in the specs. My wireless N router provides around 8 megabytes per second file transfer; as good as the D-Link adapters, but cheaper.

Is around 56 megabits per second all I should expect from the D-Link adapters?

By the way, actually purchased a pair of DHP-311AVs. Received a box that had both “DHP-311AV” and “DHP-310AV” on the outside of the box. However, both of the adapters had “DHP-310AV” (only) on them. Newegg reports that the DHP-311AV has been “discontinued”. The specs of the DHP-310AV appear to be identical to the discontinued DHP-311AV.

D-Link/Newegg, what’s up?
