5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Greatly extended wireless range. Easy to add network clients. Easy to configure WAP to my existing network using D-Link Extreme Gaming Router.

Cons: A little hard to configure. Couldn't configure as described in literature, need a higher degree of network knowledge to get set up. Once configured it works great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: Small and good range for the price. Customer service got me through the set-up process just fine.

Cons: Didn't want to play the one touch set-up game with my router, but that was all the router's fault (and Verizon's).

Other Thoughts: I had a really good experience with customer service. She had a flat affect, but all the patience in the world and we worked at it until she got me up and running! She said that I could give her a good review here so here's the case number because she deserves kudos! C6557273 Thanks again!

4 out of 5 eggsSmall, simple, and solid, but with some limitations

Pros: Dead-simple setup. This is one of only a handful of devices I have ever owned that offered one-touch setup and actually delivered. Simple LED indicators make it clear what the status of the device is, and are not garishly bright or strobing in your face. Compact size gives it a tolerable appearance plugged into your wall. Functionality seems as-promised.

Cons: The range of the network extension is poor. I was hoping it would reach to my workshop, about 40' of air and one 2x4" wood-frame wall apart, but no dice. Other repeaters I have used in the same location can make this leap. Reception is mediocre, it really needs to be squarely within range of a network to see it.

Other Thoughts: On the whole, this device seems to represent a very good choice if you are looking to expand your network modestly-- think solving intermittent poor reception in a far bedroom, not so much getting outbuildings online or passing a signal through multiple walls. The device itself is small and unobtrusive. It would easily fit behind a couch, being little larger than a typical DC converter for any other electronic device, and it leaves the second outlet of the AC receptacle it is plugged into open. The range is not impressive as devices of this type go, which should be no shock, as the physical size of the device preludes the sort of significant antennas that really make a difference for such radio signals. The device's reception is also unexceptional, it really needs to be squarely in a network to work, and in a spot that actually has good signal to complete the setup process. I was able to get to set up in one spot and then move it to the spot I wanted it, which helped, but buyers should be aware that the range of this device is limited. I have nothing but compliments for the setup process. This is one of only a handful of devices I have ever owned that purportedly feature one-lick setup procedures that actually delivered (two clicks to be exact, one on my Netgear router, one on this device). That's a good thing, because included documentation was very sparse, and there is no included setup software whatsoever. But lo and behold click, click, wait, and suddenly there was a new network called "[yournetworkname]-ext." Simple as that! Administration, as with most network devices these days, is accomplished via a web client. Login information is included on a card with the device.

The airplay fucntionality is great if you happen to need this, but it's really a curious combination of functionality. Who happens to need an extender at the same point they need a network audio jack? As an EggXpert reviewer who did not seek out this product specifically, I could not think up an actual use for both functions of the device in the same place. That said, the audio functionality works wonderfully. iTunes sees it without a problem, and audio quality is totally satisfactory. If you are buying this device for one purpose or another, the other function is a nice bonus, at the very least.

Overall, I am pleased with this device. Assuming you are intending to use it to extend your network only modestly, it offers a nice, easy to set up, unobtrusive device. And if you happen to need a network audio jack in exactly that spot, you have a match made in heaven.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works

Pros: - WPS setup
- Plugs into wall socket
- LEDs easy to understand
- Small and compact
- Easy to relocate

Cons: - Range is poor
- Doesn't always work
- Mobile devices don't automatically reconnect despite having credentials saved

Other Thoughts: I bought this from my local electronics store to extend the range of my Wifi in my house. The modem/router combo is setup in a poor area in one extreme side of the house. Thus I bought this to extend the Wifi range to the other side. Our house isn't that large, but the range is ridiculous on the range extender. When I tested it, it only went about 3-6 feet unobstructed. ALSO, the main reason I bought this was to extend the range of the Wifi to be used by my phone and laptops. Mobile devices don't automatically reconnect to the range extender and it annoys the HECK out of me. Even with the credentials saved. In order for the devices to reconnect I have to restart the range extended by unplugging it and replugging it. I suppose the only way to have continuous access to the range extender is to be connected to it 24/7.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy setup

Pros: Easy setup even without WPS

Cons: The setup instructions included represented some older version of the firmware. But the new version was so clear it didn't matter.

