1 out of 5 eggsThis thing is a junk !!!

Pros: Cheap

Cons: - Traffic Control doesn't work as advertised.
- mydlink service doesn't work. Mine came with firmware 1.00. Newer firmware is 1.13, but it never told me about the newer firmware update. "Notice of firmware upgrade" is checked & enabled. Useless !
- Upgrade firmware to 1.13, and as the other user reported, the language turns into Italian in the first setup screen.

This product is almost only half-functional ! Buy something else !

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Price; that's it.

Cons: This router is funky and has serious throughput problem on upload, even with firmware update.

1.
Before firmware upgrade, I was getting terrible upload speed.

Compare:

Linksys wrt54gl flashed with dd-wrt mini:
via wifi (with wpa2): download 15.96/upload 14.22 (I have 40down/20up here)

dlink 600L, firmware version 1.00:
via wifi (open): download 14.96/upload 5.22 (I have 40down/20up here)

dlink 600L, after firmware update (to 1.13):
via wifi (open): download 12.53/upload 5.41 (I have 40 megs down/20 megs up here)

2. When I went to do the update, the interface would not keep the path to the bin file:

REAL PATH: c:\dlink_dir600\
PATH SHOWN IN THE INTERFACE: c:\fakepath

It worked, but I wasted time renaming the directory thinking it was too long, hence the name "fakepath". If it is a variable, what a stupid variable name.

3. After the firmware update, the language changed to Porteguese or Italian or something on the easy setup page. Manual pages are still in English. Is that weird, or what?

4. History of browsing does not work even though enabled in the router (Real-time Browsing History -- checked)
. Claim in the manual is:
"You can monitor a user's online activity with real-time website browsing history"
Interestingly, the word "history" is used in the manual only in this one sentence.
There's nothing in the manual on how to activate browsing history.
Not only does it not work, Dlink can't spell: "No record of any vistied history" is what is reported.

5. Even though the router has the correct time, the notifications are coming through with the wrong date:
Instead of 2012-12-13, the date stamp on the email notifications is 2012-01-20. What's with that?

6. Even though the firmware is the latest, the option to be notified of a firmware update is still being sent.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: Excellent signal and link quality, best if used in N mode as a router from any other router

Cons: A little difficult to set up but once configured, performs better than DLINK or NETGEAR. If I didn't already have two networks setup with the other brand, I'd buy three of these.

Other Thoughts: Connected this to ATT 2Wire and DLINK, running 5 security cams, 2 laptops, one LED 60" HD TV with perfect link quality on lower level. Replaced Netgear and DLink to reach this area, not one signal drop in signal, no barking with any access point

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible wireless

Pros: Got it free with the purchase of a wireless Dlink camera. Small and easy to intall
N network seems to be a great deal
Wire network port seems to work pretty good

Cons: Wireless is very slow
Wireless signal sometimes disconect or gone.
No advance configuration screen

Other Thoughts: I got this router free with the purchase of a Dlink camera. I like Dlinks cloud product. But this router is a failure. First the setup screen is very simple just few options to configure. But the so simple that does not allows you to customize the settings to your needs. Not sure if the problem is due to the this model or is my using but wireless signal seems to fade away and comes back. I have so many devices working on the wireless. My previuos Netgear was able to handle all of them without a problem but this little Dlink unit seems to have problem working with my devices at the same time. If i am streeming Netflix in my computer my Ipad will have problems with the signal and connections comes and goes. Even I have a 15mbps internet connection. The wire connections seems to work fine without interrruptions. Will try to search for an update and see if there is a firmware update that solve the problems.

2 out of 5 eggsNot the best

Pros: Works (sort of)

Cons: No manual available, wireless downloads slow, downloads hang requiring power down, menu doesn't accurately reflect router status, no response from DLink tech support.

Other Thoughts: I don't normally submit reviews, but I thought my experience with this product warrents one. I was shocked to find that there is no operating manual available either in the box or online at DLink's web site. I have found that wireless downloads are quite slow, ranging from one tenth to half of the wired speeds. Surprisingly, the upload speeds are the same. Some wireless connections require resetting the router when the connection hangs. Will be relacing this router with another soon.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my needs

Pros: It has exactly what the Overview section says. It was pretty easy to hook up and I actually had fun doing it. It came with a ethernet cable also. 30 bucks and free shipping! I bought mine from a local comp store, I should of got it from Newegg, doh! I have CAT6 cables connected to it.

Cons: No issues so far! Possible issues though:

1. The range is probably not good for big apartments or homes
2. This is probably not the right one for someone who has a large network.
3. Connecting it to multiple devices or setting up the D-Link account might be difficult for someone inexperienced with computers.
4. Connecting to the D-Link access website might be an issue. So remember to write down your WiFi password somewhere.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I wanted my friends, family and I to be able to play online multiplayer games on my Playstation3 and surf the net on my PC at the same time. This was the perfect solution. We used to have to throw the ethernet cable around, eeeek. Together with CAT6 ethernet cables I bought, this was able to do exactly what I wanted. Now, not only can one person be on the PS3 playing Call of Duty, the another person is on Youtube and the 3rd can use our Nook Color tablet. Plus I haven't noticed any slow down at all for us (24mbps); I did a speed check also. I live in small one bedroom apartment and I get a Excellent connection anywhere in my room (where I have it all setup) with WiFi and I get a Good connection if I'm in the living room or kitchen.

My setup: One 15ft cable to my PS3, One 3ft to my computer, One 6ft cable from the D-Link box to my Internet Box. I have them in different colors, looks great! =D
