5 out of 5 eggsThe Best

Pros: I have been deploying wireless technology for years; this is super simple and solid. Great range in the environments that I have used it in.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have used more industrial grade devices, but bang for the buck on this device is great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Ceiling mount with POE works great looks like a smoke detector. POE and ceiling mounting gives a lot of mounting options for less interference and better coverage. We are getting 4 or 5 bars throughout 7,000 sq/ft building using this device. Not a SOHO device has the options to work with corporate network security.

Can be easily set up SOHO also.

Cons: None it just worked without issue.

Other Thoughts: Great product easy set up. If it holds up like previous D-Link products I have used will be a great addition to our network. I wouldn't be afraid to recommend this to anyone based on the track record of other D-Link products I have used.

1 out of 5 eggsUsed Sold As New???

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: This item was purchased as part of a large office move, rewiring, and networking upgrade. This project took several months to complete. Upon finalization of the project and network configuration, we found that we might have had a defective product as we were unable to communicate to the Access Point. After several HOURS of troubleshooting, wire testing, and direct connection to the AP, we found that we had to perform a Factory Reset on the device as the default log in information had been changed. Fearing that this was a used device, the client opted to purchase a new one from a local distributor. When we received the replacement unit from the distributor, we found that the packaging was different as well. What we thought to be additional purchase items (false ceiling mounting brackets) were actually missing from the box we ordered. Now that the job is completed and everything is working fine, we are waiting for response from the seller for resolution to the problem.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the 'prosumer'

Pros: Excellent coverage and higher end features. The captive portal and built in RADIUS server make enabling the higher levels of security much easier than usual.

Cons: Loading a custom SSL certificate is cumbersome and isn't well documented. Not able to disable HTTP access and restrict to only HTTPS for management. For both of those reason I took off 1 egg, YMMV.

Other Thoughts: This is a great router for the pro home/small business user who wants higher end features without the hassle or expense of the big names in enterprise networking. Documentation is a bit slim but some googling will usually yield an acceptable answer. If DLink would fix the HTTP/HTTPS issues this would be a 5 egg access point.