Other Thoughts: If you can't use WPS, you just plug it in and connect to it via WiFi. It has a preconfigured SSID and password. Then you tell it what you want its new SSID and password to be, and the SSID and password of the device you want to repeat. It reboots, and you're in business.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: Small
Easy to install

Cons: Not free
Lacks ability to grant wishes

Other Thoughts: I don't see what any negativity about this device is. I have a gaming router by the same company and I foud that if you follow the directions it was very easy to install

A few thoughts

On initial set up plug it in a place near the main router. It needs a good signal to set up properly. You can move it to where you want later but it still needs a signal there from the original router too. Remember it is a repeater!

I suggest setting it up with the same password as the main source and check the box for ghat on setup as well. It will make it seamless with use and no changing of passwords. Thus will make the devices think it is just one big network named the same as the original network.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable, simple and reliable wireless extender

Pros: - Setup is very simple and takes less than a minute
- Convenience factor, plug in anywhere at an power outlet and extend your existing home wireless signal, can’t get simpler than that
- Once configured you can move it from one outlet to another and within a minute your signal is back up
- Unit is IEEE 802.11N/G compliant
- Price is fairly affordable for a N300 based wireless extender
- What is great about this extender is that you make use of your current wireless network, unlike other extenders where you have to buy two units, one that connects via Ethernet to your router and the other via power circuit. This units picks up the wireless signal and give you additional coverage where your existing router has poor reach.
- You can configure the unit via the internet, in the box is a card with default configuration details, so you can log in and change it if you’d like.
- Signal was stable and strong during tests below
- Signal strength over distance was equal to power line extender I have in place.
- I was really impressed with the connection speeds I got from this $50 extender. Below are some results, I used my Android tablet to compare the speeds from my router vs the DAP-1320 vs a power line connected Wireless extender from Cisco that cost more than the DAP-1320. Both the Cisco unit and the D-Link was about 25 feet away from the router and I was running the test at equal distance from the extender’s signals.

Connected directly to Router:
1. Ping - 20/25/17 ms
2. Download – 17.67/19.85/21.24 Mbps
3. Upload – 4.03/5.88/5.92 Mbps
Connected to Cisco wireless extender
1. Ping – 23/23/30 ms
2. Download – 6.9/5.61/6.54 Mbps
3. Upload – 5.79/5.93/5.54 Mbps
Connected to DAP-1320
1. Ping – 24/26/19 ms
2. Download – 7.85/6.64/7.71 Mbps
3. Upload – 5.19/5.74/5.62 Mbps

Cons: - Only extends wireless signal and it has no ports to connect devices via Ethernet
- Does not support 802.11ac, it is a new wireless protocol so I expect the updates will be compliant
- D-Link GUI interface is pretty old and needs a makeover

Other Thoughts: Newegg box arrived within two days and was packaged well as always.
The D-Link DAP1320 retail box on the front displays a picture of the unit and clearly lets the prospective buyer know you are getting a Wireless Range Extender.
On the back of the box it shows you how the extender works, it connects with your existing wireless network and extends the range of your home wireless network.
On the right side of the box it shows how you can in three easy steps set up the extender by using a push button to connect to your existing wireless router.
The retail box contains the DAP-1320 extender unit, a quick reference guide, D-Link GPL Code Statement and a Wi-Fi Configuration note with SSID name, password and web browser configuration URL.
Unpacking the DAP-1320 you will notice it is quite small, about an inch and a half square. It has the wireless sync button on the right hand side and a LED on the front.
In the box you will also find a credit card sixe white card with the default configuring details such as SSID Name, password and web browser link if you want to configure it via internet.

Set up is very straight forward and outlined below:
- Plug in the DAP-1320 into the wall outlet and verify if the power LED has turned from red to blinking amber
- Now push your WPS button on your wireless router
- Press and hold the W{PS button on the DAP-1320 until the light starts blinking green, this takes a minute or two. Once the connection is successful the LED will be a solid green.
- If your router does not have a WPS button use the web browser setup section to connect your DAP-1320 using your PC.
- Now you can connect mobile devices to the DAP-1320 using the SSID and password provided on the card that came in the box
- Simple as that
